Magical Girl Monster Quest

[X] Agent Green: A Smiling Man

This the Hazama guy from Interlude 2? I do want to know what he's up to.

For Sufficient Velocity:
Hello all! This is the first Quest I've actually gotten to participate in. It isn't the first I've read, though. I polished off what's written, including comments, in a few hours, and I have a few things to add:
So that you can get a "feel" for my viewpoint:
After reading Harry Potter and the Natural 20, I read HP and the Methods of Rationality, then Nightmares of Future Past, etc. That was my intro to fanfics and webcomics. As for Anime and Manga, I've watched a bit (a few clips) of Bakugan 10 years ago at a friend's house, as well as a single episode of what later turned out to be Naruto (I had to look it up). I do sometimes watch Pokémon, as the fights give interesting ideas for the games. I prefer the movies, as the stupidity in the characters hurts my brains. As for Manga, Dragon Eye and Fullmetal Alchemist (all of both). That's it.
I do know a bit about the Magical Girl genre, as I've read Dungeon Keeper Ami. This lead to me reading a bit of the wiki to find out what the Silver Crystal was, youma abilities and power levels (including the generals, Tuxedo Mask, Beryl, and Metalia), how it ended, and whether or not it ended there. Other than that, I know a bit of trivia from the discussions of the fic, the fact that only villains can teleport for no explained reason, and that In the Name of the Moon is a trope. Anything else need to be explained or I will draw conclusions. I apologize for any confusion I may accidentally create in the future.
I like HPMOR. The message of Rationality is one I've always liked, and I personally believe immortality has immense potential. I believe that, whether or not our Prideful little avatar is going to have an idealistic plan for his subjects for any reason other than to be the best King possible, he should reveal, to close "friends", that his desire to rule the world has something to do with being able to fix everything. The fact that people are essentially made by their life should be played up- believing that punishment is only there to prevent repeats, and that pain of opponents when it solves nothing is worthless. Anything that makes the inevitable reveal as a Daemon less alienating.
Second: Whenever "Daemon" and "Wrathful" are mentioned in the same page, I react as GW has hoped: "Khorne is here, isn't he?" So the talk about converting the Wrathful heir (likely Kagemusha clan) makes me nervous. She doesn't even need to find out about the whole "Pride" bit: just seeing our skill with that black sword will likely allow her to wonder: " How did he survive? Is he a threat? Did my parents send him to keep me safe or teach me a lesson about betrayal?" We need to Infodump the whole fake story onto her somehow. (And question: why was she so angry the day after the assassination attempt, and so relived to see us alive? According to her story, her parents lied to her about why her friends were gone, simply letting her get the message from their disappearances & deaths. How the boop did she know the attack was then? And if it's 'cause of a news story, on the attack, why didn't she already know we were alive?
(Also, how skilled is she? If she's training for warrior? Do those skills extend to stealth or sin? Is there any way we could hide the emanation of Pride we give off, 'cause if someone senses us the way we sensed her, we are screwed.)
Edit: Apparently it's cause her sister showed up at our apartment. I wonder if she'll be then next assassin?

Third: When it comes down to the items, I'm a little disappointed. The crown may increase our Pride, but powering it with our Diligence weakens us, and it may power it the way love powers Black Mage's Hadoken in 8-bit theater: like fuel that is used up. That would end our ambitions. I was hoping, while reading, for the Knife (the crystal blue, easy concealability, and efficiency of weight-to-deadliness made it interesting). I wasn't sure on the armor, and I'm not certain on the spectacles use (useful, but distracting in combat, and blinds one. No excuse for how we got it, obvious, and trinket-level. Personally, I'm okay with the sword (2nd option) since we had it concealed somehow before the Kagemusha (probably) assassins attacked. But I think the cloak of shadow was a wasted opportunity, and the Dragon's Teeth would give us a good source of minions. Not for combat- they're just be cannon fodder. To use for farming, or something, to earn money. Definitely great for intimidation of human criminals. I'm rather glad the Hand of Glory, Murderers Gloves, and Mournful Candle didn't get picked. Those didn't scream "usable for anything we would do." Finally, however useful the strange pendant may be, it's a locket we can't open. That sounds like a certain Horcrux.

