Mandat de l'impératrice des Cieux - Imperial Princess Troubleshooter Space Opera Quest

I mean, if you know more than the QM about how the proposed plan would go wrong:

By all means share with the group. I'm keeping an open mind, what are we all missing?
Bear in mind that just because Tarisa Manandal still looks like a smol slender teenager at 60 (despite having four kids and a single fluffy tail her maid grooms to perfection every morning) does not mean that she isn't a hardass bitch who'll shank you in a heartbeat if she thinks it's necessary. Woman came up as infantry, then went power armor, even did a tour on the Empress' detail for a time.

Also I just want to say again that Yui didn't tell Shiki (her Navy buddy) or Johnny (her uncle) or Konnie (her best friend) that Ahri got Qanon'd. The only person who knows that is Daniel. Something to think about, for anybody suggesting full disclosure to the IRG. Consider the ramifications of that. (By right I should let y'all just make the bed but well, Politics SSR)

I quoted the part that you should missed out and should probably pay attention to.

One should not be greedy and reach out for more than they are capable of.

Just a reminder for everybody: I'm not Marked for Death's QM, fighting with his audience and deliberately interpteting plans in the worse possible light, but I'm not spoon feeding y'all either. Consider things said, things not said, potential ramifications. Yui's going to be making a lot of judgement calls, just like the voters.

Anyhow voting remains open and will close in 47 hours from now, so there's still time to consider and vote.

Ok, but how is that related to what I said. Your quote explicitly mentions the 4chan deal. Mine is just what the 50/50 ish chances of the aforementioned vote are. What connections are you seeing?

Look, I'm not trying to be a jackass about this, but of you're trying to go beyond just generic "your idea is bad" and help decide a plan, you need to stop at Point B before you go to point C. I can't speak for anyone else, but I am not a mind reader. You gotta tell me what's on yours.

I'd say pick one of the options that the author gave out? He already thrown out all the relevant information you need to make out why your idea isn't something that is gonna work in the first place. Maybe read through the last few posts he made?

[X] Appeal to her pragmatism. She rose to lead the IRG without being beholden to any one faction, purely focused on doing the duty her Empress expects of her. It's in the IRG's interest to assist you: they'll get a close eye on your activities and access to the intelligence you develop. The IRG's professional favor to your team will be repaid in kind.

[X] Appeal to her patriotism. House Manandal has served the Empire for over a dozen generations; you joined the Navy out of the same duty that drives your father and uncle. Use this common ground to gain her goodwill; it might be compelling enough to preclude the need to trade favors.

I think I trust Yui's SSR politics more than I trust a write in.

I'm pretty sure the IRG won't respond well to overtly implying a power grab.

From what I recall:
The IRG is loyal (mostly), loyal to the Empire and the Empress. This loyalty has a hitch because Princess Yui is outright better at being Empress than Meigyoku herself. Which means Princess Yui puts the institution under stress merely by existing and further by acting as second in command of the Empire. I think it was brought up that if Yui tried to ascend the IRG would have a bloody civil war?

Which is why Major Yui is keeping an eye on Princess Yui.

Asking the IRG to take up tasks is already an awkward thing to do because the more problems Yui presents the more compelling her possible takeover becomes. Perhaps she could present things by claiming that her personal resources are currently insufficient? And bring the Commanding General face to face with Meigyoku to prove Yui's own superiority in all ways?

-[X]Personal loyalty to the Empress: Her Imperial Majesty has privately requested that this investigation be made, as the matter of military weapons getting into the wrong hands is a significant priority to her. However, it has become much larger than was anticipated, and she needs loyal, capable people at this earliest, most tenuous date of her role.
--[X]Bait the hook: If the General wishes, a personal, private meeting can be arranged to address her concerns about our "influence".
Yeah...

In all likelihood the write-in is not going to cause huge issues, since Yui has cheated with S-Rank politics before. A paranoid reading of the vote might get a reaction about what we didn't say, but could be assigned to her words.

"I, Princess Yui, should be accepted as having imperial authority when I make requests of the IRG."
"Any competent subject of the Empire would accept that the Empress would and should agree with me about everything." (the current Empress should not rule at the present time)

Which is something we don't want to communicate.

I don't want Yui to invoke loyalty to the Empress here. Hiding behind Ahri's tails could provoke a bigger, nearer problem. I also don't want to carelessly assert control over her Imperial Majesty's schedules. Princess Yui has control, but should be using it to solve Ahri's problems, not her own :V

I'd prefer to offer a personal favor myself. General Manandal, from what little Yui knows, must have effectively traded favors to succeed in the past. So she's likely to put some value on Yui's offer. Since we're both on the same side that favor being called in shouldn't be something we're opposed to doing, and the time or effort is a fair trade because getting assistance saves us time and effort now.

[x] Appeal to her personally. She's a serving military officer, like you: she swore the same oaths to obey your Empress and defend Her against all enemies. You're acting for Her Majesty's sake, surely that means you both want the same things: you're both on the same side. You're dealing with her woman to woman, your favor will likely be of the same nature.

Because yuri is in the table. At 1/50 chance

Here, have a write-in. I'm not voting for it till I'm sure it gets some support, since atm, avoiding "Oh shit the DM asked "are you sure about that?"" is priority one, but here.

[]Appeal to the Mutual Threat (Those Sumeragi Fuckers Are Up To Something): The simple fact of the matter is, the Great Houses are gearing up for war. Sumeragi in particular seems to be eyeing the throne itself, and the Navy is partially compromised and stretched thin as is. Necessity demands that you make certain any intelligence force you assemble be loyal to the Empress first and foremost, as well as limit any information the Great Houses could acquire on the formation of such.
-[]Also, Ri-Sumeragi is fucking chew and you have pictures.

EDIT: Made the joke optional.

We're not here to build a power base, honest! That's Salt Admiral and Salt Dad's job :V

Thanks for all the votes and discussion so far. We'll.close at 0000 GMT on Tuesday 19 Jan, so another 34 hours from now.

The write-in... now that I think about it, it's not just about whether or not the IRG is loyal: it's also about what message we send to the IRG. If they think we're unsuited to be quasi-Vicereine? We're out.

What I might a bit add to that is "You have my word that I am loyal to Meigyoku as Empress and Ahri as family, that I harbor no designs on the throne or its power, and what I do, I am doing for Her Majesty. I am also perfectly aware that you're not in a position to take me at my word, which is why you are undoubtedly going to slip a mole or three into my intelligence team.
