Iron Dragon vs. The World! (Pacific Rim/Godzilla Parody Quest)

That's now two people agreeing with me on the shield plates.

Anyways, I agree with Portec's plan, with the obvious requirement of changing Mark .74' repairs with something else.
*snip*
Bolded the change I made. ups the resource price from 7200 to 7500, so we'll be a tad strapped for metaphorical cash but maybe we'll see if we can stockpile resources these next few rounds.

As for where to go with our Jaegers? Kiryu in movie was a capable combatant at all ranges. Now that any missile packs we get for him will actually be WORTH SOMETHING he'll be even more terrifying. However if we focus on his ranged stat completely he'll start getting screwed over if bigger Kaiju (coughCat Vcough) rush him down.

Yukon's getting by so far with a pretty low speed. Hell, it's only recently that we were able to get him to start actually RUNNING. So... Mighty Glacier build for him? (not very fast but hell of a good defense with decent offensive stats so he doesn't just kinda sit there?) We can compensate for this in our formations by dropping Brawler Yukon off closer to the fight so that our Jaegers meet the enemy at approximately the same time.

Hagane meanwhile, since we've already poured all of his abilities into Melee on creation, should stay that way because we're already so heavily invested as Portec said. But while Yukon is slugging it out with Kaiju, Hagane should/will be dashing around, latching on to priority targets of opportunity via Grappling. This allows our Bio-Jaeger to also be Melee centric while also still being relevant, as he can serve as a single target Crowd Control machine. Kaiju that are grappling with him can't easily engage in combat with other jaegers. Further more he can peel Kaiju off any Jaeger that get's critically damaged with that same grappling ability, potentially saving the mech and its pilots' lives.

In short:

Kiryu: Jack of all Stats, Master of None

Brawler Yukon: Melee Tank with maybe splash of Range

Hagane Arashi: Melee Disabler via Grapple (As explained above could save lives and pin down priority targets, especially if he uses a point to Expose his target to a barrage from friendlies)

Melee Tank build. Completly forgotten that option.

First order is bringing all of our jeager to Thougness 3. They need to be able to handle a few blows.
Hagane is fast but Rocket Booster would be a nice addition. Improvements go into HtH and Strength. Dexterity should be increased to 2 or 3 as well.
Yukon would do with an overhaul of its ranged weapons. With Ranged 1 The Rocket Tubes still have d10-1. A ranged weapon that would get bonus out of something else than Range would be nice. Focus on HtH, Strength (For Carparence Armor or similar) and Dexterity to for hopefull ability to block attacks (ranged and close) with shields.

What the hell does Dex do anyway? I've looked throughout the combat rules posted during Cherno and all I can find is that it modifies damage done by thrown range weapons.

Is that seriously it? If so, we can probably ignore it for now.

Also would still like a chest cannon for Higane at some point. As I've stated before I believe the Murder Glomp is the right of all semi-biological Jeager.

Murder Glomp is a good idea. We can invest into researching something suitable at a later date. Increasing resources and jeager stats is more important at the moment as far as I see it.

You are right that Dex does not really do anything if you read through the rules. Our GM has been notiefied of this and brewed together some additional uses.
Hand to Hand: Used in all close combat situations (attack, block, parry, start grapple, avoid grapple) except dodge and ongoing grapple.
Ranged: Bonus to attack dice with ranged. May give bonus to damage with ranged weapons as well (decided by weapon).
Strength: Bonus to ongoing grapple dice. Bonus to damage in close combat when specified by attack.
Toughness: I don't know. Indirectly compiles to make Durability and Structure.
Agility: 3+ This = Movement speed. Bonus to dice while dodging.
Dexterity: Bonus to dice for throwing stuff, manipulating things, holding items, anything that requires fine hand movement. Sometimes also used in grapples.
There are as well requirements for equipment. The Carparence Hull need Str3 or the Underwater Pistol need Dex2 to be used.
Than it is used for scanning actions (which we have never used exept passive to find kaju while underwater).
Dexterity can be seen as a stat that is used when all other seem inappropriate.

