Limitless Potential (Star Wars/The Gamer)

Guys, its a write-in for a plan.
Put your Munchkin, Minmax hats on. The longer the vote the better

Training Clairvoyance just means that if you get an Active skill as part of the rest of the training, you wont train it and instead focus on Passives and Clairvoyance

[X] Train Clairvoyance at the expense of any Active Skill use (even if you discover some)
[X] Go bash a tree with a stick
[X] STUDY!
[X] Look up "The Gamer" on the Holonet...maybe someone knows about this stuff
[X]all at the same time

[X] Train Clairvoyance at the expense of any Active Skill use (even if you discover some)
[X] Go bash a tree with a stick
[X] STUDY!
[X] try to feel the FP draining from you when you use clairvoyance and try to manipulate it if you can

how about we don't search the gamer on the holonet and get caught by palpatine or vader.

Sorry, wasn't sure what to put in so as to avoid attention from the Empire. Would it look strange to the rest of the orphanage if we suddenly started exercising? Do we have any friends that will notice a shift in our behavior?

I also worry that looking up Gamers on the holonet can be traced back to us. It would be a convenient way of finding them.

Anyway, this is a preliminary plan:
[X] Plan Shadows Everywhere
-[X] Add your 6 points to Wisdom.
-[X] Train Clairvoyance at the expense of any Active Skill use (even if you discover some)
-[X] Check your Status to see if there is something unusual there.
-[X] Tell anyone who's curious that you've been a it depressed lately, but it's nothing major. Discuss what you'll do after the orphanage if they pry further.
-[X] STUDY
--[X] Look for techniques to improve your memory/reading speed. If you find one to let you perfectly memorize something, employ that to memorize books while comprehending them during your Clairvoyance's downtime.
--[X] Read up on History. Maybe there's something in the books about unusual powers? Look for examples of what Force Adepts are purported to do.
--[X] Since this might have something to do with your parents or race and the Empire doesn't hold a high opinion of Miraluka, look for ways to hide what's happening to you. Read spy novels? Think of ways you would search for someone with your abilities.
--[X] Spend some time Observing people and technology in your orphanage. It's not like you'll find bugs or spies anywhere, but it's a good habit to get into.
-[X] Comb the Holonet for descriptions of various games. If your power is called The Gamer, there might be a relation, and you can always say you wanted to entertain yourself.

You can spend points too. You have a few unspent ones.
This isnt like The Gamer manwha where grindable and level-up stats are the same, a level-up stat increases their natural score

Huh. Didn't notice the char-sheet being up. So we have 6 points to spend? I'm thinking of investing it in Wisdom, since we need more regen for our Clairvoyance. And we already have Observe? I'll add that to the plan then.

Any objections?

Oh look another Miraluka quest... this is what, the fifth?

The third or fourth, but those other quests never left the chargen stage. I'm hoping it will actually progress this time.

Nope. Sounds good to me.

I don't understand, you say its not like the gamer, but then explain it is exactly like the gamer manwha.
The whole reason in the manwha why it doesn't pay to spread stats around is that it increases their natural score and thus makes it harder to grind further

the the manwha stats are a single number and to grind them gets harder the higher they go no matter if it's from previous grinding or level up points.

Lordchaos has them split so that grinding stats is based on how much you grinded only.

Ok, I went and looked at the char sheet and now it makes sense. The phrasing of the explanation in the post I quoted sounds like it is the same at first glance, but the char sheet indicates how it is different and makes quite a lot of sense

In "The Gamer" the is no limit to Grinding your stats, it is level-independent. In this, the maximum you can grind a stat is equal to 5 + Level + StatUps applied from levelling
Grinding stats also only gets harder based on Grinded stat, that is to say spending all your points in Strength now, wont make it harder for you to gain your first StrengthGrind point. Though it is a steeper curve to compensate for this, it gets harder faster

for grinding stats you have:
Maximum Grind: Natural score + 4

Does that mean the current cap for Str: 8 (0/8) is Str: 20 (12/8)?

Also is there anyway we can get a hint of what the Noob title does? And for Student we are 16. I would assume we have had more then 1 year of school in our life.

Yes it is
And if you put Points in stats it becomes 22 (13/9)
And if you level up it becomes Natural Score + 5

You don't know IC how to find out what Noob gives you
You earn the Title for accomplishing that goal. Exceeding it is not noted, you earned Student when you were in Grade2

In this, the maximum you can grind a stat is equal to 5 + Level + StatUps applied from levelling

And if you level up it becomes Natural Score + 5
Currently the cap on the FP is Natural+4 but you mention it as N+5 and later say to becomes N+5 when we level. Is it supposed to be N+5 now or does the +X change overtime as we level up?

Oh right, I need to show my math more

You are level4 right now
leveling up gives 5 stat points right?
You do not have 20 unspent points, you have 6

A lvl0 Character has a 5 in every stat, you spent Stats before you Awoke as you lived your life, just not all of them

Natural: 5 +Assigned Stats
Maximum Grind: (Natural) +Level

ok makes sense. I thought you meant the cap went up but I wasn't sure if it was +1 per level or if there was going to be something special controlling it.

Oh dont worry, there may or may not be skills, titles and items that may or may not adjust Natural, Max Grindable and Total stat scores.
You just don't know about them yet, if they exist or not

You guys chose one of the two 'I dont have anyone to tell me stuff!' options remember

The week begins your exploration of your new power.

Focusing on keeping your Clairvoyance up constantly, you grow quickly frustrated. You had grown used to the sight before this power had activated, the small pool of FP draining fast even as the draw shrank
Until, in one of your blindness-induced fidgeting with your status, you noticed the addendum on your Force Capacity. Wisdom enhanced your capabilities to see, the more points you had the longer sight returned to you.

