hmmm.
Ok Is X with us?
X knows at least those faces of the Pinus Sylvestris and was with us meeting that one at Rhode Island, which do have people Adam wants to turn into Apostles.
If he is, sent him and Ayam(because they can fly) to find and protect those guys Adam wants as Apostles, if able, just grab them and run to Rhode Island.
if not... Does Ayam know X? if yes, sent him out to find him and do the thing above, if not, let Abel talk to him and go find X together.

we on the other hand, must stay and stall, to keep Adam here and not touching Ayam.

so, a rematch between Sieg and The First...but with Adam giving out heals and might force a blessing on someone if not because his pride.

Can we knock Adam around? Like just ping pong him between us all that way we can bring him with us removing his threat of interfering and choosing apostles, as for the first, nail him to the ground or something n corp style to incapacitate him, after that drag Adam with you to tola and the second, the only one at risk of being chosen there is tola and there's 4 of you plus BS if you arrive there to deal with the distortion and tola if it comes down to it

I'm almost certain Jamie just fucking developed EGO. That mindset isn't a Distortion- he's rejected nothing. Instead, he's pulled his ideals even closer to himself, practically ablaze with the spirit of a knight. Tola, on the other hand, is who I'd reckon just distorted. In the most meaningful way, Jamie just took his beliefs and deconstructed them. Jamie ripped apart his worldview in one fell swoop, which is prime Distortion material.

I feel like when we get there we're going to have two- or even more- fish to fry at once. Jamie, who's more than likely developed EGO and is probably gonna take Adam's side, and Tola's Distortion. And we don't even know which one of these two is causing the huge fuckoff storm.

Hm, though the mention of Jamie's skin "tearing" and "twitching" makes me think Distortion; While there are some EGO that cause things to protrude from you, it's usually Abnormality derived Ego that seems to do it; the only two exceptions for self derived EGO I can think of are Spicebush, which looks like it's "growing" out of the user, and Nine Children of the Dragon, aka Xiao's EGO (albeit the name might not be the actual name for it, it's a fanname based off her passive), with the horns (though that might've only been because of her half realized state, for all I know the horns sprout out of the helmet alone when she fully realized it). Otherwise EGO seems to be a "layer" over the user, usually.

And I'm 99% confident Jamie's the one dragging the storm in, given the mention of wind stuff happening with him specifically.

Honestly him Distorting might be worse then EGOing out though, for reasons besides the obvious; as a certain TLA member showed, EGO isn't an instant power up if you don't know how to fight super well, but Distorting is because you're now half running on instincts plus a warped mindset.

Edit: Oh wait I forgor Capone's half EGO letting himself turn himself into flesh silly string. Hm... maybe Terran self EGO trends itself towards more body horror then City self EGO?

"He did it earlier then I thought..." says Adam. "The Black Silence was too slow. My Second rises. But for now… let's talk, Sieghart."
Y'know, I suppose we might as well see what this guy has to say. A lot is going on right now and we don't have a lot of time, but I think we can spare a few moments before heading to the Arena and trying to stop the Distortion/Egoist, whoever or whatever's calling the Catastrophe down on all our faces. Besides, we never did find out why he wanted to kidnap our cute Sarkaz medic, and that might provide a useful clue into his actual plans and/or motivations.

[X] Plan: Shedding Light
-[X] "What did you want with Hibiscus?"
-[X] Should Adam prove loquacious or unforthcoming, don't waste any time. Make your way to the center of the Arena and the Catastrophe causing Distortion as soon as possible, battling Adam and Andoain if they attempt to interfere
--[X] Sieghart managed to save one Distortion through a combination of intense violence, battle therapy, and his strange connection with the Light - with any luck, he can pull it off again.

It's hard to make a detailed battle plan when we don't really know what Adam is capable of, so I'm going to keep things vague for now and assume we'll get more detailed as more information is garnered.

Uh, the thread has been running a bit slowly recently. I really should have gotten this done on the weekend.

I think it's almost a case like Dongrang. Jamie was on the path to Distortion. He seemed to be slated to fall either before, or after, a fight with the Radiant Knight. But most importantly...the flag.

As much as Carmen is a butt monkey sometimes for "YOU SHOULD DISTORT YOURSELF NOW", that's not all she is. Like with Capone, and her thoughts on it, she's glad. He's expressing himself. He's not in pain anymore. He's taking a more difficult road, but it's the one he wants to take, and she respects that.

I don't think it can be adequately stated how important it is that Carmen reassured Jamie that the flag would hold up to Tola's superior weaponry. That it wouldn't break, that it wouldn't bend- That he would hold onto that flag throughout the fight, as the Flagbearer Knight, instead of the methodical cutting-off that she did with Capone, where she had him find what was close to him, what defined him, and had him remove it to allow room for the Eternal Persistence to emerge.

Jamie is holding onto his beliefs tightly. There's no way he would've distorted in this case. But, as his arts are wind-related, it could be that this is just a grand blaze of emotion currently. ...It's blind hope to say the storm might disperse on its own, and we should check it out at the bare minimum just to get some confirmation, but I can say with...almost certainty that Jamie didn't distort, given prior examples.

...Now that I think about it. If the possible apostles distort, how would Adam keep them under his control? I guess that when he advents he could control them, but he's far from that goal. It makes much more sense to make them gain EGO, they're still manipulable & gain a power boost.

Or did I forget something?

