To be fair, Ivara was not a member of Baka Ranger or the Exploration Club and she spend most of her time with Archery or running Courier. Her tagging along here is almost entirely on a whim.
So if he goes to swing this hammer of his, how about we channel our kunai and Navigate it to cut off the golems fingers so he can't complete said swing?

I've run an Infiltrator Ivara on Lua spy for months now since the augment came out, and I've walked through every single laser I've come across to no ill effect.
You know, seat of Orokin power and prestige? Gathering place of the Council of Seven? Site of many Orokin laboratories conducting research on the Tenno?

The design of Lua is really frustrating. Hard to move through quickly due to how cluttered it is, home to those annoying challenge rooms, and all the puzzles are wonky. It looks pretty.
They cared more about making it look pretty than making play on it smooth. The challenges though...wow. Those feel intentionally tedious, not hard, just annoying to do.
[Assisting the Girls: 14/4 = Pass. You noticed something important.]
It seems as though the girls on the board are doing well enough with Springfield-sensei's assistance, moving quickly through the questions posed by the stone guardians. The format of the questions is simple, merely asking for hiragana translations of certain words in English. There's no asking for grammatical rules or explanation of syntax… The words being translated are quite familiar to you as well; they are all drawn from a list of words included on the examinations for this semester.
Does that make sense?
You think carefully for a moment as Kaede shimmies her foot past Makie's elbow. The entire library complex is based in Mahora, and the schools are basically the main centres of power within the campus. This place values knowledge and education above all else, the highly regimented lecture schedule and the constant, never-ending batteries of tests and assignments are engineered to produce students with a bare minimum of knowledge for… For day-to-day life, as it were. Or that is how Takahata-sensei explained it to you. The children come here to receive an education, so that they are better prepared for life ahead.
As Asuna crawls under Ku Fei in an attempt to put her foot down, you realise something important. The voice is familiar. The phrase "young lady", distorted as it is, still seems familiar. You'd be foolish to discount it as a mere coincidence. You glance over at Konoka, who is eagerly providing hints and support to the girls on the board. She has blood relations to the headmaster, and you know that she frequently visits and consults and interacts with him, as one of her only family members currently on campus. She had been the first to suggest supporting your classmates, and she knew of several shortcuts throughout this place that Yue had been unaware of beforehand…
You tug on her sleeve as she is trying to mime out something,
"Konoe-sama? Could I have a moment?"
"What's up Ivara?"
"Does it, erm. Do the statues sound a little… familiar to you, Konoe-sama?"
The two of you stare at the one holding the hammer as it states the next question. Konoka hesitates a moment as she bites her lip.
"I don't think… so?" she mumbles, "N-now that you mention it, actually…"
"I believe it sounds like your grandfather, the headmaster," you confirm, carefully withdrawing the kunai from the sleeve of your uniform, "I'm a bit concerned we might be dealing with-"
"THAT IS INCORRECT!" one of the guardians yells, raising its hammer up high.
===
You know Ivara is a little… different from everyone else.
She's very alert and observant, almost to the point of paranoia. When she was first introducing herself to the class, you felt as though… as though she was sizing everyone up. When she wasn't taking notes about the lessons, she was taking notes on everything else around her, entire notebooks just filled with information about things. Sketches, diagrams, charts. Everything.
And there was always this nervous tension in her movements. She was like a tightly wound spring, just waiting to burst- Like a bow, so much energy held in those limbs- She only ever seemed to be at ease when she was on the archery range, where she would shoot away her worries, losing herself in that eerily perfect form she was becoming known for around the campus.
When she stepped into the library, you couldn't shake off the feeling that she knew something about this place. The way she kept her eyes glued to her surroundings, staring into the shadows and corners. How lightly she stepped here and there, never making a sound as she glided through the halls. The way she moved at ease on the ropes, how she quickly learned how to spot and disarm traps, kept to the mission- she treated this like a mission, a military one.
Ivara had been talking to you about the statues. About how they sounded like your grandfather. You had the same thought the first time you heard them, but you had chalked that up to a coincidence. She had confirmed what you were thinking, but were too sceptical to accept.
And when it all started going south, Ivara sprang into action.