As for prioritizing our actions:

1: To destroy an Ant Infestation, one must Poison the Queen
Find out who Princess Heart is. Then kill her. Not only does she keep Fire and Earth from killing each other, she was the one with the magical purging attack. Meaning her death makes possessed victims invincible (summoning Youma is difficult if you want it solid, apparently, but possession is apparently par for the course, and easy) unless the Sailor Moon knock-offs are willing to kill humans. Should shut the Princesses down, and force the Choir and Warriors to pick up the slack, seeing how Kaleidoscope doesn't fight in the real world and Collateral Damage are focused on the Wrathy clan. Method: Actual assassins exist, but they don't ninja around with shurikens or attack with fire like Wrath thugs, they use high powered, preferably concealable rifles (and occasionally explosives). A great deal of work should be used to make the hiring untraceable. The assassin should be hired to attack her civilian form, and our Parent Organization should be notified ahead of time that we intend to kill a protagonist (magical girl). No more info should be given, or else an interception means failure. However, this is key- we must get credit. After she is shot, create a small, hideable explosive based on a remote, put it in a present, and send it anonymously to her room. Make it as powerful as possible, be outside the hospital, and gain control over the cameras. Set of explosive within range. Send ninjas into the Chaos (also assassins, but not professionals. Thugs. Her head must be confiscated from her and crushed to powder, with the result burned the ashes crumbled to dust and dumped in the sea. (Even that may not be enough, judging by Sailor Moon's style. Resurrections aren't D&D style, or science based. However, those may be more common, and doing all of this confirms she is dead [temporarily] and will hopefully require a bit to be resurrected.) No chances may be taken. (Also, when trying to kill us, why didn't the Wrathy Kaho clan do this? They are apparently effective, but if one of the local magic groups noticed, these attacks would have been foiled [even if the Collateral Damage member was watching us the whole time and didn't care, a magic attack is less noticeable than a hidden sniper. Also less valuable] and send some thugs to clean up the dead body? Do they want us alive?)
(My justification for heart: we can't eat her soul or anything, and that would probably mean she'd get to tear us apart during a resurrection. I checked how Sailor Moon ended (Metallia), and apparently everyone but Sailor Moon died... and was later resurrected. We can't stop ultrasoul resurrections, but we can at least prevent easy MoR revives. To quote the Evil Overlord List, Cellblock C, Rule 239: I will always remember the motto: "Overkill is good, overconfidence is not." If I kill a hero, I will not relax until I detonate his body to pieces, incinerate the pieces, fling the ashes into outer space (or better, into another dimension), and exorcise the site.
We can at least make the Return difficult. Maybe if we kill ALL of them, they'll stop coming Back From the Dead. Our resources are still limited, and if the head (in fictional and mythical necromancy, often needed to communicate with the soul or intelligence) being destroyed makes no difference, destroying the body won't help. Besides, Mercenaries are not going to lug an entire person outside in an assassination attempt.

2: MASSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
Youma apparently exist here. If an explanation exists for their flight and teleportation, like in DKA, we need to find it and see if it can be learned. The abilities of Flight and Teleportation, in an area where most of the Wrath based Daemons are stuck with melee, is a game changer. Similarly, shields are also important, because extra toughness and paper-thin armor does not equal "invulnerability," and energy blasts mean long-range attack (and dead Wrath assassin-thugs.)

3: Weapons we can get and need
We need a ranged attack. I liked the rune-gun, but that isn't an option anymore. However, it should be possible to buy an ordinary pistol, at least, or import one illegally if the current world doesn't allow guns in Japan. Small and light should be priorities. Whether or not they are available, though, light bulletproof vests should be. The lightest models should allow a bit more armor without being noticeable or reducing mobility too much.
(On the feasibility of getting a gun: In this world, Youma appear and attack civilians. Surely the possibility for allowing citizens a chance to defend themselves has occurred to the government? Also, 2 things: 1, the worf effect [villain beats up Superman, or some other powerful figure, to prove strength]: This world works by Magical Girl logic, with some genre savvy people, so guns could be there for a Youma to No Sell them. 2, The 7 Rings thought a gun would be a non-conspicuous enough weapon that it was a possible option.

