Nobody cares about checking up on them to make sure their alright. That's not even what the options about in the first place. It's about initiating contact with one of the most powerful magic organizations on the planet. So we can potentially learn their magic as well.

Sure we could go for the short term low level power up that 'Assist in the clean-up' could bring. But the long term potential of the wizards vastly outweighs it. And since every plan that even has a chance is incorporating 'Salvage Battle Zones' we are getting stronger regardless.

I know that we could get a massive boost for unlocking our Magic Skill Tree but we currently specialize in integrating alien technology into ours. I agree that establishing contact with them will prove beneficial in countering future threats, but we aren't exactly a diplomatic person. We can just throw this crazy wrench at Fury in hopes that he handles the mages,

Relying on Fury to contact an organization older than pretty much every country. While also not letting hydra find out about them will be fairly implausible.

The biggest problem with not doing it now, is that the next chance to stumble upon them might not be for a long time. And its not like we can meta game it and just arbitraily decide to visit India for them.

And if Strange(literaly zero peoples skills) of all people can convince them. Then a travaling magic tech weirdo can aswell.

Okay, looks like the vote situation hasn't changed much so lets lock it down.
The winning plan is:

[X] Plan: Techno-Wizard Beginnings
-[X] Power Testing
-[X] Salvage Battle Zones
-[X] Orange Lights
-[X] Honour the Fallen

I'll start writing the results tonight and hopefully post it either tomorrow or the day after.

Stark Tower 1 Results
Power Testing

Auto Pass.

Metal floated in the air. Fragments of circuitry surrounded you.

With a gesture, parts glowed copper and formed into five distinct shapes. Four around you, one already in your hand.

Five.

Five pieces of equipment.

The type didn't matter. Neither did the size, or the complexity.

You had built tiny computers, wrist mounted shield generators, and a variety of weapons mundane and magical. It didn't matter. The moment you stopped feeding your power into them, they would fall apart.

Except for this.

You examined the metal sphere. A tiny thing, the size of a tennis ball.

It was a drone, rudimentary, packed with only a camera and a taser. Nothing special about it.

Except that it had lasted for a week.

Weeks of experimentation and most of your reserves made this.

The amount of energy it took to keep active was a fraction of a fraction. So low that you could keep it active even while sleeping.

A piece of equipment that could exist beyond your immediate vicinity.

Permanent.

Or as least as close to it as you could get.

Stark was right. Your power had limits. Enforced Restrictions. But with enough time and effort, they could be broken.

Or restructured.

The sphere fell apart in your hands and you smiled.

Because in your mind, you felt a slot returning, one so much stronger than the other four.

You had grown stronger since the invasion. The you from a few weeks ago could never have done this.

Through time and training your senses had refined and your current limits had been made clear.

There was still much you didn't know.

But that was okay.

It had taken weeks of experimentation. But now, you knew enough to get started.

Rewards: +10 to Salvage Rolls. Current Build Limit Discovered (5 items, 1 permanent). Build, Upgrade and Train Actions unlocked. Note: Any blueprint requirement on Earth Based Materials is currently free due to location.

Salvage Battle Zones

Roll Needed
: 50/75/95

Rolled: 81 + 10 = 91

It had taken a few days of dodging patrols of Damage Control and what you were pretty sure was SHIELD (the guns they were carrying were big enough that you didn't want to get close enough to find out) before you found something.

And boy did you find something.

Three chariots, all in perfect condition. Minus the complete systems wipe that obliterated its Operating System after Stark blew up the big ship.

You couldn't fly them, but you didn't really want to. The parts that made them were worth more to you anyway.

It took a few hours, one of Stark's cars and a costume change that may have included a clip board and a hard hat but eventually you were able to bring them all back to Stark Tower and scrap them for parts.

Really, really good parts.

Rewards: 8 Chitauri Materials, 3 Chitauri Crystals, 1 Super-Heavy Armour Fragment added to inventory

Orange Lights

Roll Needed: 40

Rolled: 29

"Where the hell is this place?"

You had started by trying to find the street that you had first seen the orange light from when you were fighting the Chitauri.

You knew this wasn't going to be easy when it took you two hours to find said street.

That most of the landmarks you remembered were currently rubble didn't help.

Days of searching later, you had combed through every street in the surrounding area and knocked off a lot of potential places but still hadn't found it yet.

Frankly, you just didn't have a lot to go on.

All you could really remember was that the building had an oldish style architecture.

And how many of those could there be in Manhattan?

You put another red cross down on the map in your hands.

You were close. There were only so many places it could be and you had already knocked most of them off.

But you'd searched enough there was other things you needed to do.

Maybe next time.

Rewards: Action Failed. Orange Lights DC Reduced by 20

Honour the Fallen

Auto Pass.

"I thought I'd find you here."

You didn't respond, instead you continued to stare at the plaque hanging off the wall. Samuel Davies face stared back at you. One among many.

Many places like this had sprung up around Manhattan. But only one was in this room.

You gestured to the memorial. "Did you know him?"