Is this correct @Fyrstorm ?
And some other stuff:
  1. In the jeager doc is missing how many points Hagane can have before the need of a new reactor comes up. I am afraid it is 12.
  2. You have stated that should Yukon get over 12 it will get automatically Kiryus old reactor to reach a max of 15. That is still correct?
  3. In the Jeager Doc '74 has still 4 Strikes.
  4. And would it be posible to develop this?
Equip-able Item (Each deployment, choose whether Back-Unit is Equipped or not. All information is for when the device is equipped)

    Stats (added to the User's)
    Hand-to-Hand: 0
    Ranged: 1/3

    Toughness: 2
    Agility: 0 (see Abilities)
    Dexterity: 3

    Durability: 2
    Structure: 4

    Abilities:
-Dedicated Scanner Array: While attached, can be activated/deactivated as a Minor Action. While Active, treat total Dexterity as Doubled for the purpose of Scan Checks. Scans may reveal specific aspects of targets upon High Successes.
-Heavy Stabilizer: +2 Ranged while stabilizer is deployed (see Ranged stat, second values). May deploy stabilizer as minor action and retract them as major action. Can not move while stabilizer is deployed.

    Weapons:

-Type-O-10 Artillery Battery (Shamelessly stolen from Starcraft)
    Built-In Ranged Weapons
    Scatter Weapon

    Attack Dice: 4d10/8d10-1/12d10-2/16d10-3/20d10-4/24d10-5

Sixty Shots Only. Does Not Cauterise Wounds. Nat1 Consume 1d3 Additional Shoots. Nat10 Create 2 Throws On Hit Locations Instead. Minimum Range Is 10 Units. Damage To Locations Is Added Before Armor.

    Armour:

    Raw Iron Body Plating
    Armour Value: 4
Coverage: All (Treat as layered on User Coverage)
    Durability: 8

    Back Unit Hit-Locations: Braces (L & R), Central Pods (L & R), Jointing, Spinal Lock, Bodies (L & R), Nacelles (L & R) (1d10)
    User Coverage: Spine, Shoulders (L & R)
A risky weapon. The -3 dmg caps the maximum dmg per dice at 7 while the average would be 3. Far to low to get through any armor. Only by hitting the same location serveral time it would get through. That is the reason why the maximum number of throwable dice is so high.

Interesting note: Higane seems to get stat upgrades as if they were one rank lower than a standard Jeager. I wonder if that holds true for other Bio-jeagers.

The speed of stat improvements is tied to the high of the state.
  1. 0 to 1 cost 5
  2. 10
  3. 15
  4. 20
  5. 25
  6. 30
What mark a jeager (or which category a kaiju) is is tied to the sum of stat points.
  1. Cat1 Jeager up to 10 points
  2. Cat2 Jeager up to 15 points
  3. 20
  4. 25
  5. 30
Doing the math '74 has 21 stat points and is a Cat4 Jeager.

That is completely perpendular to what I was saying. Hagane's Upgrades in each stat are the equivalent to one rank lower than what a normal Jeager would have at that rank.

Example:
Kiryu Hand to Hand: 3. To get that to 4 requires 20 upgrades.
Hagane Hand to Hand: 4. To get that to 5 requires 20 upgrades.

And this is consistant with all of Hagane's stats. 0 need 5 instead of 10.

What I am wondering is if this holds true for any other Bio-Jeager we might make or if it is something unique to Hagane.

I can not follow the majority of your vote.

This need doing. Reduction of cost would be nice too.
At the moment we just don't have the resources to play with the idea.
Before we start building our fith jeager can we bring our existing up to date? We have the blueprints to improve them to Mark 4.
And to reduce time and cost for upgrading our jeager we should look into blueprints for Mark 2, 3 and 4 jeager.
Having the KBCS the moment we find a suitable donor is everything we need.
[X] Research: KBCS upgrade
-[X] Let's see about keeping a Kaiju stored in it alive but not moving.
This is largly unessecary. Our problem with Quillback was that we could not build the KBCS (because it could not fit a Cat3).
There is no need to keep the kaiju alive to build a bio-jeager.