4: Prideful Powers and Their Uses on the Extermination of Pests and the Prolonging of One's Life (Success with Pride for Dummies)
WHY ARE WE NOT TRAINING OUR POWERS?!? Those are VITAL! Besides, DO we have a ranged attack? Can we take that armor off of us, turn it into a tiny throwing knife, and have it dematerialize and reform on our skin? Can we extend it into a shield we can hold in front of use, slightly increasing the area we can protect? Even better, can the Goldeness of our justified Pride be used to enhance our Charisma to Greed-Diplomancer levels (even for only one command)? A voice that sounds like honey calls one over the phone, and tells one to kill her daughter (a magical girl) while she sleeps... even if that fails, they aren't from 40k. They'll be scared, and not answering the phone means less news, while less sleeping and more nightmares means tiredness, irritability and mistakes are enhanced in the day. (Combat mistakes for magical girl, more groundings and shorter tempers for parents).

5: Martial Arts. And regular exercise while studying. A healthy body means a healthy mind, and a healthy mind is good at combing minions to serve us. Not to mention the lack of info on what Martial Arts we were trained in by the Rings. We should probably learn a foreign style first, privately, to account for survival against the Wrath Daemon Assassin. Then publicly (or with less effort spent on privacy) learn something local- confusion for our enemies (as to what style we will use, and this how to fight us), more skills for us. Some options and advantages:
Ninjutsu.
Still taught now, though I'm not sure how "pure" it is, or how reverse engineered. But the ancient ninjas could jump ridiculously high to avoid blows or land on an opponents chest, and they were masters of stealth (useful for assassinating magical girls). This is a different world than ours, so it may be there in full or not at all. Still, it may make a good supplement, and we ARE in Japan.
Krav Maga.
This is a staple of the world, in my opinion. It's an Israeli style, but it's one of the most famous in the world, so it's believable as something we learned abroad. This fighting style combines the best from hand- and leg-focused fighting styles to bring about a brutal, highly efficient martial art that will make even the strongest opponent quake in fear, no matter how Wrathful their Sin. The style offers simultaneous offensive and defensive moves, focusing upon the very fast removal of threats instead of any unnecessary flourishes- perfect for someone without limitless energy.
Capoeira:
An American style with a focus upon agile movements (so our speed is useful). It is as marvelous to watch as it is deadly, combining highly acrobatic dancing with kicks and punches, although the use of knee-strikes and elbow-punches are preferred to more traditional fighting styles. As a combat style, capoeira requires fast and precise control, as it leans more towards counter-attacks than full-on assault. By making you aware of your own movements and those of the opponent, capoeira is a viable fighting style against even large groups of swarming people, whether they be armed or unarmed.
Eskrima:
From the Philippines, focuses on batons, blades, and grapples. Somewhat local, great for sword (an explanation for any skills with that thing), and useful otherwise as well!
Kung Fu:
Can be split into Northern, Southern, and other. Northern is acrobatic- very Ataru (Yoda's style of lightsaer combat). Southern style is very grounded and defensive. But against people, not tank-like bolts of fire from a Magical Girl. Or people who are on fire.
Silat:
A Malay (and thus Asian) fighting style shaped over millenia, is a martial art based upon stability during mobility. It combines dance-like moves with efficient and quick ones, and it also includes fighting with weapons. WHOO SWORDS! No matter what posture or strike you are in, as a practitioner of silat, you will be standing stable and unwavering (Pridefully Invincible) in the face of anything coming your way. It offers kicks, punches, elbow- and knee-strikes, throws, grapples, and locks, so it will at least be useful against civilians (no need to use our supernatural abilities like we considered doing on bullies. [Use violence. You're all middle schoolers, true. But only one of the four middle schoolers in this room is combat trained, has supernatural powers, and actually gets regular exercise. Besides, if they try to complain, no one is going to believe that the newcloudcuckoolander student with the innocent smile intentionally picked a fight with three ruffians.] What combat style, and why note the supernatural powers?)
In all, I know the details of these 6 American, European or Middle-Eastern styles: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (which I know, and it is useless against something you can't grapple), Capoeira (mentioned), Jeet Kun Do (good for street fighting, made by Bruce Lee, too vicious to seem Moral to these idiots), Krav Maga (Mentioned, and I want to learn it), Sambo (focuses on getting your opponent on the ground, then hitting them into unconsciousness, so not good against opponents who are On Fire), and Savate (French Kickboxing, focuses on Enemy weakpoints, punching, kicking, fast unsportsmanlike takedowns, not good for pretending to be Moral to Anyone-Like-Sailor Moon. I don't know the Strengths or Weaknesses of Karate, ironically.
As for Asian, Muay Thai (instead of having roots in European boxing, it draws from centuries of brutal war in the jungles. It has hard punches that will drop an opponent unconcious with a single swing, along with kicks that will break bones. Not good for Magical Girl Diplomancers), Bokator (An ancient fighting style hailing from Cambodia, including the traditional hard and fast punches and kicks, but also plenty of weapon use. It is first and foremost a form of combat meant for the battlefield, and as such is a brutal and efficient martial art. This fighting style has only fairly recently seen a resurgence, as its masters were brought together after the bloody Khmer Rouge. Bokator takes full advantage of the weak points in a human body and seeks to cripple them with weapons such as knives, swords, and batons, and in unarmed combat provides locks, punches, kicks, grapples, and throws that do the same job. Far too gruesome an idea for anyone who says that Collateral Damage sounds too Morally Flexible to work with [Sarcasm intensifies].)

