CQC good.

Also, chess fundamentally is a game of shock more than of fire, and so I don't think Uroburo fundamentally gets that "le feu tue". Thus we should lean into what we do get, close action.

It will cost a morale point to ask, but... we need to attack a location. Sure, it may be mostly a run-and-grab, but there may be hostiles nearby that need to be cleaned out first. We need Offensive Tactics.

Hostiles nearby that can be taken out with artillery strikes while in the open and forced into locations where they might be snuck up on and eliminated in close quarters combat.

Artillery is both limited by our ammo and very noticeable/loud. Loud => draws attention => causes direct combat => needs offensive tactics.
There are open fields there too, and in general plenty of situations in which our enemies will know of our approach from an appreciable length.

Currently, our best bet is to sneak in using Recon + Offensive Warfare, do some sneaky kills with CQC and maybe do some Artillery shots followed by running, because we aren't capable of fighting a conventional battle, on offensive or defensive.

My problem with above is that it's... brittle. It assumes we manage to avoid getting into drawn-out, conventional fights.

I'm curious, for our melee only units like Brutes, do they also take advantage of CQC knowledge, or is it just Ouroboros?

Since Ouroboros is to an extent controlling them, as long as she plans out how they should attack, they should take advantage of the CQC knowledge too. The real question is how to get them in melee range against guns in the first place though...

Honestly, if we are going to go with the meleeish centric team, Dreamer and Destroyer would be my go to since Destroyer have bombs that Ouro can learn to attach to the brutes and dinergates to make them a proper threat (though the loss of units will be quite high, but then again, those are somewhat disposable units rotting in the warehouse), and Dreamer will force Ouro to learn how to use the units properly in some way or another.

Still, scarecrow is asking for help with alchemist, and having more support among the group despite Ouro's inclinations can only be a good thing. The signature skills are pretty fitting for Ouro too.

Both are pretty tempting... but I guess I will go with the crowd here.

Smoke grenades, distraction firing from cover to keep them focused one way while sneaking troops in from another direction. Sneak a group of brutes into the woods while enemy patrols are far from the location, wait until they pass close and use artillery fire to drive them towards the cover of the woods where an ambush waits. Use a truck piloted by lone Digi as cover for a truck with some of our best units. Use E-warfare to creat a false signal to lure them into the woods for ambush.

Those are actually pretty good ideas. We should try to use some of them in the battlefield.

I'm not sure what the truck one is supposed to do though? Wouldn't they just shoot at the truck regardless of what is inside?

[X] Why wait? Go straight northeast to rescue/resurrect Hunter and Executioner (gain 2 ringleaders as subordinates, if successful).

Mostly because I can't decide which of the other ones would be better.

The truck acts as a meatshield, having only one or two highly expendable units inside and absorbing the brunt of the damage taken in the closing action, allowing the second truck and it's larger compliment of higher quality dolls to reach the enemy intact and engage in close range combat.

I'll just note that if you want to be attacking anything, you probably want at least one skill point in Offensive Tactics. You probably want Ouro to be able to a nice bounding overwatch instead of just zerg-rushing the enemy machine gun nest, right? :V
Tactical decisions matter as well as Ouro's innate skills. The blunder into the patrol in the forest did not have to happen, though a bit of Recon would have provided a safety net.

EDIT: A bit of Offensive Tactics skill would have made the attack on the bunker itself much cleaner, mind you.

You know it's a good idea to get Offensive Tactics if even the author is hinting at it. I suggest we follow it. Had Intruder decided to not put in the good word for us, we would have been in big trouble. It's time to get better at attacking.

That makes sense, we definitely need it. For the next mission though? The important part was "if you want to be attacking anything", and right now we want search & rescue. Will we be able to even locate our downed teammates without recon? And get them out without having to fight every GK patrol out there?
Another argument is we probably want to train with Gager and Architect, but right now only have time for 1 of them. And I'm pretty sure the missing duo will be able to train us in offensive tactics after we rescue them, in case we need it before we can visit Gager.

We already have a level of Recon from an earlier vote, so I want to get offensive tactics in case we need to break through to reach them or possibly break out to escape.

Visiting Gager fulfills two vital functions - listening to Agent, and learning tactics slightly more advanced than 'charge directly towards enemy so I can punch them'

We've got pretty high recon at this point and having more individual combat ability should be helpful in a stealth-based situation like this, since we may be too busy finding and smuggling the other ringleaders to get a perfect combat setup. Even if we do get the recon needed for such an attack, we should actually be able to attack to take advantage of it.
(Also I find engineering/repair to sound really good both defensively in case Ouro gets damaged later and useful right now in case Hunter and Executioner are crippled in a way we can help with.)

I wanted to check on Alchemist even before I saw a message from her. I was worried that we'll have to choose between the mission and any other options.

It looks like having people interpret your results in a positive way might be better than having positive results! Should adjust our victory parameters!

...we really need someone like Intruder to have our back. Scarecrow sounds very approachable, with our joint area of interest.

But also, remembering what Intruder said:
"Oh, their battlefield prowess? Well, Executioner is quite fond of swordplay. She can run at cheetah speeds, but with significantly more endurance than an actual cheetah. That's the wonders of modern materials science for you. She's always very eager to close the gap." The corner of her mouth turns down for a fraction of a second. "Perhaps too eager in some cases.

"And Hunter has a pair of hand cannons she's quite fond of. I'm still trying to convince her to try cosplaying as a Wild West gunslinger. She likes infiltrating key enemy positions, hit and run raids, falling back and laying traps and ambushes, that sort of thing.

"Together, the two are as thick as thieves. They operate quite well as the hawk and hound. If only the pair and Scarecrow were willing to play nice with each other, as ordained by the playwright, they'd be perfect…but alas, no one is perfect."
Maybe we can make them play nice.