[X] Improve Yukon: Toughness 15d10 (-300 Resources)

[X] Improve Yukon: Toughness 15d10 (-300 Resources)
Lets do some math. To improve Yukons Toughness from 2 to 3 we need 15 upgrade points. By using 30 dice with a 3 in 10 chance each to generate a single upgrade point we can get in average 9 points out of that. Not enough.
[X] Improve Kiryu: Ranged 15d10 (-300 Resources)
-[X] I have a dream of Kiryu casually burning out the eyes of Kaiju whenever it damn well pleases!

[X] Improve Kiryu: Ranged 15d10 (-300 Resources)
Upgrading Kiryus Ranged is kind of pointless as well. It has 5, its ranged weapon hits on 5 and get +2.
Kiryu add per ranged attack 7 to the thrown dice.
The lowest possible throw is 2 (because 1 will always miss).
2+7 = 9 - 3 (called shoot) is 6.
Kiryu can already shoot out its opponent eyes. We just have never done so or forgotten to call shoots.

[X] Improve Kiryu: HtH 15d10 (-300 Resources)
It will be long and frustrating to use only 15 dice.
To get Kiryu from 3 to 4 it need 20 points. 4 action with 15 dice at once will do this in one turn. Why stretch it over multiple turns?
[X] Build 2x Anti-Kaiju Soryu-class Attack Submarine (-3000 resources)
-[X] Need to avoid getting caught unprepared down there
1. Basically yes but the subs should be reworked some more before going in production.
2. To expansive. The superhavy units are glass cannons.
3. I would prefer the destroyer because they can be used on the shore as well.
[X] Research: Cyber Eye
-[X] Hagane needs a new eye. Might as well start working.
-[X] See if we can squeeze a laser targeting system in there, as we have mounted on the scout choppers
The most solid eyes are facet eyes. They are extremly crappy alone and are used in groups. Spiders use serveral groups to archive 360° vision. Going for broke and developing something extreme can net us more.
With the developed healing goo it should be possible to grow it a new one as a repair action or during one (should it become damaged).

That is completely perpendular to what I was saying. Hagane's Upgrades in each stat are the equivalent to one rank lower than what a normal Jeager would have at that rank.

That seems to be inconsistend.
Hand-to-Hand: 4 (Upgrade 0/20)
Ranged: 0 (Upgrade 0/5)
Strength: 3 (Upgrade 0/15)
Toughness: 1 (Upgrade 0/10)
Agility: 3 (Upgrade 0/15)
Dexterity: 0 (Upgrade 0/5)
Ranged, Toughness and Dexterity are normal.
You should look at Kiryu. Its Toughness needs 15 points for 3. Just as much as Yukon need, althrough Kiryu is Mark3 while Yukon is Mark1.
I see it as a copy & past error.

@Portec actually, we do need the Kaiju to be alive if we want a Bio-Jeager. Relevant question and QM response.
Actually, question, would the Bio-Jeagers be more Eva-like in nature or more like Kiryu?

Eg, is the Kaiju going to be mostly/fully alive under the metal?
More like an Evangelion, but without AT Field Shenanigans, or the souls of the pilots' parents. But yeah. Quillback would still be alive.

We need the Kaiju to survive the ice dunk.

You have invested no action in producing T-F armour. The second part need to be its own action.
All right.
Can we please first save the ones we have found?
Wait, we found some human communites outside Tokyo? When?
This need doing. Reduction of cost would be nice too.

Come to think of it, researching a better reactor for Quillback would be good- oh wait, we're doing that anyway.
This is largly unessecary. Our problem with Quillback was that we could not build the KBCS (because it could not fit a Cat3).
There is no need to keep the kaiju alive to build a bio-jeager.
I'd like GM confirmation on this. Do we need teh Kaiju to be alive, and would keeping it alive during the process help?
1. Basically yes but the subs should be reworked some more before going in production.
Right now, the underwater realm is the only one where our Jaegers cannot count on fire support. We urgently need to patch this weakness up. A Kaiju could come from the deep next week and we'd be caught with nothing.