She had grabbed your shoulder, pulling you away from the board and pushing you towards Negi. A glint of metal- what was that- flies from her outstretched hand as she points at the hammer wielding statue. The statue with the spear blocks something, sparks filling the air as its body fractures-
A lot of things don't add up. A lot of things don't make sense if you really think about it. All the things you've seen, you can't simply dismiss it as tricks of the eye and slips of the mind.
The air next to you explodes, nearly knocking you over- what was that?
All your life, you had this feeling in your heart. That you're missing something. You're not getting the whole picture.
The spear wielding statue has fallen, Ivara on top of it as she slams her heel into the centre of the fractures, shattering it instantly.
You know it's true. Your family carefully deflects when you press them for answers, refusing to plainly deny something so ridiculous.
In a split second after that, the hammer wielding one smashes the board, and everyone begins falling into the depths below.
There is no other logical explanation.
The last thing you remember as you're falling is how Ivara's eyes burned bright blue, fear and terror in them as she reaches out to you.
===
You feel that familiar sensation wash over you as you drift into unconsciousness.
Floating here in this empty void, halfway between here and there, all is silent and calm.
You live. You die. You live again. It is an old, familiar dream. One that you know well.
You blink.
You're standing outside your room, hand on the doorknob as you're about to go in.
Kaede smiles at you, "See you tomorrow then, Ivara?"
She won't see tomorrow.
===
You jolt upright, clutching at your throat, gasping for air as you cough out the water. You shake your soaked hair aside as your eyes race back and forth.
"Where."
Here, there?
"Girls?"
Where are they?
"Girls?"
There, ahead of you.
Their bodies, splayed out against the sand and the stone.
"No. No."
You stumble out of the water, rushing over to Kaede, face down in the dim light.
"Kaede. Kaede?"
You turn Kaede over and over, tearing her blazer off as you put an ear to her chest.
There is a pulse. Stars, the sound of a beating heart was never so welcome.
Kaede lets out a pained groan as your grip tightens.
"Oww, oww… Ivara?" she mumbles as she returns the hug, "It's okay, Ivara. I'm okay. What happened?"
You shake your head, burying it further in her shoulder, pale blue sparks flying off your hair. The others are beginning to wake up as well.
"Too slow, they- they got us. Ssorry."
You're quite ashamed. The statue with the spear had been unexpectedly nimble, intercepting the kunai meant for the hammer wielder, who then proceeded to break the board and send you all plummeting.
"I thin- I-I also lost your kunai," you mumble, "I'm sssrry Kaede,"
Kaede tilts her head a little, smiling away as she always did,
"It's okay, Ivara. We're all safe, and-"
You blink as she holds your shoulders,
"Ivara, why are your eyes glowing?"
You look down, and you see that your hands are sparking blue with energy, gently pulsing through your veins, the waves and current streaming into your fingertips...
You can feel it in the air, the smell of ozone growing stronger by the second. That growing heat, that unnatural warmth flowing through your limbs. A lone spark leaps off your hand and lands on Kaede's hair-
You try to push her away-
"Wait, just relax," Kaede whispers, wrapping her arms around you, "Calm down, Ivara. Breathe."
Your breath hikes and catches as she gently pats your back. Your hands clenchinig and unclenching. You count the seconds carefully, the numbers coming to you with the years of practice. Your chest hurts so much, your heart pounding against your ribs like a ram at a fortress gate. As you feel that energy slowly dying away, you count the seconds and the minutes, just being held by Kaede.
Kaede's eyes are just a crack open.
"I won't ask, Ivara. Tell me when you're ready." she whispers.
[Control... 10/10 = Pass. You have it under control. Just.]
Hey guys,
Let me apologise for the long silence and for the lack of updates to this; been rather busy with exam season and all. I am still working on this story, quietly plugging away when I can find the time. After the last paper this week, I've got all summer to work on this. Please bear with me for the moment.
That said, do not adjust your set. There is more to come.
did, did we just burn a revive? cause coming to with a start and brimming with barely controlled void energy sounds a lot like using a revive to me. Goddamit, if we were actually here we would have been killed! we are going to have words/ a fight to the death with the headmaster after this!
