@Ryuchanwings, here it is!
Alright, here is the omake I wrote!
I'm pretty sure that I got Kaya's character completely wrong, but oh well.
Also, it's a bit dark in places. Just giving you guys a warning.
A Rogue's Nightmare
"... And that's how I got the seal," Kaya pushed the glowing crystal froward, sliding it across the table to the hands of the black haired elf in front of her. He grasped the keystone with his slender fingers and looked all over it, as if searching for imperfections.
"Kaya Tev Aranala," He eventually raised his eyes to look at her, "You have performed better than I expected. Not only did you get the seal, you also befriended a… Notable individual," He smiled at her, though the smile didn't reach his eyes, "Having an informant in the dragon's group would work in our favor in the long run."
Kaya's face paled, and she pushed herself away from the table. She knew that she shouldn't have thought that they would actually let her go away after she befriended Ivorixia. She didn't even need to glance to the sides to see that the king's bodyguards were standing around her, preparing to stop her if she would try to escape.
"You will return to the high dragons and you will report to us about their endeavours," The black haired elf finally rose from his sit, "And when we give you the order, you will-"
"
I think not!" A thunderous voice echoed around the room and an entire corner of it was ripped out by a huge claw, as if it was a sheet of wet paper. The golden dragon peered into the room, with wrath in his eyes.
Kaya felt frozen by his gaze. It wasn't just about protecting his sister, he was full of hate towards her. Couple of plotting elves weren't something he hated on a personal level, but dragons didn't take betrayal easily. He had been suspicious of her from the moment his sister had taken the elf under her (literal) wing, and if given a reason to believe she would betray them, there wasn't any question what he was going to do:
Burn everything.
Kaya turned and leapt to the side as the space she occupied a moment before was filled with bellowing flames. She barreled through the door on the side and crawled away, biting her lips as she patted her lower back, which got singed by the flames. As Talothas continued to tear apart the building she was in.
The rogue didn't know how much time she ran away from the burning chaos, but eventually, the sound receded and she let herself rest with her side against a wall after turning around a corner.
"...!"
She barely heard anything, but her honed instincts let her roll away from the claw that swiped at her head, leaving claw marks at the stone the wall was made of. It was not Talothas who was standing in front of her, it was Lucian.
"Too bad, I was hoping to end it quickly," The feathery pseudodragon remarked, his tone cold and completely different from how he usually was.
"Here to protect AHaHa?" Kaya chuckled, amused by the absurdity of the situation "I swear, I'm breaking off with the thieves, I'm her friend, not a threat."
The angel wasn't easy to read in that form, but it was clear he was unperturbed by her remarks.
"Oh, but you are both," He claimed, walking around her in preparation to attack,
"You are a thief, a murderer. You might hide yourself from Ivori, but I can see your sins." He spoke in a cold, emotionless voice as he laid her nature bare in front of her.
Kaya grimaced, her hand sneaking behind her back to draw a dagger, "Don't you understand? I want to run away from that, I finally have that chance!"
Lucian stopped for a moment as if considering her words, before shaking his head.
"And in doing that you risk bringing down an innocent soul together with you," His eyes flared with cold determination and his body tensed.
"I will protect her, no matter what."
Kaya was so ready for him to pounce that she didn't notice his tail swooping around, hitting her ankle and making her fall to the floor. The pseudodragon leapt onto her and tried to bite her neck, only for her to shove her arm into his mouth, holding him back.
It was a short struggle, which ended with Lucian's lifeless body on top of her, cold blood dripping from where her knife pierced his neck.
The elf crawled from under the body, slowly standing up and continuing forward. Her body was a mess and the pain overwhelming, but it was overshadowed by her grief. She hoped that she could explain everything, that even if the rest of the world rejected her, that the innocent silver dragon would still take her in.
But she killed Lucian, and no matter how justified it was, she knew that there was no way Ivori would forgive her for this. Still, there was no where else for her to go.
She slowly limped into the treasure room, and there she saw the one she was looking for. A beautiful girl with the wings and tail of a dragon, seemingly content with picking up a coin after coin, inspecting it before putting it in a different pile.
"Ivori…" Kaya smiled, her problems momentarily forgotten. The dragon her turned to her and smiled, and the elf felt her heart skip a bit. Maybe it would be okay, maybe Ivori would really forgive her?
She half knelt-half collapsed in front of Ivorixia with tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry, Ivori, please. I wanted to leave all of it behind, I didn't want any of this to happen."
Kaya wept in front of the dragon girl, and the smiling girl placed two slender hands on her shoulders, steadying the weeping elf.
"Do you forgive me?" Kaya asked, looking into the cool silver eyes of Ivori. The dragon girl didn't answer, merely smiling at her before pulling her head towards the dragon girl's stomach, as if intending to hug her.