Are you suggesting we develop compound eyes? That could actually be a pretty neat idea.
Remind me, did we get that regenerative bio-armour up and running?

@Portec actually, we do need the Kaiju to be alive if we want a Bio-Jeager. Relevant question and QM response.

We need the Kaiju to survive the ice dunk.
The KBCS is developed to store a kaiju for later convertation into a bio-jeager.
Here the relevant post:
DNA Computer Mark 2.0
Cost: 15 000 Resources
Allows the creation of Bio-Jaegers
-20 000 from the cost of any Jaeger Frame (with suitable Donor) (Don't have to buy Weapons)

Meanwhile, the problem of kaiju decay is discussed, and it's decided that freezing the kaiju is a viable option, which also makes them more usable for Bio-Jaeger creation. After examination of Kiryu's unique Absolute Zero Cannon, a device is created that can preserve a kaiju of up to Category II for several years.
New Item:
KBCS Mark 1.0

Kaiju Will Not decay, but you don't gain any resources from the Kaiju.

That is true. But true is as well that we can not do everything we want.
Yes the subs will be build but this turn I can not support it.
Are you suggesting we develop compound eyes? That could actually be a pretty neat idea.
Remind me, did we get that regenerative bio-armour up and running?
No we have not. It was a side effect of researching kaiju healing. The developed goo is used in repairs of Hagane and will perform in game terms just like any other normal repair.

The DNA Computer isn't relevant, and Fyr has stated that they need to be live.

I asked if the Jeager needed a dead body or a living one, Kiryu or Eva. He said Eva.

Also if we do mess around with turning corpses into Jeagers we might get slammed with a curse for disturbing the bones of the dead, like Toho!Japan did when they made Kiryu.

You have read the second part right?
The DNA Computer is needed to build a bio-jeager.
The KBCS is used to stop a dead kaiju from decaying so it can be later used as a suitable donor.
After installing the reactor and powering it up the energy, in some twisted kaiju lifecircle way, will 'reanimate' the dead body. Kaijus are strange like that.

That doesn't state that the corpses are suitable. It just said that, the fridge was made with the idea of allowing us to make Bio-Jeagers. It never said that it would work without upgrading the facility.

So it is absolutly useless?
What can it be used for if not for the creation of bio-jeagers? If that is not possible we can only put a kaiju in and point at it saying "Look at that kill".
I do sound sarcastic and I am but please humor me and tell me what else the KBCS can be used for that I have not jet mentioned.

It could also be used to restrain living ones in theory.

As far as I'm aware the AZC has always been fatal when used.

Edit: Then again, the AZC is supposed to freeze something to the point where it will literally crumble to pieces (Godzilla survived it because firing it in water is actually a VERY BAD IDEA)

How alive is a kaiju after getting hit with AZC? Because that is the KBCS. It hits what is inside constantly with something similar to the AZC to keep it from decaying. It is its main function.
It's based off of the tech in the AZC. It isn't firing an AZC at the thing and hoping for the best/admiring the new statue. Or right now, it might be.

Sending someone into a "cold coma" is something normal doctors can do but it isn't used frequently and is a delicate and expensive procedure. It also proves that it can be done to warm blooded animals.

Cold blooded animals become sluggish and lethargic in refrigeration. To a much larger degree than warm bloods.

So if a Kaiju is either cold or warm blooded (more than likely warm blooded based on where they appear) we can take a living one, and in theory put it on ice, and later revive it, and it's been alive the entire time.

Question for @Fyrstorm. How big is the baby Kaiju and how accustomed is it to being around humans?
About the size of a tank. Panzer is very accustomed, as it hatched among humans.

Dexterity can be seen as a stat that is used when all other seem inappropriate.

Is this correct @Fyrstorm ?
And some other stuff:

Dexterity thing? That's roughly correct.
1. 12 is when it turns into a mark 2. 15 is when you need to get it a Mark III Reactor.
2. Yes. Though that's really more of fluff.
3. Fixed.
4. If you research it, possibly.
That would be a good idea. @Fyrstorm is this legid or do you speak veto?
You can research anything.
