[ ]Plan: Spacenoid Expansion

Not entirely sure about Polyandry. But hitting genetic augmentations and automation is a direction I would be interested in going.

...Do the Clans do that?

They do that. In fact sex is something akin to a activity friends do rather than being something intimate for them.

Clans are very alien in lot's of places and even after people find out they were humans people still mistaken them as aliens due to how odd they are and it don't help they make so many genetic modification on they bodies that they barely can be qualified as humans anymore.

That's why I want to this society being recognizable as human but technological advance, no space mongols or creepy techno-cultists.

To be clear, you don't have to support that part specifically. The new Democratic system means you can pitch just your proposed part and I'll look to see how the popularity is. Also I noticed you didn't pick a faction for the voting system, you can if you want.

They do that. In fact sex is something akin to a activity friends do rather than being something intimate for them.

That's what I meant though. As I understand it, they don't do normal relationships, so it's not really the same as what's being voted on.

Though casual flings could also be a government policy I guess.

This people are from the Terran Hegemony so they have a much more Terran culture than everybody so I think polyandry is not something that's going to be that popular or even caught on, if our origin was someplace close to the Magistracy it's possible that would be more acceptable due to cultural exchange.

However we could, in theory, adopt certain aspects from the Successor States that probably are easier to swallow thanks to centuries of cultural exchange, of course we still need to provide a good explanation why we are doing this however.

[X]Plan: The orphanage
-[X] Buy surrogate children, a less hostile way of ensuring population growth, but will require significant government investment into childcare to be a stable solution in the long term
-[X] Mandate genetic augmentations, in particular Belter augmentations, allowing for safer living in space and allowing birth in zero-gee, all without significant medical resource expenditure and the procedures being permanent as they are passed on to children
-[X] Research more automation, as growth significantly beyond replacement isn't necessarily needed if a single individual can support 10, 20, 30, or more times individual productivity usingmachines, increasing as technology is developed
-[X] Subsidize births, a moderate expense with minor impact, but may be worth it for the small gain
-[X] Conduct trade with far-flung colonies, establishing relations and gaining useful goods

Logic: I'm not entirely on board with Polyandry given how regardless of how many men you add to a relationship it's the woman who determine the rate of child production.

So I'm replacing it with buying children because I think it'll lead to a more interesting societal outcome.

[X] The Military block, a coalition of primarily Marines with some Ship Crew and cooperative Army which believes the expedition should remain military in nature rather than becoming a democratic experiment, and which demands continued secrecy in regards to exploration due to the danger of the Great Houses should Elysium be discovered in their territory

Having a few more secrecy focused guys in office sounds good for now.

Primarily from the Hegemony, yes. Though the SLDF recruits from almost everywhere, and Belters in particular are highly represented in the Star League Navy, which is why Belter augmentations are readily available in stockpiles.

But yes, Polyandry is a cultural shock, though would generate less resentment than birth control bans.

Finalized Growth Plans
Available trade goods are limited by what can be obfuscated from current production reports, but fortunately the remodeling of government has provided ample opportunity to prepare a reasonable supply for a first visit. After careful consideration, the Prime Minister decides to send traders to:
[] The New Delphi Compact, a 'nearby' deep periphery 'power' consisting of planets colonized by supporters of the primitivist Omniss philosophy living at roughly early 1800's level of technology aside from certain allowances for interplanetary travel and a vibrant medical field. On the plus side, secrecy should be high as the nation has no HPG communication with the Inner Sphere. On the downside, their medical field is vibrant due to the virulent, deadly, and adaptable Delphi Curse disease, and there may be limited goods to actually trade.
[] Novo Franklin, a backwater agricultural colony world just outside the Outworlds Alliance and Federated Suns notable only for being remarkably poorly run, not even having a united colonial government and instead multiple competing groups. Likely even less trade potential than New Delphi, but at least there are no virulent diseases to worry about.
[] Antallos, officially a Star League trading post, Antallos is actually a multinational corporation-owned enterprise where everything is for sale, both legal and illegal. While Antallos is both nearby and certain to have opportunities, it is also guaranteed to have eyes from every state examining an unregistered and massive Star Lord jumpship.
[] Herotitus, an independent but successful agricultural world between the Capellan Confederation and the Taurian Concordat which has secured itself diplomatic neutrality. Travel time here will be the longest, but showing up should draw limited attention while still giving access to the Inner Sphere proper.

Kearny's medium term proposal receives wide support by addressing immediate issues without radically altering day to day life or freedoms. Simply funding relationships is seen as less offensive than forcing the issue with birth control bans or implementing radical Canopian social standards, while the investment in greater automation is seen as trustworthy as the Prime Minister, like most other government officials at the moment, still contributes part-time to the automation program he headed. The Belter augmentations are less well-received, but besides being an undeniably efficient use of limited medical supplies, regular vacuum drills and the other procedures necessary in any permanent space habitats have left an impression on the population that makes them cautious enough to properly prepare for extended void living.

Noteably, the 'Homesick' parties have steadfastly voted no on all proposals and refused to compromise, while the Terrestrial parties have shown willingness to cede ground in exchange for support on their key issues.

@Cloak&Dagger how did the vote counted? the results are not remotely the same as what's in the plan? And heck there's even a plan that wasn't counted? And i kinda annoyed at that.

Okay, I see. Some people voted twice and I counted their first one only. Which I will continue because you don't get to vote on two things simultaneously. If they want an either thing, they will need to specify.

And because of that, I mangled The Orphanage and Sustainable grow because both option makers posted twice so I accidentally slammed them together when I read it.

Give me a bit to recount and see if anything changes...

Okay, I recounted and nothing changed in the final result. Buying children got added to rejected proposals with 3 votes, but support for passing policies actually went up by more than 3 votes.

Crisis averted.

Edit: Wait no, this puts Polyandry below the passing threshold too. Editing post now...

Well we need food above all else and this option is better then the virulent backwater.

Really not comfortable risking New Delphi until our medical tech is better

Say @Cloak&Dagger can we create laws at some point?

Like I want to impose limits into human genetic manipulation and genetic engineering, I have no desire for this fledgling nation go into deep end like the Clans did on cannon.