[X] Plan: Scrambled Eggs
-[X] Warn everyone of Andoian's Arts and Adam's invincibility.
-[X] You and Arabella are the fastest combatants here. Quickly get into melee with Andoian and disarm him, literally, before he can shoot too much, and try to steal his gun.
--[X] Use chains and spears of light and blood to immobilize Andoian once he's disarmed.
-[X] Ayam and Linette should focus on keeping Adam busy. He's invincible, but you just need them to keep Adam from interfering with your beatdown on Andoian.
-[X] Once Andoian is down, have the party retreat towards Abel. Arabella takes point with you at the rear, always keeping an eye out for Andoian's bullets.

It's time to scram. Adam wants us here, and whatever Adam wants is usually bad for us. Ergo, let's leave and regroup with Abel like he suggested.

Catastrophes are city wiping natural disasters, and we'll want to be in a shelter when it hits. The Librarians are at the arena so I'm sure they can handle Jamie and Tola.

While Abel wants us to run I don't think that's a great idea. Too many of our allies are in the area and many more are currently heading towards it. Also this is the best opportunity to stop the distortion via combat therapy or murder.

[X] Plan: Do we have time to talk?
- [X] Ask Adam if he will stand in our way
- [X] Try to immobilize Andoian
- [X] Make a break for the area at the earliest opportunity

This plan is pretty rough around the edges but it is what I think we should prioritize. Would like to hear how it could be improved.

There is a flaw in the scramble egg plan, that is we are not getting other Apostles candidates out of the city.
Everything else I agree with, but that is a deal breaker because I don't deal with any more brain washed super soliders that cannot die and probably can one shot us with good hit.
So we should probablyScatter and findAs much people that is apostles candidates as possible and get the hell out of there

Rhodes Island and X have been briefed on the situation, and the latter if I remember correctly, is keeping a particular eye out for the potential Apostles in Pinus Sylvestris. They have it well in hand I believe.

Let's put our trust in their competency and Abel's advice.

While I don't doubt their competency they are dealing with a distortion on top of a catastrophe. Not to mention that distortion could be a disciple, who knows what it is capable of. Leaving now could have consequences for our allies.

Consider that Adam came here to talk to and stall Sieg. We don't know why exactly, but playing into his hands is dangerous and I'd rather listen to Abel's advice.
If Adam wanted to talk to Sieg and keep him here, then would him leaving after Nicole screw him over? Like, he was anticipating his grand entrance, probably rehearsing his lines like a nerd, and then to find his designated rival didn't even show up? Oof.

I don't want to listen to Abel unless he's telling us to go to the Arena. While the Librarians can probably handle Jamie I don't want to leave it to chance and Sieg is the best man to deal with a Distortion no matter which approach we take.

The Catstrophe isn't something anyone can really deal with unless your name is Ling so it's essentially a non-factor for us. All we need to do is get to shelter and in a position to assist the others.

Besides, we're talking about Roland here with assistants all equipped with a bunch of top tier pages. They'll do fine, but in case they don't, Sieg won't be able to help them if he's stuck fighting Adam and Andoian.

Wait a second! What are the conditions for Adam to apostle someone? They had to be "worthy" but what does worthy mean?
If it's something along the line of "Wants to change the world" or something like that then maybe Linette it's in danger. Didn't someone also say that Linette didn't have Unity? For all we know she could be really vulnerable to whatever Adam could try.

Of course all this could be just me panicking about the whole situation we're in...

Since it looks like Jamie is responsible for it, there is a good chance we can stop the catastrophe before it hits if we take out Jamie first. Besides it would be really anticlimactic if the main character of the quest sits out the arc's climax.

I mean, we're not sitting it out? We're getting away from Adam so we can get a better idea of the situation, and then deploy where we're needed.

If that means dealing with Jamie, then that's where we'll go, but we can't do that if we're fighting Adam and Andoian.

I think it would be better to directly go to the Arena without delay as even one second could be critical here. Besides communicating with Sieg is probably easier and quicker than anyone else with Abel as the middleman.

[X] Plan: Arena Rush
-[X] Quickly disable an cripple Andoain so he can't stop or delay us more than he already has.
-[X] Tell Adam that if he wants to talk it'll be in the Arena.
-[X] After all that, rush to the Arena where you and your team would be most useful.
-[X] Have Abel keep you in contact with RI, If they need anything being in contact on the go is better than making a stop.

Sieg is experienced enough that I think no one would actually doubt his assessment even with limited info.

I mean, we're already going towards the Arena?

Here's what Abel said when he told Sieg to get 'here' ASAP.
"You need to get away." roars Abel. "The storm… it's moving, towards us. It's a Catastrophe! Forming right atop the city, somehow! The EGO he wields will make him nigh-impossible to touch. Harming him is futile now! You need to get here! That knight marked by Adam- he's been dealt an unquestionably fatal blow in the arena. You need to reach us!"
No point wasting words with Adam. If every second counts, then talking to him is pointless. Adam will follow Sieg if he wants to, but the important part is getting away from Adam.

Crippling Andoian isn't likely to delay him much since Plague Doctor heals are stronk. It's why I suggested stealing Andoian's gun and then tying him up so even if he is healed, it'll take him some time to break out, time we can use to put some distance between Sieg and Adam.

I'm just going to say that I'm very excited for how this stretch of the Arc develops. Oh yeah, it's all coming together.

Jamie was one of the things that changed the most through the course of the arc. I must have redesigned his character like... eight times by now.