6: My Skin in so SPARKLY!... Now I feel horrified.
Find out during experimentation whether the gold force-field armor can separate into 2 patches, and, if it can't, how thin the connection can be. Armor the scalp and the chest to protect the heart and brain. After this, if any left, protect the lungs. Hopefully can be used in tandem with a bulletproof vest, a la item 3 on this list (even heavy bulletproof vests are useless against machine guns or assault rifle. On its own, it merely means more golden armor to protect the brain, and maybe spine, so we can live long enough that our healing factor comes into play).

7: Why Kaho should Blindly Trust Us Within a Few Weeks Despite Being the Ultra-Important Kagemusha Heir Who Everyone Wants to Kill (Or WKBTUWFWDBUIKHWEWE for short)
Make a Guido - Aspirin speech to the Kagemusha heir. (If no one has read Mything Persons, my heart cries out in sympathy.) The gist: people who don't trust anyone, any-when, have no one but themselves. And there's always going to be a time when you're sleeping while you should be watching. Being liked and trusted works best when you like people and you're not scared to show it. It's why the friendlier people win: no chronic backstabbing disorder. Also note that however useful it may be to believe that people always want something (her reaction to our greetings), Order of the Stick Starshine Analysis: it isn't healthy. Humans are social creatures. We need someone to talk to and trust. And remember, while people always want something, some want to help. (Increase of trust)

8: On the Proper Use of Swords
Maybe research the material the sword is made of. If it's designed to be tougher, hold a sharper edge, lighter, or channel one's Sin, keep it. If it's made to weaken the Sins of your opponent, or punch through Prideful armor, destroy the assassination weapon.
Edit: In the fight against the wrath assassin, we blocked a few hits with that thing, but each left us feeling "oddly drained." A property of the Wrath thugs flames, or the sword?

9: Minions and Triangular Swords
In the "Sword of the King" interlude, we found out we should soon be able to summon a metal, triangular lightsaber. But we also were reminded: our King incarnation, if that's what these dreams are, had minions. We need minions. And we don't have skeletons, 'cause we turned down the Dragon Teeth for a Horcrux. So human minions should be best. The answer, of course, is in one of the actions:
-[] Go explore shady and possibly illegal locations. You're almost certain to find something their. It might be mundane, though.
If what you discover IS mundane, and you remember to bring a red outfit and set fire to your sleeves (or whatever- I like the idea of pretending to be some sort of shadow spirit, but no cloak of shadows), you can set up a small criminal empire on the side. Even 1 gang would mean minions with weapons and possible black market connections to use weapons to aid fights against Magical Girls and give you a small staple of Money. Surely useful, and likely to unlock additional options!

10: Books Hit the books. Falling behind on our studies means we can't offer to help Kaho (Wrath heir) study, and we should be the one helping her. We are superior! And benevolent, not needy!

11: A policy on Rings
This:
-[] Spend several frustrating hours negotiating with someone back at the Enclave for information. Hopefully they have something.
Actually using our contacts with the Seven Rings reminds them that we are their sole Japan field agent, and may make getting assistance or aid later a task that would be actually possible. Plus, they might have info, and even if they don't, perhaps they could assist in the acquisition of a small, well-crafted firearm. Perhaps with Cyanide-tipped bullets, so that a nick would still kill a Magical Girl.

