n we do something to prevent voters who might not know about plans from the other website from getting salty that the supposedly most supported plan losing? Like a secondary moratorium to show the proposed plans from SV and SB.

I guess I could post a current vote count on both forums before I go to sleep tonight. That should give people awake enough time to argue their plan (if they want to.)
Can we give that phone number to Stark?
I think it'd take Jarvis only a few seconds to ID the number, and possibly start monitoring calls or tracking it as well.

@K1ng
1) Is there an option for an Armoured Undersuit, that can be worn underneath/as clothing?
2) What happens to temporary equipment, when we stop using it? Does it disintegrate, disassemble, or something else?

1. A good enough one that actually offers protection is a bit beyond you at the moment.
2. Temporary equipment disassembles the moment you stop feeding power into it.

SB is currently pretty far ahead so if anyone wants to pop over to the other forum to argue why their specific plan is better they should do so, as unless the votes are really close, i'll probably close them after I wake up.

Incidentally, my salvage plan was originally aimed at getting enough low grade chitauri scrap to make a chitauri medium armor. The Vanguard medium isn't bad either though.

Maybe it's about the voting imbalance?

This quest is pretty neat and all, but it feels like the SB thread is the one calling all the shots, and SV thread doesn't get a say.

Stark Tower 3 Results
[] Build Equipment
-[] Mark 1 Vanguard Class Medium Armour.

Auto Pass.

Servos and motors whirred as silver plate gleamed. Energy crackled as lines of power came to life.

This armour was nothing like your previous efforts. Stronger, durable, and so much more efficient. You could give Iron Man a run for his money in this suit.

Maybe you could ask Tony to go a few rounds sometime.

But that was for later. Right now you were going to do what every twenty something would do when they got their hands on a brand new over-tuned piece of hardware.

"WOOOHHHOOO!"

Take it for a joyride.

Rewards: New Equipment Added to inventory.

Jewellery Robberies: Base Assault

Needed: 30

Rolled: 67

See Base Assault Interlude.

Assist in the clean-up

Needed: 0/90

Rolled: 18

Your new armours joints barely strained as you lifted a broken chariot, used a laser to cut it into smaller chunks and tossed then into the skip. This site clear, you nodded to the foreman and moved on to the next area.

The clean up crews were grateful for all the help they could get, especially from someone with super-strength. But they were watching you constantly, and you couldn't grab as many materials as you wanted too.

But at least you got something.

Rewards: 3 Chitauri Materials, 1 Chitauri Crystal added to Inventory

Hang Out – Tony

Needed: 20

Rolled: 76

"You're watching me charge the Iron Man armour from Stark Tower's solar panels alone."

When you had decided to catch Tony's latest press conference, this wasn't what you had in mind.

"And as soon as I'm fully powered up, you'll see-"

"You'll see Iron Man rendered obsolete." Spoke a voice from high in the air as an orange beam cut through the thick cables tethered to Tony's suit.

Well, you expected ego stroking of course, but not like this.

"By the next generation in offensive weapons. Designed by me… the Melter!"

Tony didn't stay down for long. With a burst of his thrusters, he shot into the air and fired a stream of repulsor blasts, aiming to knock this Melter out of the sky.

In the middle of the crowd you crossed your arms and watched the show. No way you were going to suit up in the middle of a crowd of reporters. You couldn't risk trying to help out in more subtle ways either.

All it would take is one camera to spot glowing eyes or a flicking aura and you'd be done.

Besides, you thought as you watched Tony trash talk, he looked like he got this. A few minutes of dodging and firing later, you watched as Tony's blast missed and Melter finally made a shot in return, one which nailed the Iron Man's chest piece.

"Nice try pal," Tony taunted, "but this suit stands up to atmospheric re-entry. I don't care how hot your cute little 'melting ray' is. It's not going to-"

You stiffened as you felt part of Tony's suit failing. You surreptitiously slipped away of the crowd.

At the same time, Tony broke away from the beam. You were too far away to hear what he was saying but it must have pissed the Melter off because his response was to blow out a chunk of Stark Tower.

Melter deliberately turned away from the now covered Iron Man to address the crowd behind. "You just saw what I can do. But we live in a cynical world. You might just think I got lucky. So in the next few days I'll hold another demonstration." His visor covered face turned to directly address one of the camera's. "After that, the Melter technology goes on sale to the highest bidder."

He soared higher and his voice grew fainter. "If you have what it takes to be a buyer, you'll hear from me. If you don't, you might want to reconsider whether you're really as important as you think you are-"

His grandstanding was cut off as a golden beam shot him in the back. Snarling, he whirled around and met another beam to the chest.

"Hi," you said. Your current suit was light on equipment, only coming with a chest mounted laser and some boots to help you float, but your body was covered and your voice was masked, so you'd take what you could get.

"Who the fuck are you supposed to be?"