"A bit." Stark said. Following your gaze, his voice turned sombre. "He was driven. Obsessed really." He chuckled. "And that's saying a lot coming from me. First one in, last one out. Always working on his pet projects."

"Like what?"

"Agriculture." What? "He was working on a formula to reduce soil erosion in drier regions."

"I expected something more… flashy." The way he acted during the tour, you thought he worked on robotics or energy research. Something that would get him on the cover of magazines.

"I know what you mean, but no. Davies didn't join Stark Industries until after we got out of the weapons business." Stark laughed. "He had the balls to request that he would never be put on a team involving weapons research into his contract."

"Honestly, I thought he was a bit of a tool." You admitted.

"He was," Stark agreed. "He was full of himself and got on a lot of peoples nerves. But he didn't deserve to die."

None of them did.

A flash of light and glass shattering as skin and bone were obliterated into meaty chunks. You repressed the urge to shiver.

You reached into your pocket and pulled out the key card. You stared at it for a long time before you spoke again. "It all started here for me. Not in that basement, not out on the street. Right here." Where the Chitauri cut down everyone in their path without pity, without hesitation. The only reason you're alive is because you saw them coming a second earlier. "If I hadn't been in this room then I never would've gone out there."

You probably also wouldn't have powers, but that's neither here or there.

"I went out there to make the Chitauri pay for what they did. And to pay the debt I owed to everyone in this room. I did both." You turned to Stark.

"So why doesn't it feel like it's over?"

Stark met your gaze head on. "Because its not." He said. "An alien invasion came and we held it back. We only won because even while mind-controlled, Erik Selvig was smart enough to build a failsafe."

You closed your eyes. "You're not making me feel better here."

"I'm not trying to, I'm trying to make you understand."

"Understand what?" You snapped. "That it was all for nothing?"

"No. That this world, this big blue one, is vulnerable. It needs the Avengers. We won this one, but we might not win the next one."

"You'll think they'll be a next one?"

"I know there will be." Stark said. "You didn't see through that portal, what came through was only a fraction of what the Chitauri had. If they had been able to send it all through, we would've been toast."

"You're afraid?"

Stark didn't answer. "I want the world to be safe. And right now, the best bet, our only bet, is the Avengers." Resolve coated Stark, but through it you could see the baggy eyes, and the manic energy that coated every movement.

Whatever problems you had; Stark clearly had it worse. You let out a long breath. "What do you want Tony?"

"I want you to know that this," he gestured the memorial that took up most of the wall. "Isn't your fault."

"I know that. I'm not sorry to be alive." You avenged them because you owed them. Sam most of all. Him you would owe for the rest of your life. For the others, there was nothing left to say. "But I am sorry that they had to die in the first place. I swore that I would kill every Chitauri that I could get my hands on. And I have. But now you're telling me there's more out there."

You stepped forward. A burst of energy fused Sam's card into the frame.

"I guess that means I still have a debt to pay." You turned to Stark. "You said the Avengers were the only chance. Maybe we should do something about that."

Stark grinned. "Let me tell you about the Iron Legion…"

Rewards: Burgeoning Trauma reduced. Improved Reputation with Tony Stark.

Alright here's your results. Lucky in some parts, not so lucky in others. Armoury will be added to informational tonight and I'll hopefully post turn 2 tomorrow morning.

I'm really curious what Stark can make with our help. While our tech is ours alone, we should be able to work as an excellent sounding board and tester with our intuitive understanding of technology, not to mention that we could create devices to create parts/materials/etc that he can't.

8 Chitauri Materials, 3 Chitauri Crystals, 1 Super-Heavy Armour Fragment
The supply of salvagable Chitauri wreckage will be limited, SHIELD/Damage Control will remove it all eventually.

Better to focus on researching what we found with Stark.
Either recreate the Chitauri materials, or create new materials based on them.

On that note, can our power disassemble materials into their base components?
It would certainly speed up materials research.
A piece of equipment that could exist beyond your immediate vicinity.
What's the range limit?
Or have we not tested that yet?

For your first set of questions i'd say its more likely that you'll be able to re-create the Chitauri materials as creating new materials is an endgame skill that I've tied to the plot in my notes somewhere.

Your range limit is basically the Manhattan area. So enough to walk around the city, but if you want to leave you'll have to take any equipment with you. Otherwise it will fall apart.

Stark Tower 2
You let out a yawn as you sat down on the couch, the TV screen that takes up most of the wall turning on as you did.

"Good morning," the news anchor began as you took a bite out of your cereal. "Today's top story: a series of bizarre jewellery heists."

A mixture of Chitauri and regular parts circle around you, forming into the beginning of a blueprint before you pull it apart.

"Police are investigating the armed robbery of three high end jewellery stores in the Manhattan area late last night. Current estimates put the combined value of stolen items at $300,000 plus several thousand more in damages. Police have linked the robberies together due to similar damage found at all three crime scenes. This footage was recovered."

A grainy video then played showing two masked figures smashing glass displays with a hammer before heading towards a safe behind the counter. Your eyes widened as one of them held up a rifle, a very familiar rifle that fired a burst of equally familiar blue energy and blew up the door.