12: Remember this: VERY IMPORTANT. IT IS ADVISED FOR YOU TO HAVE READ EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST. THIS IS THE BIG GAME PLAN: WHO ARE OUR FOES, WHAT ARE THEIR WEAKNESSES AND STRENGTHS, HOW WE CAN RESPOND, AND MY RECOMMENDATION
1: The Kaleidoscope can at least fly in the physical world, and they have been actually trained by their mystic wands. Actual training has earned our respect, they could be powerful allies (actual magic, mystic wands, flight)... but they still don't fight in the real world. Solution: Diplomance, and remember not to expect their aid... ever.

2: Collateral Damage is made of highly controlled martial artists, to the point that they can use Ki to make themselves superhuman. While they lack powers, they are so skilled that they can use that skill to break human limits. DO NOT FIGHT, EVER. Skill and strength, as well as no limit to their numbers (lots of recruits, really more of a secret society). Worse, they are "horrifically disorganized" with no known central leadership to assassinate, or group/goal to direct them. Basically a loose society I'd do-gooders that trains its members and allows them to keep in touch with each other. Solution: Secretly help point them at Kaho's family, which they are fighting anyway. Hope one takes care of the other. If discovered by Kaho, note her family has essentially imprisoned her and needs to lose the power to harm her if she decides, once an adult, to leave them. Surely as powerful a foe as the Kagemura's seem to be would require their full organization, and the Kagemura's, to preserve their tenuous reputation, would obliterate such a small group if it attacks them? Right?

3: The Warriors have swords, and there are 7. Snipe them from the shadows, maybe? No plans on dealing with them, other than finding out Grey's element and how they use those elements. Maybe report to the Enclave to seem efficient and worth helping?

4: All we know about the Choir is that they are utterly terrifying. They all have "musical based attacks," which could mean they have to sing to shoot fireballs, play a violin, or just that their beams of light release musical notes into the air when they murder you. Meaning we know squat besides "each specialize in a different area of combat. They have been around for a while, and it shows in their teamwork. Though not very impressive in terms of power, their ability to work together to execute even the most difficult of strategies more than makes up for their weaknesses." In other words, they are deadly, though somewhat weaker then the norm for people who are basically walking artillery REGIMENTS. They're smart and they work well together, and they work with the superpowerful Princesses: "Third, they have some kind of contact with the Choir, as Princess Water mentions contacting Alto to see if she has any information on this new type of enemy." In short, the actual mobile artillery, who "survive mostly because they have access to immense and overwhelming power instead of any skill." The Choir may just keep the Princesses together after Heart dies, if we succeed on that. Worse, they may manage to train them to be self-sufficient, and we don't know enough about their style of incompetence to know if Water is the only one who can contact the Choir, meaning the feasibility of preventing their interactions is an unknown. Taking them out in Powered form is likely impossible, or at least as close as they can get, and we don't know who they are or if they keep any power in their normal forms. On the bright side, they're dangerous because they've been around long enough to develop teamwork- surely they left a trace somewhere? Use the 7 Rings to track down. As many resources as possible. Any favors should be called in. This should take priority and you should make it clear to the Rings that you are willing to sacrifice your personal power to complete your mission (a lie that should net more resources in the long run.) Find them, see if circumstances can be arranged to keep them from contacting the Princesses after Heart is assassinated, to give them the chance to crumble.