"The Traveller, now fuck off."

A great big smirk crossed his face. Oh how you were going to enjoy wiping it off. "Ah! Another one of Tony Stark's dogs soon to be rendered obsolete by my superior technology!"

He saw the beam coming this time and got out of the way.

He snarled.

You crossed your arms. "Leave the grandstanding for someone who cares. Now get lost, unless you wanna go for round two?"

Tony took the opportunity to smash his way out of the debris that used to be part of his tower.

Melter scoffed. "You're both yesterdays news, and I have a product to display." He started to fly away. "The Melter's prowess cannot be denied! HAHAHAHA!"

"What a tool." You muttered as he flew away. As much as you'd like to follow you were a little under-equipped at the moment, but he'd get his due. Tony wasn't the kind of person who'd let something like this stand.

Your boots touched the ground as you went over to give Stark a hand with the clean-up.

**

A few days later, you sat in the lab and listened to Tony and Rhodey talk while Tony repaired the War Machine armour.

"The armour itself holds up pretty well, but the ray burns through and breaks apart the internal circuitry." Stark mused while detaching a partially melted armour plate. "Maybe I can make some modifications."

"Hopefully," Rhodey muttered, smashing his fist into palm. "I want find this guy and break my fist upside head."

"Better hope we do. He's out to sell his tech to the highest bidder. If that ray gets mass produced, we're all in trouble."

"I'm surprised he had the balls to take you on and not want to fight me," you said, looking over Tony's shoulder and wincing. "Figured it would only enhance his pedigree. Doesn't make sense."

Tony shook his head. "No, that makes the most sense at all. He needed to be seen beating Iron Man, not the Traveller. No offense Jack, but no one knows anything about you. While there's almost no one willing to go toe-to-toe with me on a good day. Walking away from a fight with me is a much better thing to put on his resume. Now pass me the torch."

"None taken," you said, grabbing the saline torch off the bench and handing it to Stark. That was actually how you preferred it.

"Don't get me wrong, I had him on the ropes till he dropped my fucking tower on me," Tony muttered.

"He's not afraid of collateral damage," Rhodey said.

"All the more reason you two need to catch him," you said. You raised your eyebrow from their combined look. "What? He didn't call me out."

"You're not going to help?"

"I didn't say that. I said one of you two needs to be the one that beats him." A cocky smile crept on your face. "Of course, if you guys can't handle it, I'll be happy to take him off your hands."

"Oh hell no, it's on." Rhodey said, "though somethings been bothering me…" He turned to you. "You could shut down his suit at any time, right? Why didn't you?"

You shrugged. "It's not that simple. I need time to get a lock on him and the only time wasn't moving was when he was making his little speech and at point, he was a couple hundred of metres in the air. And if I did that…" You scratched under your chin. "Do you think he would've hit terminal velocity before he hit the ground?"

Tony laughed. "Enough of that. We need to find out who he is first."

"I can help with that." Rhodey said, looking at his phone. "Military intelligence just sent you an encrypted email. I'll need to get you through the security-"

"JARVIS, download and decrypt."

"Of course, sir."

"… or not."

"Message decrypted sir."

"Put it on screen."

Several holograms sprung up around you. "Bruno Horgan. Owner of a start-up robotics company. He was one of the many individuals attempting to build a suit similar to the Iron Man. When he couldn't replicate the repulsor technology he devised a new power source." A short clip played of Horgan's suit melting. "His presentation to military officials was a failure. His power source literally melted the armour off him. Last known contact shows that he had improved his technology, but he was rejected based on his previous failure. No further records exist."

"Its pretty obvious what happened next," Rhodey said. "He developed this 'melting ray.' now he wants to cash out, and to humiliate the folks that made him look bad, the military… and us."

"He's in hiding," Tony gestured to one of the displays. "Look at this, no money in his account, probably spent every cent he had on developing the Melter armour. He's off the grid, and I'm guessing the moment he sells, he's off to a private island somewhere."

"Then we take him down before he can complete his plan." You said.

"Leave it to me. It's going to take patience to locate this guy." Rhodey said. "The hard detective work of military intelligence officer." He gave you and Tony a look. "No offense to either of you, but neither of you are trained, or all patient."

"Well someone has a high opinion of themselves," Tony pointed out. "I'm a genius Rhodey, I can track down Horgan before you find your car keys."

"And don't count me out. I almost beat you before, I think this time I could bring it home." You said.

"I did beat you Jack, and this time I've got even more advantages. What makes you think this'll be any different?"

"Because you're wrong. This is about technology. And that isn't your area," your eyes burned gold. "It's mine." That armour had a distinct signature. You can probably sense it within a few kilometres if you focused enough. And you wouldn't mind taking a look at his tech. But on the other hand…

You raised your hands. "But this isn't a fight that Horgan picked with me, so tell you what… I'll stay out of it and let you two have first crack." For now.