A clenched fist and the screen froze and rewound. The picture lightened and cleared, not much – the video was too low quality for anything better – but enough to be sure. A Chitauri gun. One that worked.

You released your powers grasp and slumped into the couch. This was something you could investigate. It was right in your area of expertise. Hell, this might even by your fault. That gun could be one of the many that you used and discarded during the invasion. They may not have had much power, but they would've worked and any competent engineer could open the casing and replace the power crystal.

But you wouldn't know for sure until you checked it out.

"Police are asking that anyone with pertinent information to please contact their tip line. In other news," The anchor continued, "high schools are buzzing as a new fitness challenge is introduced, and it's a much more… heroic then they're expecting."

"Hi, I'm Captain America. Whether you're in the classroom or on the battlefield…"

No way…

"Physical fitness can mean the difference between success, and failure…"

The robbers can wait a minute. "Tony!"

[] Assist in the clean-up
New York has suffered a lot of damage, enough that any pair of hands would be welcomed. Suit up and go assist with the clean-up, and grab some sweet Chitauri loot. Though it's unlikely you'll be able to acquire much with government groups watching the area with a fine-toothed comb.
Chance of Success: 100%/10%
Cost: 1 Action
Rewards: Good feelings. Guaranteed low-level loot, very small chance of finding something better.

[] Salvage Battle Zones
Hunt down Chitauri battle sites that the government hasn't started to clean up yet. Parts will be much harder to find, but what you do find will likely be far more useful.
Chance of Success: 50%/25%/5%
Cost: 1 Action
Rewards: Variable.

Exploration

[] Orange Lights

You distinctly remember seeing someone else fight the Chitauri. Someone who used a technique or piece of tech that you'd never seen before. Now that the city was no longer under attack, you'd like to meet them… if you can remember what house it was. You're pretty sure you'll find it this time.
Chance of Success: 80%
Cost: 1 Action
Rewards: ????

[] Jewellery Robberies
The robbers used a Chitauri gun, one that they were able to get working. It could've been one of yours or not. Frankly, it didn't matter. Regular police couldn't handle that kind of firepower. But you could.
Chance of Success: 60%
Cost: 1 Action
Rewards: Intelligence of robbers. Basic knowledge of other potential Chitauri artifacts.

Alright. Again, hopefully I've given you a good balance of several actions here.

Also I've (finally) put up the rules and armoury. Armoury has a list of stuff you can currently craft, assuming you have the materials for it. The materials you do have is listed in your character sheet.
Note also that due to your location, any Earth Material costs are currently free!

Also if you have an idea for a piece of equipment to add to the armoury feel free to post or pm but please follow the layout I've put in rules.

Now if ya'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play Horizon: Zero Dawn.

As always, there is a 2-hour MORATORIUM on Votes. DO NOT VOTE FOR 2 HOURS!

Also only votes in a plan will be counted. PLEASE VOTE IN A PLAN (when its open)

I'll be checking the thread. Feel free to discuss!

[] Provisional plan: unearthing
-[] salvage battle zones
-[] orange lights
-[] jewellery robberies
-[] captain america fitness challenge

Like I said this is provisional, and is subject to change and implementation when votes open.

[] Provisional plan: Time sensitive
-[] Assist in the clean-up
-[] Jewellery Robberies
-[] Hang Out Bruce Banner
-[] Train

Banner will head out soon. Also whatever PR bump we'd get from helping from cleaning up will play out soon. Also looking for the robbers? Might net us tech and cement us as a hero. I mean the fight was the first time stepping out. Be nice to show we aren't a one hit wonder.

Just letting everyone know that i've changed armour weapony and support to that they don't use and equipment slot until they're equipped to armour. As the way it was before you wouldn't actually be able to craft one after crafting armour.

My bad.

Power sources still don't use an equipment slot.

If we investigated the Jewel Thieves, how would we even find them?
any competent engineer could open the casing and replace the power crystal.
A possible solution.
IIRC, SHIELD brought in Bruce Banner to find the Tesseract, due to his expertise in radiation.
A Chitauri Power Crystal might emit detectable radiation.

Ask Bruce for help building a "Chitauri Crystal Radiation Sensor", we could use that to track the Jewel Thieves.
It should help us find useful Chitauri salvage as well (assuming all Chitauri tech has similar power sources).

We already have 3 Chitauri Crystals to experiment with.

Thoughts?

@K1ng could the below be merged into 1 action?
[] Hang Out
-[] Bruce Banner
[] Build Equipment
-[] Chitauri Crystal Radiation Sensor
Something like:
[] Build Equipment
-[] Chitauri Crystal Radiation Sensor
-[] Ask Bruce for help

You can add a write in to the hang with Bruce action -
eg
Bruce
-[] write in: ask for help in designing Chitauri sensor

if you really want to. But i'd say its unnecessary. You can already passively sense Chitauri equipment. if you go for it it'll give you say a +10 to your roll at the cost of one of your crystals. If you think that's a fair trade then go ahead.

Though with this, next turn onwards I might add an optional write in for Hang Out if you want to do a specific social action with that character (within reason and subject to veto obviously)
