I'd like to apologize to you all again for this atrociously long delay. Real life issues are really freaking annoying, and scary, and draining, and How Do I WORD. But, I'm feeling better, most of the storm has passed, and I think I'm back in business!! Welcome back to Let's be a Dragon instead!! Let's do this thing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was really glad that Lucian was already out of harm's way. The only one I had to worry about concussing accidentally was Kaya. As soon as the geas broke, I reared onto my hind legs and released my transformation. The shock wave and flash made the surrounding brigands shout, and those closest were in the greatest danger. Kaya, whose back was to me, and the Wizard, who was more focused on Kaya, suffered the least from the shockwave of transformation. Everyone else was blown over... I hope I gave her father a concussion. He hit that rock pretty hard.
I reared on my hind legs and opened my jaws to roar, trying to scare the shit out of these guys and make them run in terror. It.... didn't work out that way. Even my dramatic REVEALS were flops!! I was hit in the face by a (Thankfully) empty pot, it made a rather large sound and startled me, but it didn't really hurt a lot. I pounced forward and grasped Kaya around the waist with one claw, and the Keystone with my other, and took to the air.
Well, the Gods of Dynamic Entrances might have hated me, but the Dramatic Exit Gods? They liked me well enough. I was able to pull off my vertical takeoff without a hitch.... er, well, without much of a hitch, that is. I sort of forgot about some tree branches above me. Kaya retained her seat, however, and I didn't go crashing down to the ground, so hey, I consider that a win!! Or, well, not a failure at least!
Of course, there was that little part of me marked 'High Drama' that just didn't want to let things go at that. Sooo....
I wheeled back around, and braked into a hover, to which Kaya responded by smacking at my claws and hissing "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING" at me, but the Devil made me do it. Really.
I grinned down at the thieves who were trying to pick themselves up, puffed up and said "JOKE'S ON YOU GUYS!! THE REAL TREASURE WAS FRIENDSHIP ALL ALONG!!" As loudly as I could. Kaya facepalmed, and I got a few incredulous looks, but all in all, I felt-
Whoops.
Fortunately, I still had the shield spell up from earlier, but I still faltered a little in my wing beats as a ball of green balefire struck at my magical shields. The bastard!! That wizard was aiming for Kaya!! "Hey!" I yelped, clutching her closer and flapping hard to gain distance between them and us. It was time to move on.
As I made to escape, Lucian flew over next to me and I noted that Tal seemed... Well, sort of angry. Like he wanted to fly down there and incinerate them all.
