King Under the Mountain (Dwarven CK2 Quest)

[X]"There is no point to leave our ancestral home, we have everything we need here, we only need to use it."
[X] Money seemed to ever flow from your coffers without end, whenever you got low you always seemed to find a way to have more (+2 Stewardship)

Turn 1 Decisions
[x]"There is no point to leave our ancestral home, we have everything we need here, we only need to use it."

With those words, your people look around them, somewhat confused. You decide you need to clarify, "It has been 200 years since our kin fell in that final battle, human nations and orc tribes have risen and fallen since then, all without the expertise of dwarven craftsmanship. This vast hall once started no bigger than a cave, with seven dwarves with tools and a dream, we number more than them, we can make it great once more. Light the forges and our kin will come home. Trade will come once the other races know we are here."

The faces of your kin alight with understanding and hope, mutterings of agreement and ideas begin to sweep through the crowd, with a joyous air and a smile that had not graced your lips since before the war you call out, "Let us return our home to its former glory! We did not disappear into legend, we are still here!"

A cheer swept through the crowd and everyone immediately dispersed to get to work, splitting off into groups with their skills, miners heading for the metal stores, the smiths heading for the smaller forges that had not seen use for centuries, women and children working on what stores of leather were left, crafting armor and clothing, the guard going through drills, all with a fervor that you haven't seen in a long time.

You step off the bit of rubble you had stood upon to be seen by the crown when one of the smiths comes up to you and says, "My king, now that we are starting up the forges again, it occurs to us that we never forged your royal weapon, we figured it would be the best thing to make first, since you have brought us hope, what would you like for us to forge for you?"

[] A Hammer, Heavy and powerful, symbol of your skill at craftsmanship as well as your right to rule, and a promise that whatever troubles your kingdom you will be right there with them to fix the problem.
[] An Ax, Sharp and deadly, symbol of your skills as a warrior as well as your right to rule, a promise that whatever war and conflict plagues your lands you will cut it in twain.
[] A Shield, Stalwart and strong, symbol of your willingness to defend as well as your right to rule, a promise that no matter the danger that comes at your people you will stand before it and it will not touch them.

Just as well it is time for your rule to properly begin, taking the throne proper you call for the elders and your advisors to bring you the most pertinent problems that require your notice.

Martial - My King, it has been 200 years since we had a proper army or any proper patrols outside of the mountain.

[] Send out patrols to scout the immediate surroundings of the mountain (Intel)
[] We may be few but there are still sturdy warriors among us, have them begin training as the newest members of our army (Gain a small but elite force of warriors)
[] Begin training everydwarf as a militia member, all shall know how to defend themselves, (Gain Dwarven Militia, but lose productivity elsewhere)

Diplomacy - It has been centuries since our last contact with our former allies perhaps we should re-open communications with them

[] There are still those that know the old roads beneath, send them to inquire at the other Dwarven Halls. They have not been maintained since the Great War however
[] There used to be a city of men in the valley below our mountains, send a party to begin relations with them, if they are still there that is
[] There once was an Elven kingdom to the north that, while not friendly with you, were at least not your enemy. Find out if they are open to being friendlier, or if their elvish minds have decided to ignore our plight.

Intrigue - Our Enemies during the Great War were numerous, it would be wise to find out who is still around

[] Orcs, *spits* a plague on the land if there were any. They're almost certainly still around, never could get rid of them completely.
[] There was a human Empire that desired our riches, but empires rise and fall constantly, find out if this one has gone like the rest
[] The Wild Elves have never been fans of dwarven kind, raiding our patrols and caravans, always hard to find, but if there are signs of them being out there it's better to know than to suspect.

Stewardship - My King, the forges are only now being relit but we will soon run out of what little stockpiles we had in ore.

[] Mining needs to begin once more, there should still be someone who knows of an old vein of ore to get us started
[] Salvage old and rusted equipment, it is a finite resource but it is immediately available

Learning - The Runesmiths and Scholars seek out the old lore but it seems over the centuries that some of it is lost

[] Seek out the missing lore and discover why it went missing
[] Speak with the elders and get the verbal history onto new lorestones.

Personal Actions

[] Add yourself to one of the other actions to increase it's chances
[] Study the actions of your ancestors, perhaps they will have guidance for you
[] Train one of your stats, the King is to be the Pinnacle of his race, make it so.
[] Rest easy This is no time to rest if we are to regain our Glory

Plan: When the Hammer Falls
[x] A Hammer, Heavy and powerful, symbol of your skill at craftsmanship as well as your right to rule, and a promise that whatever troubles your kingdom you will be right there with them to fix the problem.

There is much work to be done, and we have nothing to do it with. So let us make a hammer.

And then, when all we have is a hammer, we will use that hammer to make the other tools we need.

Martial
[x] We may be few, but there are still sturdy warriors among us. Have them begin training as the newest members of our army. (Gain a small but elite force of warriors.)

We can ill-afford a hit to productivity this early. And while Intel would be useful, better to send trained warriors to scout and return safely, than those more likely to never come home at all.

Diplomacy
[x] There used to be a city of Men in the valley below our mountains. Send a party to begin relations with them, if they are still there, that is.

The Roads Beneath may not be safe, either in structure or in way lurks within. Again, better to wait until we have warriors who can defend themselves before probing the lightless depths. As for Men and Elves... the Men, if they are there, are simply closer. And if they are not there? Then we will at least have a report about the land on our very doorstep.

Intrigue
[x] Orcs. *Spits* A Plague on the land if there were any. They're almost certainly still around, never could get rid of them completely.

Orc must die. Orc must die. Not an Orc? March on by.

Stewardship
[x] Salvage old and rusted equipment. It is a finite resource, but it is immediately available.

Are our people supposed to pull ore from the stones with their bare hands? ...well, I wouldn't put it past some Dwarfs, but better to recover whatever we can of the craft of old. Besides, we would have had to clear this up regardless.

Learning
[x] Speak with the elders and get the verbal history onto new lorestones.

The lost lore of old isn't going to get any more lost, but the same cannot be said for what currently exists only in the minds and voices of our people.

Personal Actions
[x] Add yourself to one of the other actions to increase it's chances.
-[x] Martial.

It is one of our best stats, and the better our warriors are prepared, the more likely they will be to come home.

So, in summary:

Plan: When the Hammer Falls
[x] A Hammer, Heavy and powerful, symbol of your skill at craftsmanship as well as your right to rule, and a promise that whatever troubles your kingdom you will be right there with them to fix the problem.
Martial
[x] We may be few, but there are still sturdy warriors among us. Have them begin training as the newest members of our army. (Gain a small but elite force of warriors.)
Diplomacy
[x] There used to be a city of Men in the valley below our mountains. Send a party to begin relations with them, if they are still there, that is.
Intrigue
[x] Orcs. *Spits* A Plague on the land if there were any. They're almost certainly still around, never could get rid of them completely.
Stewardship
[x] Salvage old and rusted equipment. It is a finite resource, but it is immediately available.
Learning
[x] Speak with the elders and get the verbal history onto new lorestones.
Personal Actions
[x] Add yourself to one of the other actions to increase it's chances.
-[x] Martial.

[X] Plan: When the Hammer Falls

I strongly agree on the martial action. Before we go out, we need to work on our foundation first. Intel is something we need to be able to act on to make best use of it, and right now we lack that ability to act.

[X] Plan: When the Hammer Falls

Meh, I'd prefer to study our ancestors for personal, but this works well enough

@Rungni Khazadson you forgot to put X in brackets before your vote
