[ ] Interlude: The End of Ursus
"Who will pay for this? For the life I lost? For the tyranny, for the suffering, for my despair? All of you. All of you must pay. The snake- the army- the nation- every single one of you!"
[ ] Interlude: A Request of Protection
"The Witch King. The Witch King. In the name of the Witch King, their future was taken from them. And now… I will take back what is his. I will give him the world if it must be."
[ ] Interlude: The Instruments of Iron and Bone
"I see. So I was much like them- identical to my own victims. Nothing but a toy for their amusement… that's just… so funny. So damn funny…"
[ ] Interlude: Silence the Chorus
"The mouthpiece is silent, the locks are shattered, the blood diamond has lost its luster. And soon, I will be more than just an actor on a stage."
Uh. That's more choices then I expected. Someone's been busy.
Assuming that Carmen still gave up on Crowntaker ...
End of Ursus: Koshelna
Koshelna. Carmen had been paying special attention to her, after giving up on Crowntaker and Big Sad Lock retreated into himself.
Sticks out as the most wrathful of the bunch, her revenge isn't aimed only at the Black Snake, but also the Nation itself, which includes it's army and most likely it's citizens. Expect lots of innocents as collateral.
Also it doesn't kill the Snake, just ejects him from Koshelna, so expect him to come after Carmen and by extension us.
A Request for Protection: Kreide
A lot of people in Lingering Echoes would fit, but the thing that sticks out is the wording of "
And now… I will take back what is his. I will give him the world if it must be." A declaration for the sake of a certain person. This isn't done mainly for revenge, but for someone's else's sake.
With this knowledge, the most likely candidate is Kreide. He already holds a fragment of the Witch King and ultimately sacrificed himself to save Ebenholz. Alternately it's Czerny who also tried to sacrifice himself to end the Witch King, but he tried to save both Ebenholz and Kreide, not just an individual.
The Instruments of Iron and Bone: Jesselton Miller
This one is more obscure, but based on who we know it's possibly Jesselton Miller.
The Iron and Bone refer to his ferromagnetic arts which he uses to shore up his skin with metal and manipulate his body, forming metal blades from his arms and launching iron shards as projectiles.
The Instruments part can point to his past occupation as a hitman, his current status as a Truman Show subject, and his general manipulative streak. He is fond of manipulating others into situations where they are forced to abandon their ideals and establish control over them, only now he is being control in a psychological fashion just like his own victims, reducing him to a mere "tool." Reminds me a bit of Yan.
Of note, as the subject is currently part of a popular reality TV show, it is possible his Distortion is televised to the public. And I'm not sure having the public be aware of them is a good idea.
Silence the Chorus: The Whiteflower
Mouthpiece is dead, Lock is broken (possibly catatonic to escape Carmen?), Phantom escaped (probably).
The wording of being an actor means it's not the Playwright, and the words "Silence the Chorus" implies a musical theme...
Among the Troupe are several singers, but a particular one, "Whiteflower," was notorious for her ability to cause strife and her manipulative ways. One of the teachers of Phantom and was canonically killed during his escape.
Alternatively it is Big Sad Lock and the broken locks means he broke free from his restraints.
The implication of becoming more than a mere actor means either become an audience member or being a writer/director, someone with a theme of knowledge and control. And there's a whole troupe of assassins right there for the taking. Well, unless Playwright and the Troupe Master says otherwise.
Dunno if all of them are distorted or we're choosing which one is...
So between all of them we have:
Someone on a revenge quest against a Fascist Bodyjacker and a whole nation, including unarmed citizens. Also would tip off said Bodyjacker to the Light, Carmen, and by extension ourselves.
Someone who is also fighting against a Bodyjacker obsessed with classical music. Is also a pretty swell guy who does not deserve this.
Truman Show victim going postal, follows the Way of the Typewriter. Transformation publicly televised.
Deranged murderer becomes more deranged. Might be a control freak with access to a group of assassins. Tip off Distortions to Playwright and the Wine God.
So at least three immortal entities and an entire nation can become aware of Distortions. Thanks Carmen.
[X] Interlude: The Instruments of Iron and Bone
I don't think we're really equipped to fight gods and immaterial bodyjackers.
I mean Abel could possibly do something, but he's a lot weaker than Carmen, has the combat skills of a wet noodle and the social skills of a cactus.