5: The Princesses: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Wood, Heart. Inexperienced, friction with authorities due to stated desire to rule world. (We need to make it clear that we intend to take over the world by being the obvious de facto ruler, who will be elected as supreme dictator and use his power as a benevolent peacekeeper, allowing humanity to ascend to the stars.) Word of Quest Master is that the authorities look the other way because they stop eldritch abominations that level buildings- Youma. Fire and Earth clash, kept apart by Heart. Water, at least, can contact the Choir, which is competent due to experience. Each has a single attack (First Season Senshi) based off of their element; only noted ability by QM during voting for hero groups. Still seems likely they have some form of basic physical enhancement (no training, but dodged a Youma's energy blasts), and either way, these are the people surviving due to raw power. Fire probably uses some kind of fireball. Heart confirmed to use a Rainbow of Harmony (I don't know My Little Pony, but I do know Darth Vulcan). Water may send out mist as cover (Mercury rip-off; does she have a visor? May be a problem.) Earth, Wood, Air; harder to predict.
Solution: Find out all secret identities (maybe plant security cams/hack traffics & school cams?) Assassinate Heart. Direct the Choir elsewhere. Summon Youma if we have the capability, specifically for possession (the easier kind that also happens to allow more of a Moral Event Horizon type of choice), have Youma make a public spectacle, and near the end, of possible, beg his "masters," the Princesses, to spare him. Spread rumors about how they are the ones behind the Youma attacks (anonymously, on the Internet), using the attacks as justification for the city needing them. The Powerful Summoner should cooperate with this, giving similar orders to her Youma (Please! I did my best, but I can't pretend to be a villain anymore! Just turn me back to human, please! I beg you, Princesses! Please!... No! Don't kill me! I can be a good villain! Pleeeeease...) Should maximize distrust. Maybe use acquired criminal network, contact the Kagemura clan, ask them (anonymously) to use a Greed Sinner to do the whole "voice over phone tells Magical Girl parents to kill their MG" plan if we can't diplomize through brute-force Charisma (likely). Explain that this is a carefully crafted opportunity you have created for them as a gift, as you would like to pursue an alliance. If they decline or demand concessions, ask the 7 Rings. After they are suitably exhausted and broken up, hire gunmen and as many Wrath and Pride assassins as possible to attack them in close combat- their weakness. Intent to kill.

I hope that the questions will inspire ideas, and I promise I'm not trying to be Grimdark, just effective against these particular foes. I also hope that the overview of my knowledge will allow for people to correct for my shortcomings and more easily point out the flaws in my ideas so that they may be fixed (besides morals, 'cause villain). Other than that, I have only 2 requests: please clarify whether the sword is a Katana, and if anyone can spot a similarity between a group and an already existing one (I know the Princesses are Senshi knock-offs, and that the Senshi are gods in the Manga. I also caught someone calling the Warriors Power Rangers, who are also color themed [I don't know how many there are]. I don't recognize any others, no matter how "obvious" the parallelisms. I don't know individual stories, just the genre, with one exception. If there is a parallel, I'd like to research the original. Thanks!

Wow. Longpost.
*skims*

Last I checked Brazil isn't part of the US.

Most of the martial arts you listed include weapons.

This is my first post on a Quest thread. I thought I'd make the most of it.

I assume you're talking about Capoeira? Yes, it is a Brazilian Martial Art. I apologize for the slip-up. It is generally taught in America nowadays, much like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which is known as an American Style despite the word "Brazil" directly claiming ownership in the title. It is part of the Americas, as in the region, and thus also known as an American style. (Please specify which martial art or other option next time, though)

Most of the Martial Arts INCLUDE weapons. However, that's par for the course. When I note it, that means that, to my knowledge (which is human in origin, and admittedly fallible), it's a significant part of the style (like with Bokator, which focuses heavily on the use of knives, swords, and batons for crippling the opponent), is highly specialized (Silat requires speed, and does train in weapons, thus ideal for Pride, Eskrima focuses heavily on Swords and Batons- the grapples are just as deadly, but seem almost supplementary). I did not mention Karate in detail, because I did not know the extent to which the Bo is focused upon, or Tai Chi, of which I practiced a total of 5 of the basic forms during a month in China. I learned that Tai Chi practitioners move slowly because it is more difficult than moving quickly, to build patience, balance, muscle... And I could see that the advanced classes used swords. To practice forms. I didn't know just how much they focused on weapons, especially considering that the implement of combat seemed to be heavily focused on "we can actually move faster than everyone else once we are in danger, cause moving slowly during forms allows you to train up to Yoda levels." That, and the bit where people who haven't looked closely at the style itself think it's actually slow when implemented. Thus, a few where I mentioned the use of weapons... and a few where I didn't bother mentioning the style.

