Magical Girl Monster Quest

029 - We don't talk anymore
[X] Locke

[X] New Classmate

Your first priority is to settle on a name for your creation. You could just keep calling her minion, but for some inexplicable reason, accurately describing people by their relationship to you tends to raise eyebrows in public, especially when you indulge in honesty instead of acceding to society's eccentricities. Your master having very literally beaten the need for subtlety and secrecy into your head, you therefore decide to name her Locke. It's a perfect name.

Eventually, after much consideration and pondering, you decide that the most useful option is to have her follow you to school and be your official minion. Now, normally, you'd simply say the word, some creative editing of supposedly official documents would occur, and then your darling minion would be in the system, and more than free to follow you around wherever you go without raising any more suspicion than that provoked by a young man of your stature and superiority having a dedicated personal servant – that is to say, none at all.

However, this being Japan and you not having access to your usual resources, you are forced to go to extraordinary measures in order to arrange for what ought to be the simplest of tasks.

Resignedly, you pull out your cell phone and dial a seven-digit number. In all honesty, you rather feel that the obsession with the number seven that the entire Circle seems to display is a little silly. Just because it holds a certain significance to the manner by which you surpass humanity and allow yourselves to reveal your true potential doesn't mean you're all required to be absolutely obsessed with the number. Unfortunately, the only reason why the Circle's actually bothered modernizing is because that asshole managed to talk them into it by emphasizing the "mystic significance of the mechanical magic of telecommunications". Rumor has it that even the Master themself, that mysterious figure at whose command the entire Circle moves, was persuaded to modernize. Admittedly, they only bothered with a telegraph line, but it's still a testament to the persuasive ability of that asshole.

That said, there's a lot to be said for technology. Like running water, electric lights, cars, and indoor heating. Though all things considered, you'd have to say that the best thing about it-

Your dial tone stops, and is replaced with an unnervingly friendly female voice, helpfully informing you that the number you are dialing is not available at this time. You pull your phone away from your face specifically to stare at it dubiously, before redialing. Again, the same response.

By the seventh time, you start to suspect that there may be a problem. Actually, you're fairly certain there's a problem. You know the people in charge of communications for the Circle, and the only time they'd allow such an excessive lapse in communications is if they're dead, or if they've been ordered to cease contact. Neither of which bode very well for you.

You pursue a few alternative means of contact, but you doubt they'll bear much fruit for a fair while. Your teacher probably doesn't even remember she has an email, and the postal service takes a metaphorical eternity when attempting to handle international mail – a flaw you'll make sure to remedy when you take over.

You have your doubts about the messenger pigeon, but maybe you'll get lucky.

In the meantime, you are going to pursue alternative arrangements.

Now, which organization do you know that has reason to recognize your magnificence and act in your favor, already has significant connections with the school, and most importantly, hasn't inexplicably vanished off the face of the Earth?

Half an hour later, you are very carefully breaking into a private hospital owned, as far as you know, by the Mountbatten Trust, with part-ownership by the Akagami Group. The security is so lacking it barely registers as an obstacle. You pause to steal two square meters of synthetic skin for your minion. Your natural presence and confident stride carry you smoothly to Jennifer's room, where you incapacitate the two very obvious guards standing outside her door, plant yourself in a chair next to her, and start paging through your chemistry homework.

One minute and nineteen seconds later, one of Jennifer's board members throws himself through the door, panting from breath, a pistol in his uninjured hand, and goggles at you.
"GET AWAY FROM- what!? What are you doing?"

"Finishing up my chemistry homework. And waiting for you to show up, obviously." You reply drily. You are very concerned for your future underling, if this is the quality of the forces she commands.

"What do you want." He snarls through gritted teeth.

"Well, I've acquired a new minion. I just want you to put her into the school with me, in my class." You give him a winning smile.

"Fine." He hisses. "Now get. Out."

You stop. Completely. Every fiber of your being stills. Slowly, you turn to him, glaring with manic intensity.
Everything in the room, from the clocks on the walls to the Vice-President by the door freezes into utter stillness under the weight of something utterly inhuman.
Then, in three quick steps, you cross the room, grab him by the collar, lift him up, and slam him against the wall hard enough to knock one of the framed landscapes across the room.

"Do not presume to command me, wretch." You murmur dully. Your voice is flat and emotionless. "I permit your owner to address me as an equal out of respect for her efforts and her power. You have earned no such privilege."
Color begins to seep out of the room.
You drop him and walk out the door, sliding it shut behind you. The next hour or so passes in a haze of grim fury. You assume, from the blood on your knuckles, that you got into at least one fistfight, but by the time you return to consciousness, you're already home, with an eager little minion standing in front of you with her arms and legs spread, preparing to be skinned.

No, skinning someone means removing their skin. This is covering. Or re-skinning. Or something.

By the time you've gotten her skinned and attired, she almost looks respectable. You're very surprised; you wouldn't have expected it of the normally bubbly little creation. Now, if only she were a little less blatantly inhuman whenever she starts talking.
Nonetheless, you go through with your plan the following day. True to their word, Jennifer's minions have somehow gotten Locke into the system, and of course, she is absolutely ecstatic to be following her Progenitor in his daily affairs.

You'v even gotten her to call you Master Crowne in the presence of others. You don't need to be known as a teenage father – that's not the kind of reputation you're looking for.

As she stands at the front of the classroom and introduces herself, you now just have to deal with your classmates' reactions to her. You just hope they don't prove too inconvenient to you in the future.

How are your classmates taking to her?
[] Well. Very well. She's managed to attract the attention of every eye in the room, as is only fitting for your first and most magnificent creation.
[] Apathetically. She's just another student, inserting herself smoothly into their groups. A perfect infiltration, as expected of your first and most magnificent creation.
[] Poorly. Your classmates are already drawing away from her, in their folly. Their envy for your first and most magnificent creation shows clearly.
[] Oddly. Not only do they seem to have trouble noticing her, she doesn't seem to be doing so well either. Something is wrong here.

QM: You're still not the most easily pissed off of the apprentices by a significant margin. Congratulations?

Of course a creation of the king would be magnificent in the eyes of the masses.

It's always nice to see this Quest progress! :D

Locke's portrait is fascinating, in a morbid way. Surely our classmates are going to be scared shitless mesmerized by her!

I wonder if she'll share characteristics with Yuno, whose picture she shares.