And then her entire upper body split in half, revealing rows upon wars of sharp teeth.
"Ah-" Kaya felt the mimic pulling her in in slow motion, she closed her eyes, not wanting to see the rows of teeth closing around her. In the end she didn't even get to tell Ivori she was sorry. But it was supposed to be that way, right?
She got what she deserved.
Yet… nothing happened. Kaya didn't feel hundred of sharp teeth piercing her from both sides. She opened her eyes to see herself sitting alone in the treasure room, with no trace of the deadly mimic around.
"You don't have to worry, Kaya. Nobody will hurt you here."
She snapped her head aside, and her eyes widened as she saw a golden feathery pseudodragon calmly walking towards her.
Yet… He was different from before. There was no malice to him, and it felt as if he was radiating heat in complete contrast to how cold everything else felt.
"Don't give in to your own fears, the fact that you have them means that you are not truly lost," Lucian turned around to leave as he spoke, but by the end of his sentence Kaya barely paid him any notice as her eyes were fixated on another silhouette that was approaching her.
"I'm here, Kaya," Ivorixia smiled, kneeling down in front of the elf and pulling her into a hug. For a moment Kaya completely lost herself in the hug. All her pain was gone, and she felt completely in peace.
"I'm sorry, Ivori-" She started to speak, but the dragon girl stopped her by placing a slender finger on her lips.
"It's okay, Kaya. No matter what happens, I'm at your side. You can always talk to me, and I'll never push you away."
Kaya pushed her head against Ivorixia's chest, tears rolling down her eyes.
She didn't look up, but she could practically feel the dragon girl smiling as she placed a hand on Kaya's head. "I don't care if it's the thief king or the lord of demons himself, nobody will take you away from me."
She placed a slender finger under Kaya's chin and lifted her face up to gaze into the elf's eyes, "You are mine, Kaya, and I won't let anyone hurt you."
It was weird to be so moved by a sentence that coming from another set of lips would make Kaya feel no small amount of dread. But she knew what Ivori was, and she understood the dragon's intentions.
"I love you too, Ivori," She smiled at the dragon girl. The silver eyed girl smiled and pulled her face closer.
Their lips met, and Kaya forgot everything that troubled her.
It was the best moment she had in a long while.
The elf slowly opened her eyes, feeling the sun rays on her face through the window. For few moments she continued to lie down and think, taking the time dissecting what just happened to her.
It took her few moments to understand that she was indeed dreaming, and that Talothas hasn't actually roasted the thief king while they were meeting in a place that was within walking distance of Ivorixia's treasure room. Yet the memories that stuck with her the most were the last few moments with the dragon and the words they shared, which brought a blush to her face.
"I see that you have woken up. Are you alright?" A voice asked, nearly making Kaya jump out of the bed to grab the closest knife.
"Aaaah! Lucian, what are you doing here!?" She sat up and glared at the pseudodragon, quite unhappy to find him in the bedroom she has appropriated in the ruins that Ivorixia had made into her lair.
The cute feather dragon tilted his head while observing her,
"I felt that you were having an unpleasant dream, so I came here to ease your sleep. "
Kaya blinked several times in surprise after hearing that. She had several questions, but one was way more pressing than the others.
"My dream…" She asked, her tone cold as ice, "Did you see any of it?"
The angel stared at her for few moments before slowly nodding,
"Yes, most of it."
With a flash of anger Kaya grabbed the closest item she could reach and flung it at Lucian's face, "Don't you dare tell her a word about this, you hear!?"
The pillow softly impacted the pseudodragon and remained on his head like some kind of large fluffy berate. Lucian seemed to consider his next words carefully, which angered Kaya even more.
"I will not lie to AHaHa, but I'll make effort to preserve your privacy," Lucian gave that non-comitant answer before gracefully leaving the room in hopes of avoiding the second pillow that went flying at his direction.
Kaya took a deep breath and exhaled. She wasn't sure how much of the last part of the dream she had was her and how much was Lucian's effect. Was she truly yearning for something like that, or was the angel's loyalty rubbing off her?
Whatever it was, she knew one thing:
She wanted to know if kissing the same lips she kissed in her dream would fill the void in her and let her find her own place in the world.
A/N:
I tried to show how Kaya might view the rest of Ivori's party (All of which are quite dangerous, to be honest). For all she knows Tal might be a very dangerous dragon and Lucian might be moments away from burning the heretics, but they are all held back by Ivorixia. She doesn't know them all that well.
Adding to that her problems with the king of thieves which presumably have some influence over her, and it wouldn't be far fetched for her to have a not so pleasant dream about everything going wrong.
Of course, it was all a dream, which ended quite well thanks to Lucian's intervention. Now, the only question is would Lucian tell Ivori about Kaya's feelings~?
P.S. Ivori X Kaya OTP!
P.S.S. Mimics are terrifying.
