Kantai Collection - Fanfic Idea and Recs

A little saddened it's not real, given it could have meant a Kai 2 for Iowa.

Had... an odd idea for a cross...

Standing before a mirror, she took a deep breath and slowly did up here uniform. Strange, unfamiliar, like so much that she had both seen and experienced recently. As she continued, her minds trailed back to how it all began...

The first signs that something was happening was the Great Hakurei Barrier weakening. Something that should have been impossible. Of course, everyone had thought that it was an Incident. And why wouldn't they? Both the Shrine Maiden as well as the Black and White had headed out to figure things out. So too did the Shrine Maiden on the Mountain. There had to be some reason that the Barrier was weakening by the day. Yet... nothing was found.

On their side of the Barrier, at least.

The answer had come when Yakumo Yukari had summoned all the factions together. The Yokai of the Mountain alongside the Yokai of the Underground. The Scarlet Mansion faction across from Eientai. Shrine Maidens alongside the Buddhists and Taoists. All of them gathered in one place when Yukari dropped the bombshell as it were on them.

It turned out that the issue was a series of events on the Outside. Somehow, a supernatural war had kicked off with beings from beneath the sea known as Abyssals attacking humanity. Due to that, humans started believing in the Supernatural once more. An effect of which was that the Barrier was weakening and, once it passed a certain point, would fall revealing Gensokyo to the world Outside.

Needless to say, to no one's surprise, the Shrine Maiden and the Magician asked who they needed to beat up.

However, Yukari had claimed that it was far too large for that to work. That it was global in nature... so there were two choices for them to do in order to make sure that Gensokyo survived. One, was to do something to shorten the war. Something that she stated was near impossible even for them. Or... create back channels and good will for when the Barrier fell.

Which was what she was working on.

For the first thing, they had helped the governments come up with a counter. Something that Patchouli, Alice, and Marisa worked on alongside the Priestesses and the gods of the Shrine on the Mountain. Somehow, they managed it and helped develop the process for the summoning of shipgirls. But... that lead to a new problem.

Mainly that no one on the Outside knew how to deal with people with powerful, supernatural abilities. And while people in Gensokyo did, they did know how to conduct a war. Even the Tengu, for the most part, had not done so in centuries. They needed someone with both knowledge of both sides to handle things and to help train others in the Outside.

Which is how she was now in command of the first shipgirl base. After all, she had studied and read over every form of warfare that she could. Yes, she lacked experience... but at least she was knowledgeable. Which lead to a month of being on the Outside and taught how to deal with the modern world. Something that she was proud of having managed.

Thus, straightening her uniform and placing her hat upon her head, Inubashiri Momiji smiled and walked out to her first day as an "Admiral" for the shipgirls...

Even after corroded by self-loathing and nihilism, some of the Arsenal in his Works, now forever corroded as Unlimited Blade Lost Works, some remains, amplified by his mental condition. And unsurprisingly, all that remains had been tool of pure, indiscriminate destruction.

But this one, this one....

Because of its Legend, this was tainted beyond norm, the symbol of utter destruction in pursue of power. What makes it terrifying is that the power is simply Destruction, and it didn't care or even recognize the intent, good or evil, it's simply destroy.

But against spiritual construct strongly associated with Japan, well....

Kaga isn't someone whom you call weak. Aside her martial ability, she had the courage and characters of a Yamato Nadeshiko, a strong fortress ready to defend her country, her Admiral. Her loved ones.

And yet, she can barely stand That Thing, which gave her both unrestrained dread and pure revulsion. And it wasn't used on her directly.

Yet.

Other ships... wasn't in better condition. Nagato had been unconscious, even as she tried to protect DesDiv 6 in her last moment, now clinging on her like some security blanket. The nature of That Thing is simply too much for her, considering her circumstances.

Others had been in various state of helplessness. Nobody can't raise arm against him.

The... Archer, the once betrayed Hero of Justice, betrayed then his Ideals and then, his Duty, in response, smirked. He found his target.

And with his shot, he called the name.

"Enola Gay."

Momiji's an interesting choice but really Tengu might be one of your better bets although hope Nitori's not in Akashi's shop with Yuubari... We don't want to know what's coming out of that madness

To be honest, part of it is that Momiji doesn't really appear that much. Another part is from memory, she smokes a pipe like an old time Admiral would, and it does seem like she is the closest that the Tengu have to someone familiar with the military as she patrols Yokai Mountain. Besides which... I also had the image of her teaching Tenryuu how to use a sword, looking off into the distance and seeing the shipgirls as they're fighting despite being hundreds of miles away, and so on.

And yes, Nitori being there with Akashi as well as Yuubari goes without saying... and perhaps certain characters from the PC 98 era as well.

But Chiyuri and Yumemi are from another dimension and the future as well! And I don't think they can just hand out miniature ICBMs like candy.

Sure this would be great for research and attempting to secure and reproduce the ritual and proving it worked in their dimension might have the Academy have them NOT be thought of as insane... well not completely insane.

Well, you could have Ruukoto helping out around the base...

But I meant imagine Rika, for example, helping out Nitori and the like.

Considering how important furniture is and luck is there is no one better suited to run the base than Mononobe no Futo!

With her manipulation of feng shui she can ensure the best layout of rooms, ensuring better luck and she's old style enough that even Yamato's going "She is incredibly refined"

Although she DID light Kiso on FIRE by dousing her on kerosene and producing a torch out of nowhere. Something about looking like a member of a "most hated rival" (Rumors that Boat Envy* is in part at play are nothing but that.)

Thankfully a repair bucket DID fix that problem. Room is still being repaired.

Still the RNG has been giving really good summons lately. So they're okay with the occasional accidental case of Arson. Any Rumors of the Admiral being a pyromaniac are to be assumed false. Unless she lights something expensive on fire.

Note: All shipgirls are to attend classes showing proper methods to extinguish fires both with and without rigging equipped. This is unrelated to the fire in the the Light Cruisers Dorm.

*That is to say envy over the size of one's boat.
