Let's Play Every Final Fantasy Game In Order Of Release [Now Playing: Final Fantasy IX]

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Alright, I'm back home, Let's Play to resume soon (boy was it serendipitous that I left the last update on the end of Disc 2, wasn't it?).
I was hoping that "A month out on the family farm" meant time out somewhere picturesque in rural France and maybe some cute farm animal pictures to share with the class, and not being condemned to hard labor in the French Onion Soup mines.
Pros: Adorable animals.

Cons: they hunger

Pretty ideal stopping point, yes.

In the spirit of talking of the game, I have things to remind you of which you might have forgotten during the absence!

First: when you play Tetra Master, if you save state at the start of each game, you can keep state loading until the card battles go your way; the result of each battle is random, so you can always win them if you reset hard enough. This makes winning games trivial.

Second: don't forget that the last time you visited Dali, you couldn't enter in the major's house because the major was there to chase you away - so if you were to reach Dali while the major isn't home, you might be able to find some key items hidden in the major's home! And don't forget that the gate pass lets you go from Treno to Dali on foot.

Third: since it's been a long time, maybe you forgot when Steiner was told of what each of the Pluto Knights specializes into! Those were as such:
-The double super-sleuths, Blutzen and Kohel.
-Our most inspirational writer, Laudo.
-The most famous artillerist in the realm, Dojebon.
-The only man who can name all the girls in town, Weimar.
-The knight with the knack for navigating the neighborhood, Haagen.
-The winner of last year's cannonball race, Mullenkedheim.
And the one who gave you all of this information was Breireicht.

Not like that might be important information to know to make sure you succeed at missions with a limited time window that give you otherwise missable rare items that can only be acquired in limited numbers, or anything. :)

Speaking of Final Fantasy Tactics, Agrias is apparently the favorite character of a certain mangaka of 'high cultured' works called Amahara, a mad genius in perverted comedy. She's so his favourite character that he wrote several doujins featuring her and put a character looking like her into Interspecies Reviewers (although her appearance was changed for the anime adaptation to avoid Squeenix ninja lawyers).

Not knowing anything of Interspecies Reviewers other than its reputation of being basically barely-censored porn, I'm now kind of curious how much the Agrias-lookalike resembles Agrias the character as appearing in FFT, and how much is based on, well, her character archetype and associated stereotypes and memes.

As mentioned, Agrias is the Proud Haughty Noble Lady Knight, which is its own character archetype in the faux-European fantasy settings in Japanese media. It's also very closely intertwined with another character archetype, this time found largely in porn: the Proud etc Lady Knight who gets defeated and captured and thus suffers "a fate worse than death", which being porn is predictably not a subject to discuss casually.

This character archetype is tagged くっころ "kukkoro", which is short for the usual line in that situation: "くっ、殺せ", translating to "Ugh, just kill me".

Like the "over-dramatic pretty-boy black-hearted schemer" archetype that Kuja is drawing upon, though, this has become so much of a stock character that most of the time, it's seen in comedy: the Proud etc Lady Knight who is so Proud and Haughty that she immediately assumes every setback is "a fate worse than death", and says the line when her latest manga manuscript is rejected or something.

Sometimes this does get used in situations where it's reasonable to react badly, but not that badly; the usual example is "I, a noble lady knight, have lost in this duel, and as punishment I must wear this maid uniform/swimsuit". Reasonable to be embarrassed and angry, but not exactly the sort of thing to prefer death over.

I must emphasize again this is common enough to be "stock character". Any remotely similar Lady Knight character gets memed by fans into one of these, no matter how seriously the original source material treats them. Steiner from FFIX gets memed into "kukkoro" as well. For those more familiar with the character, Saber from the Fate series also gets this treatment plenty, although the examples I've seen largely involve being her being denied her favourite foods.

Agrias in FFT is not really that much of a stereotype to be a "kukkoro", but fandom mutation might turn her into one. Hence my curiosity.

The character in question is a failed actress who works as a succu-girl at a roleplay (fantasy BDSM) place, her Knightess costume is basically Agrias and she has blonde hair in the original manga (Passione made her a brunette in the anime adaptation to dodge lawyers).

Also the manga actually isn't THAT spicy, once again Passione added the spiciness to the anime adaptation, for good or ill. It's actually a pretty educational manga and the worldbuilding is very detailed.

And yes, one of Amahara's works features her allowing Ramza to mess with her while she was under the Stop status.

The site's also been less harsh on stuff like this lately and so some people gotten a bit bolder with talking about that kind of stuff even though they should really keep it out of threads like this
