Imperial Ambitions (OOC Thread)

Well, my ships have a minor shield(will protect against 2-3 rail gun shots), about 6-7 feet of rock and steel to protect the inside of their ships, and weapons that launch giant spheres of biological material that explode into acid when they hit a sufficiently large surface at high speed.(the acid might also be able to go through shields, and do direct hull damage, but less then if the whole thing hit of course)

The Worldship Serenity

Role: Intergalactic Exploration and Colonization.

Length: 20 km

Height: 3 km

Width: 5 km

[Friends]: The ship consists of 32 Trillion Uelewa

Armour: 60-100 meters of extruded armor plating. New armour is grown, which pushes out old layers over time giving it self-repairing capabilities.

In-System Propulsion: Large thin membranes exist throughout the ship, forming an innumerable amount of differential sails. Each sail produces only a relatively tiny amount of thrust, but working all together, they manage to carry their friends forward.

FTL Propulsion: Variable length rips in space-time. Once the worldship has entered an area sufficiently free of gravitons (such as interstellar space), it punches a hole in the fabric of space-time, and glides through on it's own momentum, emerging at a distance ranging from as little as 5km to as great as 100 light years, though the most common result is about 5 light years. Unfortunately, the Uelewa do not know ahead of time how far they will be traveling and must recalculate their position upon emerging. Fortunately, if a large number of gravitons (such as is found with-in star systems), lies in their path, it forces them to emerge at the point just before the gravitons density is high enough to prevent a rip in space-time, preventing them from overshooting their destination, or emerging within the heart of a star.

Offensive and Defensive Capabilities: The Uelewa are capable of offensive and defensive abilities that far outstrip their civilization's technological level. While there exists no obvious mechanism for these capabilities, the strange, exotic energy readings that mark the species's presence magnify by several orders of magnitude. The Uelewa say it is the result of [friendship] and refuse to elaborate.

Sensors: Uelewa sensors are...barely adequate in most respects, but excel at detecting organic life. They have a range of roughly 20 light years.

Appearance: The Worldship appears as a gigantic, carapaced animal, seemingly drifting through space. During travel it resembles a long snake, with gaps opening up in between armour plates to allow large solar collectors to emerge, resembling thousands of wings. When engaged in combat, it contracts, almost completely curling up into a ball, where is resembles a shrimp or a craggy rock.

Description: As an intergalactic vessel, the Worldship is designed to be the pinnacle of Uelewa ship endurance. Great pains were taken to make it much more efficient than most Uelewa designs, with more capabilities towards resource management, recycling, and gathering than any vessel before it. It is to serve as the home, the entire world, for nearly all the Uelewa in this galaxy until they begin to find planets they can live on. Of course, when compared to other interstellar civilizations it seems wasteful and inefficient, but to the resource intensive, and unstandardized Uelewa it is their crowning achievement.

Design Flaw: The Worldship has two very obvious weaknesses from a military standpoint. First, it is incredibly obvious. It is huge, dense, and radiating large amounts of heat. What's more, it emits massive amounts of exotic energy, making it trivial to detect and track even at interstellar distances. Second, when compared to other civilization's comparable ships, it utterly lacks acceleration. It takes the Worldship days to reach a sublight speed that another species can easily reach in mere hours, with all that implies for maneuvering, interception, and intra-solar transport.

Engineering (Structural Integrity and Construction): 2
Defensive (Armor, Shields, Countermeasures): 10
Offensive (Weaponry): 10
Propulsion (Sublight Engines): 2
Endurance (Operational capacity to operate without supplies): 3
Sensors (Sensor range and/or precision): 3

Do you grow that thing?

Do you grow that thing?

Well, the short answer is yes.

The long answer is that it's the result of trillions of [friends] cooperating together in [friendship]. For example, a single sensor might actually be hundreds of Uelewa each performing a single function or task, working together to detect something. From an outsider's perspective, it's best to think of each Uelewa as a specialized cell in a larger organ, within the animal that is the ship.

I (Captain Samantha Chase) just use sheer will and determination to make shells fly away.

Hah, I wish. We use rapid-firing Kinetic Barriers and Absorbative Energy Shielding.
High Admiral Cobalt Razor deflects shots through the force of sheer bullshit.

Umrazi Reinforced Armor is like better UNSC honeycomb Titanium A, with a layer of DEW-dispersing gel underneath... and for the Undaunted Cartographer, it's got about three layers of each.

Gotta protect those civilians.

The gel is more effective than the armor, but that makes sense to a certain extent. The UC is so big that most KEW attacks aren't going to be able to seriously damage it in one strike.

Lathern Flagship- S.S. LANDERHELM

15 Km long, 5 Km wide, 3 km high, weight: 400 tons.

The S.S. LANDERHELM is the first Heavy exploration/battle ship the Chibi have built.

It is armed with powerful Frontal laser cannons and side cannons with ballistic, missile and laser variations, and is equipped with a Level 6 energy shield. It is capable of FTL, but requires a one hour charge in order to.

It is durable and powerful, but it is offset by the massive amount of staff and material required to run it and its speed is slower than most.

My sheet is a bit lackluster, but it's doable.

That's a bit... light for a 17km ship. It would in the hundreds of thousands of tons.
Heck even 400,000 tons is too light.
Try using a sorts of square cube law. Take the 3 dimensions of the Iowa battlehip and its mass then take the dimensions of your ship in comparison.
The result is 70-80 billion metric tons.
Over 20 times the mass of the Mount Everest.

Good, but be sure to fluff it out later.