Both Stark and Rhodey nodded.

"Okay, how about this?" Rhodey held out his hand. "Whichever one of us doesn't find Horgan has to polish the other one's armour by hand."

Stark took the hand. "You're on."

"So then… where are you gonna start?" You asked.

Alright, we have the materials we need to build a Chitauri reactor and a anti-gravity flight pack. Doing that will give us flight 4 permanently on our suit, which would be pretty good.

I would still like to get as much materials as possible, just so we can get the marauder armor.

Wouldn't it only give us flight 4 temporarily?
As the armor is using up our only permanent equipment slot.
. . . or does equipping tech into any armor equipment slot, let us maintain it via the armor? :???:

@K1ng how does slotting equipment/upgrades into our armor work?
Is it temporary, or semi-permanent (i.e. permanent when equipped in a slot, temporary when unequipped)?

Stark Tower: Base Assault 1
You had given the number you found to Stark. It led to a burner, impossible to trace. All he could tell you was that the number was still active.

Still useful, but not as much as you'd hoped.

You wrapped the cloak covering your (glorious) new armour around you tighter. Wearing this thing gave you almost as much protection as a tank, and you weighted about the same. Couldn't exactly take the subway while wearing it.

Thankfully, Tony was kind enough to let you borrow one of his many cars. If it also happened to be one of the ones modified to bear Iron Man level weight then why, happy coincidence.

Though driving on the other side of the road was weird.

Parking a couple of blocks away you moved towards the building, sticking to the shadows as much as possible in case they were smart enough to have a spotter.

The building looked the exact same as the last time you were here. Though this time you sensed a lot more energy coming from it.

Looks like the robbers made a couple of new friends.

And that wasn't the only thing you could see.

In front of you, on top of another rooftop much closer to the one you were after you could see a figure intently watching the building you were about to enter. From the angle you could see them, but they couldn't see you. Though that would change when you entered the building, they were watching it too intently for anything else.

Now its possible they could be a spotter, but you doubted it. For one thing you couldn't sense them carrying anything more powerful than an ordinary cell phone. And for another that particular rooftop was a pretty shitty location to keep an eye out for people coming towards the building until they were right on top of it.

Great for watching the building though. If it wasn't already occupied its probably where you would've camped out there instead of where you were now before going in.

Shaking your head, you banish any more thought on the potential spotter for the moment. First you should take a moment to think on how you should approach this. You know the layout, including the fact that there's an entrance around the side that will let you get the drop on them.

Or you could take care of the shadowy figure before doing anything else. And by take care, you mean talk too.

Or you could do something else, you have options here.

Though whatever you decide, you don't have much time.

So whatever you decide to do, you need to do it fast and you need to do it now if you want to catch these guys.

So…

What do you do?
[] Talk to the shadow. See what they have to say. Hold off on going straight in for the moment.
[] Move towards the side entrance you know about. Go in quietly, and try to take a couple out before you go loud. [Automatically used Stealth Field Generator if it is equipped]
[] Write in [If you attempt to make your write in a combination of the above actions your vote will be ignored] [Also you can also include temp equipment to justify why your particular action will work.]

Now, as for your equipment...
Will you use default loadout?

Head: []
Shoulders: []
Chest: []
Back: []
Arms: [Palm Energy Blaster] [Energy Shield Gauntlet]
Boots: []
Support: [Stealth Field Generator] [Jammer Suite]

Or shall you armour yourself differently? (choose up to 4) [please vote in plan]

REFER to Armoury Informational for list of possible equipment you can create.

I wanna write the next chapter tonight so votes will be on a 1 hour moratorium and then open for 12.

Since this is the first chapter testing out the technopathy equipment system there may be some issues that I cant see so everything is subject to change.

Good luck.

Any attachment equipment you will create doesn't take up a slot until its equipped to armour.

A Rector takes up no equipment slot and will give you some additional permanent equipment slots tied directly to that.

So what you can do next turn is create a reactor, equip it to the Vanguard Armour (which will give you 2 new permanent equipment slots for the Vanguard Only) and then create upto 2 pieces of equipment that can be permanently attached to the armour and still have 4 temp slots to customize your loadout whenever.

[X] Move towards the side entrance you know about. Go in quietly, and try to take a couple out before you go loud. [Automatically used Stealth Field Generator if it is equipped]

Chitauri Reactor + Anti-Gravity Flight Pack + HEAT Vision = Drone

A Drone could be useful, to scan the building from above and track enemy movements.

@K1ng what Earth materials do we have on hand? or nearby?
...I'm guessing Tony would be pissed if we cannibalised his car.

Do the robbers have any vehicles outside?
Could use them for parts, while also limiting their ability to escape.

You geared up before you came, to what extent depends on how you choose to arm yourself. So you have no material limits (for this enounter)

There are a couple of cars outside, but you don't know who's is who's.
