Just a brief update on the state of things for everyone: It's been crunch time recently, so its been an on-and-off process for the last update. Thanks for being patient with me thus far.

Self-deprecating: It's not Warframe without Primed DElays somewhere.

Thinking a little carefully about the sorts of questions they'd be likely to ask you, it seems as though they'd be likely to prioritise your safety first, followed by gathering more information about who you are and what you were doing so far into the library by yourself. Probably some mild threats to report you to the administration, depending on whether or not they feel like giving you a chance to stay out of trouble.

You're very obviously capable of taking care of yourself, and Kino-senpai is likely to point that out and corroborate your claims as well. Insisting that you're quite alright and trying to avoid the topic should be fine. Now as to what they could potentially interrogate you on…

Well, no point hiding who you are. You did introduce yourself to Kino-senpai, and they basically know what you look like, so it wouldn't be hard for them to pick up whatever public details there are out there. And (sadly,) there are only so many people about your height in the middle school section, and that sort of draws attention and some level of infamy in itself. Nothing you can do about that, so you might as well just be straight in your introduction and keep to your cover story.

As far as they should be concerned, you really did just walk in through the front door. It's not hard when you can simply prowl right past what few custodians there were at the entrance to the library, but your seniors don't need to know that. Just make it seem as if the staff at the front didn't see you walk in. Yes, that should be fine as well. You're not completely making up lies. Just omitting some details which would explain the situation more precisely.

That should do.

While your other seniors seem to accept what you've said, Reika-san is still the most wary of your claims, raising an eyebrow in scepticism as you claim to have snuck past the front entrance.

"Really, Tenno-chan?" she wonders, rubbing her chin curiously, "Are you sure you didn't come in from one of the secret entrances?"

"What, like the one on the beachside?" Hiiragi-senpai suggests, "I mean, that's usually one of the first ones most people find out about, right?"

So that 'secret entrance' was an open secret amongst the students, huh? If even mundanes were aware of it through (presumably) fumbling around and encountering it by chance, there was probably a non-zero chance that the magically aware administration was obviously aware of it, right?

But then again, why crack down on it too hard? It's not like the students most interested in the library are intending to do harm or mischief to it. And if your assumptions are correct, then even a student who has gotten wildly stranded by themselves will probably be picked up by someone if they get into any real trouble.

If you were being especially generous, you could even argue that a hostile actor coming to Mahora to access its archives would be dissuaded by that vampire's presence. You grudgingly accept that the threat of a much more powerful being ready to terminate you on sight should be sufficiently persuasive reason to not casually attempt to access the library.

Hmph. It seems like a very fragile arrangement. You hope that they have more robust and reliable contingencies beyond Evangeline, especially if they have such valuable archives here. Whatever.

You give your senpai a mild smirk, "Secret beachside entrance, you say?"

It takes him a moment to realise what he's just let you on to, followed by Reika-senpai smacking him lightly upside the head, chastising him for enabling their juniors to get themselves into further trouble.

The route taken by your seniors is actually much faster than you anticipated. Apparently, your seniors are much more confident in taking risks than you thought was normal, and took you on your word that you would be able to keep up with them. Even Kino-senpai seems to have sped up more, struggling less now that he's gotten back with his group. It's quite pleasing to have picked up the pace a little bit.

Of course, it then occurred to you that perhaps the Library club girls were taking it nice and slow for the sake of the newcomers who were accompanying you all during that particular expedition…

You think there's still a lot of room for improvement on the route though. If you were to simply ditch the lines and just scale a few of the shorter shelves, perhaps run across the sides of one or two of them to get to the stable sections of the library quickly. There were at least three places along the trail you think were good to make long jumps across, four if you had a bit of a running start.

Arriving at their base camp, you spot a blonde foreigner waving keenly at your approaching group.

"Miss Reika! Yooo hoooo!"

Yes. The excitable voice you've heard from time to time on their radios. Jeanne Luthier, foreign exchange student. Japanese Literature with "Special Studies".

In other words, a magical student.

While the others head over to the portable desk to unload their gear, you're briefly caught off-guard when Jeanne walks up to you and clasps your hands,

"My my! You are cuter in person than I had imagined," she begins, "You must tell me how you got down there so fast, my dear."

Squirming a bit in her grasp, you reply, "Practice. Lots of practice,"

She smiles quite pleasantly, "Oh? I am assuming a little bit of magic was involved, no?"

"There's no such thing as magic," you grumble, finally managing to shake her off.

What is up with people at Mahora and their willingness to expose the supposed secret of magic? And how is she so confident that you are aware of magic?

"Very simple. Your eyes are quite another type of blue! Such beautiful eyes cannot be simply mundane, no?"

Really. After a few moments, you glance aside at the rest of the group, starting to list out their next course of action,

"Regardless of whether that's true, should we really be talking about it in front of these people?"

"While they are very smart, I am certain my friends do not understand French, my dear," Jeanne giggles, giving you one last pat on the head, "Nonetheless, you must share with me the secrets to your climb. My friends back in Amiens would love to get an edge on their next attempt."

French? Were you speaking in French? You mumble out a few hesitant excuses, unpleasantly surprised by just how French they sounded. When did you start…

Hmm.

Now that you think about it. Japanese would be an archaic language as well. You didn't think it through before, but why do you know Japanese, despite it being a dead language? And then how did you seamlessly switch to French without even realising it?

The blonde foreigner gestures for you to join the rest of the group, "Come come, Ivara. They are waiting for us,"

You think you're going to keep your mouth shut if Jeanne is talking for now.

This is a question you need to get an answer to eventually.

Aside from briefly meeting your seniors in the library and getting an assurance from Kino-senpai that he'd help you retrieve the bow 'next time', the rest of the week at school passes by uneventfully.

The time for the mediated ceasefire with Evangeline to be formalised has come. You've had more time to cool down and think a little more about it.

How will you approach the meeting?

[] Guarded. This is a ceasefire, not a peace settlement. You do not have to like her. You do not have to trust her. All you need is to do is sit and smile and watch Evangeline like a hawk during these talks.

[] Conciliatory. As the headmaster suggests, you are going to give Evangeline a chance. You will forgive, even if you will not forget. Put a little bit of effort in looking 'friendly' in front of Takahata-sensei.

This is an easy choice.

I'm very excited to see this story updated again.

Because I like the conflict with Eva and Ivara has already declared a fued.

Sometimes you just don't get along with people.

No particular reason. Just seems more amusing.
