Couple of Horsemanship prayers/rote ideas to shoot in the wind @DeadmanwalkingXI

1. In conjunction with the Grip of Samson, a rote that helps prevent being knocked off/unseated (bendy maneuvering on the saddle)
2. A prayer to allow for seamless mounting and unmounting
3. A prayer to help maneuver a horse through terrain with lots of Obstacles sticking out (City/Town/Woods/Rocks)

Edit: Is using our Rope Shape as a pseudo-whip allowed?

There is no way we can fit a prayer like that into our capacity. We are better off using the Zeal to just improve our horsemanship skill directly.

Same goes for the other 2 ideas really.

Also our horse is able to make use of our meditations including Perfect Footing and bounding leap.
Edit: I really can't think of any horsemanship skill prayers that aren't just horsemanship. Or just redundant when our horse is intelligent and has access to our meditations.

Maybe learning to ride up vertical walls? And then move onto air riding? I would say waterriding, but that is already covered.

Or maybe lifelink? All attacks that hit one of us are split between the two of us. Sort of halfing the damage.

I'm just hoping Aalis is in the 'exiled noble' kind of camp as opposed to 'actively did crimes' or worse…
Mind you, this is ancient Wessex. It is in principle fully possible for Aalis to have been sent to a nunnery for crimes SV wouldn't recognize.

Aalis: "My only crimes were throwing rad parties and writing good poetry about Charlemagne and Roland."

1. You can already do a very good job of not getting knocked out of the saddle...Grip of Samson would already apply. A Meditation to resist that even better is possible, but maybe overkill.
2. This is below the level of abstraction, you're already seamless.
3. Another case of 'technically allowed but you're already so good it's largely superfluous'...Perfect Footing can be used to do most of the things you'd want this for.

Edit: Is using our Rope Shape as a pseudo-whip allowed?

It's not a very good one but kinda...what use case were you thinking of?

Would a rope trap rote be possible? Would be fun to trap the beaches before the Norse land.

Leaving a lot of these lying around is probably not possible with Rope Shape, your Hama is a limited resource. You could do one or two but you're probably better off with a mundane 'expert trapmaker' Prayer, which would be available under Scouting.

Not quite the same, but Osric pulled an 'invisible noose' trick during the tournament.
Osric considered his approach and eventually decided the way to go. A shockwave through the ground would force the enemy to jump, luring him into the invisible noose he was wrapping around the tree branch above. Immobilizing him long enough to go for his tendons, binding his movements by the time he broke out.
Not applicable in all situations, but against a foe like Audrey even being tied up for a single moment can prove deadly.

In-combat rope-trap related stuff is 100% a viable plan with Rope Shape...leaving them lying around in numbers before combat, especially at all times, probably not so much.

How many Spider-Man tricks can we duplicate using rope and web shape?

Can web shape sticky be used to wall crawl? Or can we do that already by 'griping' the wall?

Web Shape ain't sticky, Hama Shapes don't impart transformations or anything to the Hama, it's just Hama in the shape of a web. Think of it like you got some thread and put it around in spiderweb shapes, and then made it invisible. Hama Web Shape is very similar to that. Hama in general is just wispy invisible stuff we can interact with, and pull together enough that it becomes physical, giving us a forcefield, and if we know a specific shape well enough we can pull it together like that as well, which is the various Shapes. Kinda like playdough, you can make walls and towers and balls and whatever out of it, but it is still playdough, making it into a wall doesn't make it stronger or anything.

For walking up a wall, Perfect Footing at Perfected will apparently let us walk on walls and ceilings, so there's that. I'm not sure of Grip would let us walk up the wall, but fiddling with it might? let us do it. I'm not sure about it though.

You can tie people up or use Rope to swing from place to place in theory. Web is not sticky however, and neither is Rope.

Grip of Samson lets you touch a wall and cling to it as well as if your whole body was pressed against it, which is cool and helpful but not true wall crawling...in game terms, it would likely double Athletics for climbing just as it does for feats of strength, but that's it. It probably does make wall-crawling with other effects easier, though. Perfect Footing at Mastered can likely do wall-crawling with Grip of Samson added on, I think.

Obviously the way to get wallclimbing is to develop a Prayer that lets Audrey slam her foot into the wall hard enough to create a foothold for her to stand on.

This will definitely work without problems in all situations.

The construction of Audrey's manor was one of the major focuses of the upcoming year–after all, she couldn't just steal someone else's house forever! There just wasn't enough solitude to really focus on her meditations in the middle of the village as much as she might like–and while she could still make good progress in the bits and pieces she could snatch in the evenings when everyone started to settle down for the night, it still would be nice to have a little peace and quiet by default.