Anyone watching you brooding, would have been bewildered by the sudden shift in your expression, a dazzling smile that lights up the room. You think...light vision is weird and people contradict themselves about it...
You shrug away the sudden though as you feel your power surge within you, the gray contours of the room refreshing itself into existence as fuel returns
Due to continuous intelligent activities, Your wisdom has increased by 1
[OK]

Wha...So you can increase Wisdom that way too, by just thinking about things? Is it the same for other abilities?

You glide over the floor, all but walking on air as your viewpoint on this ability shifts. It may render you blind for a few days, but things are already changing.
Your eyes roam further from your body than ever before and see in crisper more shaded blacks, whites and grays. You even think you sometimes see hints of what you think is color, similar to what living beings have swirling inside them.
You think what you see is Green...it looks so different from the Blue and Red of people... Then again you don't really know what colors actually look like...

Selecting a book from your Comm you happily devour it, eyes interpreting the strange motions on the air with long experience back into legible words.
A simple textbook for your previous school year, with the title of "Biology Year 11" according to both it's cover and the Observe action
Stifling a yawn as the tedious and dry book tires you out, you force your eyes through the pages until...
Your guess is validated as the blue box reappears in front of your eyes.
Thanks to the continuous studies,
Your Intelligence has increased by 1
[OK]

Tapping the button to dismiss the notice, you recheck your character sheet, noticing the changes.
Your FP has nearly doubled in size, and with it your regeneration ability and both Intelligence and Wisdom have gained points in the normal score but also where the 0 was previously, within the bracket...a limit to how much you can train? But no, because the limit is also added onto the score...

There is just so much information here. You have a passing familiarity with RPGs and other Hologames but you aren't a nerd by any stretch
Perhaps others are having this same gift, or the more erudite and nitpicky geeks will be able to help.
A few quick searches on the "Czerkacorp Holonet Compuware MKVII" you find over a dozen communities devoted to either the historical Jedi abilities or a few hardcore fans of the gaming world raving about some new 'MMORPG' called "Korriban Knights: A Tale of the Sith"

Select 2 communities to devote time researching and asking questions in:
[ ] Destro.net - A site dedicated to researching the old Jedi Order from it's roots. Before they turned against the Republic and were it's staunch defenders back millenia ago
[ ] QuestForTheTruth.hol - A conspiracy theorist site devoted almost purely to Jedi. Many sides are represented here, from the ones disbelieving the Jedi even had powers and were a myth, to those that thought their betrayal was a lie, to others that thought the Jedi are actually in charge f everything and faked their death on an organizational level because some people got close to the Truth
[ ] GEEK.com - A gaming site said to be frequented by anonymized industry giants, this thriving community is filled with ideas for new games (be they holonet, tabletop or more traditional screen-based computer games) and has a board dedicated to looking for ways to improve and break new systems (so they can be patched and fixed of course)
[ ] SithKnight.com - The forums of the yet-to-be released game Korriban Knights. Something about it rubs you the wrong way and you want to investigate deeper... (WIS check passed: 10+)
[ ] Sufficient Velocity.com - A gaming site for debate and versus debates. Probably the leading source of esoteric gaming knowledge

The next few days, when you aren't browsing the Holonet on your comm, is spent re-exploring your home. Observing the residents and studying every book in the small orphanage-library, feeling your powers expand.
Every nook and cranny examined, every peer and teacher looked at. The experience counter ticking up and over again and again, with an almost addictive PING

Intelligence riding up and up as you read your way through an entire library worth of books (albeit a very small excuse for a library), however not all books allowed themselves to be read.
The first, a book titled "Beauty Tips: A guide to drawing characters" popped up with a request to learn a skill from it...and when of course you selected to accept the skill it crashed the Holocomm you were reading from, and when you rebooted the damn thing the book had vanished from the archive like it was never there!
Needless to say you rejected any attempts to learn skills from there

Until, on the day before your return to school, your power changed again
Observe has achieved Maximum level (10)
Observe detects details about the object or person being observed, showing potential traps or overlooked details
Observe now passively shows:
-Name
-Title (requires lvl24 or lower)
-Current Level (requires lvl 54 or lower)
-Up to Very Well-Hidden Traps
-Up to Well-Hidden Surveillance
Observe can actively show:
-Total Stats
-Short biography
-4 Unequipped Titles
-Current emotions
-Current and Maximum HP and FP
-Faction Allegiance(s)
[OK]

Clairvoyance has achieved Maximum level (15)
Allows the user to see the sight beyond sight, tapping into the Force to see what others cannot
Costs 1MP to Sustain
Duration: 40 minutes
Clairvoyance has a range of 15 meters and can selectively see through objects within 40 meters as if they were not there

While many of your ideas to hide your abilities float through your head, you have no real way to test them...if only there was some kind of spy book in the library, but unfortunately it was bereft, though now you think about it they would likely contain skills and detonate the file again..

You have so many decisions to make on how to use this new power

[ ] Write-In plan
[ ] Attend school and try to fit in, perhaps they might teach you skills too?
[ ] Attend school and try to excel, spend your free time when not training, doing homework and grinding that Intellect to achieve great academic results
[ ] Fuck school, go truant and...
[ ] Try to practice and create a skill, maybe if you could disguise yourself you could run if people found out you were Force Sensitive

OOC: Next chapter will be a bit more character-oriented, its just you spent the majority of the time blind this past week and the rest either online or reading
I rolled for both Speed-Reading and Spy novels and rolled a 4 and a 1 respectively (on a D20). This was only the orphanage library though, get some money to buy your own bookfiles from an online store or head down to the public library and your selection expands massively.
You do not currently have a library card for the public library
