In Which I Watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Episode 57
And this episode starts with a minute long recap of the last episode followed by the OP, they're all but screaming that they're stretching this arc out to cover 2 episodes. Even after this it spends 2 minutes Joseph and Abdul steadily making their way to the fence and chasing off random strangers because they look really awkward stuck together. Once at the fence Joseph has Abdul try to move down towards his feet only to get stuck the steel belt buckle.

This is going to be the whole damn episode isn't it? Just jokes about how they look gay.

If this episode doesn't pick up fast it's going to the worst episode so far.

And then it keeps going with a crowd gathering while Joseph complains. My hopes briefly going up when Abdul manages to get away only to be dashed when he's drawn straight back in, this time looking like he's having sex with Joseph. As the cherry on top, the old lady from the last episode comes in and starts hitting them with an umbrella.

Just end already, this gag isn't even vaguely funny.

After 7 minutes, they split and roll down a hill to where Mariah is waiting for them. For some reason (dragging things out) Abdul doesn't just set her on fire while she's sitting clear away from any possible bystanders, instead they rush right toward her without checking where they're stepping and run into train tracks.

Having been in similar poses, all I can think of is how much the ankles must hurt at this point.

Still, they finally have an obstacle that doesn't make me roll my eyes.

Fun fact, trains don't come to a halt in a hurry.

As the train barrels towards them Joseph argues with Abdul about burning the train tracks only to be told no because it'll cause a massive accident until the train seemingly runs over them.

Actually hadn't thought of that.

With that they get up and start choking her before this happens

This episode has a way of getting bits of goodwill and then dashing them against shit like this. Yes, the idea of keeping screws around to hurl at magnetised victims is sound but did it have to be done like this?

While Mariah retreats to a safe distance Abdul makes a good case for just resetting the encounter by moving far enough away that they lose their magnetism but Joseph declares that he's never truly run away from a fight and goes for a pincer move strategy instead. As they run they pick up all kinds of fun things like beer cans and some poor sod's engagement ring and a guy's bike.

He'll be fine as long as he doesn't look down. Probably.

Once cornered, Mariah reminds them that powerlines are magnetic too.

Boy it would have been awkward if the knife throw was thrown off by their magnetism

While Joseph struggles with powerlines Abdul finally works up the will to torch her just in time to get hit by a car. Watching this, Mariah starts flirting with Joseph and he tries to leverage that into not getting shocked.

It's practically morning and I have no idea how exactly he's levitating here

The result is immediate though.

RIP

With that the fight's done and they clean themselves up before running after breakfast/away from the police.

Somehow she survived.

The episode ends with Jotaro, Iggy and Polnareff getting stalked by some guy named Alessi going after them while they're split up.

As you can tell, I definitely didn't enjoy this episode even if it dragged itself back closer to average towards the end, the start killed it.

I can pretty safely say as someone who overall enjoyed Stardust Crusaders, that it definitely drags in the middle. It'll pick up once they reach Cairo, but that's still a ways away.