Of course, that also meant she had to import the materials that couldn't be sourced locally, hire an architect to do the design–and all of this caused her coin to flow out of her coffers like water, it wasn't enough after all for Audrey Eotenslaga to just have a half-decent place to live, she needed a manor worthy of being her home! What was money in the face of that? She could get money just by continuing to do her duty!

But while the orders went out and the letters were sent to gather what she needed for her home, Audrey found herself travelling the island! It was a small place, admittedly–she could get just about anywhere in a few minutes with Bradamante at a full gallop, but the important thing was being seen and heard by the people! To know that a Knight of Wessex was just a short cry for help away!

Her foresight was truly keen, because this year would be a difficult one on the Isle of Thanet…

It was a gloomy day in early spring, when the world seemed to go mad–fitting, given the ungodly forces that were burgeoning from the depths of history. In the liminal time between the end of winter and the start of a new spring, many things that should have been forgotten gain a new lease on life.

It was to her great fortune that Audrey Eotenslaga was out, about, and conducting one of her new habitual patrols of the island when the land shook! An explosion of dirt and earth blasting into the sky, with enough force to shake the isle!

"Is it an attack?" Audrey asked, eyes snapping to attention in the direction of the spray. "Crowley? What's going on?"

"Just a sec!" The Storm Crow sent back–shourding itself in the clouds of the firmament as he bolted in the direction of the attack. It was close to the shore–right? But the watchtowers would have lit up if it was an incoming raid–what happened?

She cast her mind into Crowley's eyes, looking down upon the isle. The dust was still settling, with splintered trees and upturned earth scattered in every direction.

A single hand, withered and decayed–in a clenched fist at the epicenter.

Upon that hand was attached an arm, once finely muscled, but now a shadow of its former self. And yet the power held within was unreasonable indeed! Tattered cloth and dried blood adorned its form.

And that arm was attached to a body–one bearing a great hole where the heart once was–where a hurled javelin took away its life.

The Draugr of Ivar Dustbringer, brother of Ekkehard Ivycross, had risen–with a desire for terrible vengeance in its decaying soul.

"Did someone not give it a proper burial!?!?" Audrey spat. "Did they really lose track of their own kills?" She spurred Bradmante to action, the Water-Horse summoning up a spray of water to accelerate her. "Crowley! Get word to Minster Abbey! We'll need more than what Aalis can handle to lay its soul to rest!"

"I've got it!" Crowley started, only to give a cry of confusion. "Wait… What are those?"

Audrey didn't come up short, but she did send her awareness back into Crowley's eyes and…

What were those?

They looked like they might have been men… But something was ever so slightly off, it wasn't the lackadaisical carelessness and savagery that Mildred had described of the Troll-Men, no… But…

Minster Abbey was about to be under siege? Apparently? By savages in rude furs and stone weapons?

How did nobody see the approach of such numbers?

Had the sentries been asleep at the wheel? Or had they simply emerged from one of those 'Wrinkles' Aalis mentioned?

She paused, hesitating–there were two problems at hand–though fortunately, she was already in the field, and had the good fortune of identifying the threats as they emerged–she could respond to both, likely.

But either problem would take time. Potentially a lot of it. A rampaging Draugr on one side, and a monastery under siege on the other. Things would assuredly develop…

For all her prowess, Audrey could only be in one place at a time–she would have to send her Huscarls to support the other front before things could get out of hand, if she wanted to address both problems.

And she would, for she was Audrey Eotenslaga! The Isle of Thanet was under her protection!

"Sound the alarm and rouse the Huscarls!" Audrey ordered Crowley. "We stand against the tide!"

You have two threats emerging simultaneously, this would have potentially been a major problem–but your Primary Focus ensured that you were actively out on patrol when this happened, meaning that you were able to identify the threats as they emerged, and thus will likely have time to respond to both.

Your Huscarls will be sent to whichever front you are not on, to buy time for you to clean up the first front, this is a choice of which one you're going to sort out first.

You do know a little about Draugr, even if it's normally not something that should happen–they exist to right some unspeakable wrong against the improperly respected dead. Their level of strength is unknown–but they're potentially nigh invincible. There's a good chance he's going after his killer–one of the Regnscurs if you're not mistaken. They're fairly wealthy, but most are only mediocre soldiers–you'll likely be the primary combattant suppressing it until someone can arrive to put it to proper rest.

Minster Abbey is–like most surviving monasteries on Thanet–a well fortified strongpoint, full of Monks and Nuns who can render it a nigh-unassailable fortress as long as their prayers last. This can be overcome by sufficient force, but you're not certain if what seems to be some strange variety of monster would qualify to do so quickly. They would have some more forceful means of dislodging attacks, but the sheer speed of the attack coming from inland (?!?) means they'll have no time to prepare them.

AN: Have fun with your Double Bad Event!

Good thing you guys were on patrol or this could have probably gotten pretty ugly!