If you can summarize a style in detail, especially in relation to location (how likely are we to learn it as Pride in Japan), where it's from (is it the Martial Art we said we were already trained in, or are we brushing up on local methods?), Strengths, Weaknesses, Uses, and Propaganda (Does this Martial Art seem likely to appear "evil" to a naive Magical Girl? We don't want stalking us the way Harry Potter stalked Draco Malfoy in book 6 once he suspected Draco was a Death Eater? In short, why Jeet Kune Do is not an option). Oh, and how elegant is it? That's just a bonus, but it would work with Pride beautifully. Icing always goes well with cake! ... Unless it's mud, of course.

I'm not sure whether to adjust it, what with the current length of the post and your correction. (Please specify next time, though)
I'll do my best to specify in the future then.

(Does this Martial Art seem likely to appear "evil" to a naive Magical Girl we don't want stalking us the way Harry Potter stalked Draco Malfoy in book 6 once he suspected Draco was a Death Eater? In short, why Jeet Kune Do is not an option).
Jeet Kune Do looks evil? Moreso than Krav Maga, aka "dirty fighting the martial art"?

Jeet Kune Do was designed by Bruce Lee for Street Fighting. Grab the hair, steal their knife. The Princesses will hate it from the history alone, and we don't want to die.
Krav Maga focuses on making your opponent take a nap or die in as short an amount of time as possible. No Muay Thai kicks designed to break bones, Bokator weakness targeting, or focus on getting them onto the ground so you can whack 'em in the head with an elbow. There's an argument there, and in any case, it's one of the most famous Martial Arts in the world. It gains a huge boost in believability- if they've heard it mentioned, even in passing, it's probably not a secret Ring organization style, right? I think that the huge bonus in believability helps its case. As for Bokator, how widely practiced is it outside Cambodia? The "it's big and important" card works well with Victor Crowne's "I'm gonna be the very best... like no one ever wass..." theme. If it's less known, we look like we looked this particular MA up for the "brutality" of it.

Edit: Also, I really want to learn Krav Maga, but my schedule is packed and the closest instructor I've found it over 35 minutes away. I suppose I just really like the concept of Krav Maga. It's known for it's efficiency, and what I've learned of it has definitely peaked my interest.

Developed for the Israel Defence Forces? Promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible? Preemptive assaults, focus on quick end to fighting, enemy unconsciousness or death ASAP? Simultaneous attacks and defenses?

Edit: I'm aware of the focus on weak points. However, the Attack-While-Defending, Situational Awareness, and Fame all work as counters to the the "preemptive strike" philosophy. If pushed on it, we can just say we like for fights, considering how unkingly they are, or simply inefficient, to end as soon as possible. Besides, we don't have to carry out a groin assault to use a famous martial art. We'll just deny that area of training! (If they know. The fame makes it well-known enough that they should have heard of it, but I doubt they know more than "it exists." The fact that they'd know that much about it would probably make it seem mainstream.

Fair, I suppose.

One thing I'm confused on: You keep mentioning the fame, but to my knowledge it's not all that famous.

It may not be Kung Fu, but to my knowledge, it is the most famous modern self-defense technique. It was developed for soldiers and passed on to civilians, so if it isn't famous, I guess Victor could say it's interesting because its battle-tested. However, for what reasons do you believe it isn't famous?

Mainly because I had never even heard of it before a few years ago, when it come up in some research I was doing for writing and I looked into it more heavily.

To be fair, modern styles are hardly presented through media to the degree that Kung Fu and Tai Chi are. Most people don't know about Jeet Kune Do without be looking at Bruce Lee's accomplishments, and I doubt many people know about the existence of Brazilian Jiu-Jistu, and that started 100 years ago, to the year. No, wait... 2017? Ok, almost to the year. Modern techniques don't have the same mysticism, so the public doesn't look at them. Krav Maga is, however, to the best of my knowledge, the most famous modern style around currently. I suppose I didn't think about what the distinction meant enough.

Anyways, V has already expressed desire to protect his people. If it isn't famous enough for the girls to have heard, no problem! If they check with anyone in the know, they should confirm everything he says. Plus, he can stress the "supposed to avoid confrontations in the first part" bit, which I can happily state with confidence that they hammer into people just as hard as they do when they teach Kuk Sool Won!

Edit: You judge how famous something is by if you've heard of it? Do you know how many people don't know what Doctor Who is?

Edit edit: Ah well. What did you think of the non-martial-arts bits?
