What about a pseudodragon, her new pet?
 
Can we become a bird? Like a hawk or a falcon or something? That way we can pretend to be her new pet or something.

Be aware that we are not the only magic users in the world. Every one who is important enough to claim the title of King (even if it's a king of thieves) is likely to have at least one magic user on their side. Also, Invisibility would probably the first thing thieves think about when they think about the kind of tools people can use against them.

Also, any plan which involves shape-shifting into a humanoid form or a weaker one is quite dangerous.

Strong or not, we will be much more vulnerable to throat-slitting. Thieves are cunning and dangerous, it would be better to not fight on their terms.

You cannot turn into something that is not an animal at this level of natural shapeshifting.

You cannot turn into an animal with less brain activity than a cat. (Or thereabouts, no insects.)

You still hang onto a couple dragon features when you transform (the alicorn is a good idea for that)

Pseudo dragon is valid and yes you can cast spells in any humanoid or draconic form.

[x] Turn into a Pseudodragon, play Kaya's pet, prepare spell use in case a fight brakes out. Or we want to get back the key. (fog cloud, illusions, 'help me' to our brother, charm, sleep, dominate, teleport, earthquake ... whatever is available and works. We did train with mother.)

That requires things to go according to plan. And considering that we are facing what is potentially a group of centuries old elven thieves, I'd say that any plan that involves sneaking/infiltration is playing thier game, which might not end well for us.

Let's use brute force, this is something that we're naturally good at, and won't give them plenty of chances to outsmart us.

At this level, Transformation speed into something you are used to becoming; about 1- 5 seconds if you sprain something. Into something totally new? If you're in a hurry, about 45 seconds so long as you don't get something wrong. Usually a couple minutes is best when figuring out a new form.

Edit: if you are in a shape other than your natural form and let go of the transformation all at once, you will turn back in a loud, concussive flash- bang.

Oooh so not only do we have an instant reversal to dragon, we can also take advantage of the fact that it comes with a side effect that would disorient anyone focusing on us- Such as, for example, an attacker.

The only downside is the size. If we misjudge the available place, we could get stuck. And if an ally stands besides us or we sit on her shoulder before transforming ...
