[X][HUSCARL] Hire the 5 Huscarls of the former thanes (About as well trained and armoured as your current Huscarls, 20 Value total, come as a unit). Also hire 5 of the additional available men (Do not have their own armour, 4 Value per man hired)
-[X] Spend 1 Wealth to equip 5 them with better gear like your existing Huscarls

Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost to buy/commission giant ballista's (and train the crews to man them) and how effective are such weapons at attacking ships? Or the people on ships?

Getting a few to help attrition a raiding force before they land might be valuable.

Near as I can tell ballista were unheard of in England in this era. They exist in the world but not anywhere nearby, you'd need to have one imported from Byzantium or something...this is likely not economically viable.

Get us an actual bloody army now so that Ryder can train them all up to "fucking scary" levels before he dies

That's a lot easier than what I was picturing, which was needing to master Grip and then use it as the starting point for laborously inventing an entirely new skill line

Yeah, Hordebreaker definitely has options to jump in the way of attacks to protect others, including groups of others. Not necessarily cheap options, mind you, but they definitely exist, they fit its idiom very well.

Here is an idea for using the light revelation for general administration use. It has been established that it is hard to use light to make something out of nothing, but how metaphorical can that be? Say we have a book full of data loads of data. Can we use light to create a chart displaying that data in a more readable format?

This has been discussed before and it's not practical for Audrey given her lack of fine control. Aalis, with training as a nun, can pull off stuff like this but Audrey's control of Revelations is less fine-tuned.

@Alectai, I believe the proper term is Dame.
Sir is cooler, so it's what we're using.
Alright, let's reverse things a bit. Can the clay be mined out from the beach and used for construction purposes? Just tear up a local beach and build a dike from its festering corpse?
Possibly, but you may be overestimating how much clay there actually is. There's enough to daub with, but that's about it

The local people are also probably not overjoyed by anything that makes their lives harder like beach destruction or rearranging the town. Walls and a Manor? No problem. Having a military force living there? Actually comforting. Stuff that seriously disrupts their lives? Potential issue.

They want safety from raiders, certainly, but not at the expense of huge inconvenience if they can avoid it. Especially not stuff that's more esoteric why it helps. Walls and soldiers are an obvious help, wrecking some beach is less so.

all that farmland with no defenses, they were asking for a raid.

Thanet is just kind of Fucked in a lot of ways, almost everyone who wants to go to the Isles passes it at some point, and that includes everyone who wants to kill you and take your stuff. It's virtually indefensible too, but it's valuable enough farmland and strategically important enough that you want to keep it regardless.

That inlet on the top left corner seems better for a harbor then what they are using. More storm protected. Then again I can't see what is under the water.

They did have defenses in the form of the previous Thane of the area, who was a competent warrior with huscarls...they just died. It's even possible they had some sort of fortified manor, though if so it's apparently no longer around.
Huh, I was sure that when I checked the existing infrastructure on the fief page, it said fortified manor but it's not there now. Did it get edited out or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I mean, not everyone who comes to your shores wants to kill you and take your stuff, or kill you and occupy your land.
Alvis: yeah! If that one brat's Fated Day hadn't happened to be the day we clashed I might hurt have been one of those friendly merchants!

Hey, with any luck maybe some of my kinsfolk will sail on by and they'll prove what I mean.

There was a communication failure on the inter-QM side of things (probably on my end), your memory is correct but there's no manor as of this moment in-universe.
