[X] (House) Gryffindor
[X] (House) Slytherin

[X] (Motivation) Your were fairly certain you'd end up in Gryffindor like the rest of your family, but despite all the horror stories from your brothers of dark wizards, a part of you that you've never been able to shut up has always craved the power Slytherin supposedly offered so you could stand out and have Harry Potter notice you from your brothers to escape the endless hand-me-downs and the fate of being just "the youngest Weasley."

[X] (House) Ravenclaw
[X] (Motivation) A large part of it is that you want to learn as much as you can and you want to be around people who feel similarly (for once) and a tiiiiny part of it is that, well, you want to see the look on your brothers' faces when they see a Weasley get sorted outside Gryffindor.
-[X] For Luna too

Huh, I'm only speculating here, but I think if you did a general poll on people's favourite Houses, it might be a tie between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, though Slytherin could be a contender for the goth crowd. Gryffindor I actually think might come last, due to over-familiarity

[X] (House) Gryffindor
[X] (Motivation) Harry Potter Every other Weasley ended up in Gryffindor, so you're pretty sure you'll end up there too

[X] (House) Ravenclaw
[X] (Motivation) Due to certain traits such as an Eidetic memory and being a bookworm Ravenclaw would be rather fitting as well as the presence of Luna. Though at the same time Gryffindor is where many previous Weasley's have ended up in.

[X] (Motivation) You know cracking runic puzzles and reading textbooks isn't most people's idea of a fun summer, but you think you might find more people who agree with you in Ravenclaw.

Don't forget that this isn't an actual vote people. If you feel like a previous vote fits your idea perfectly that's all good, but don't feel like you have to vote for something "close enough" to avoid splitting votes. If you have a different spin on a house interest or your own ideas, go ahead and they will be taken into account anyway even if they don't win.

All responses to this vote will be incorporated into Ginny's internal thoughts on the Houses, not just the winning response. Ginny's build and chosen character traits will also factor in to the Sorting Hat's decision. The winner of the vote is not necessarily the House that Ginny will be sorted into, but the arguments and motivations involved will have significant impact on which house she ends up in.

Guys, don't forget the vote is also about Ginny's thoughts, so added your two cents about how you want her to grow and which direction, it could influence more than the short term.

[X] (House) Slytherin
[X] (Motivation) you were always curious, dark magic, good magic, dark wizards, good wizards, you never really understood it, when studying with Bill there was always that nagging voice in your head, why the separation, why do people always look at the dark arts as so bad, sure, there are differences in the approach for casting DADA spells and actual Dark art spells, but the goal is the same, that said, the spells are meant to fighting and the wizard decides what to do with the power.

It is all power, morality doesn't really matter beyond what the wizard decides, and for him to always comply with his views he must have power, as power brings choice, I want to go to Slytherin because they don't look at it as good or bad magic, or at least give it less importance, what matters is magical power, if you have power, you get to decide what will happen.

[X] (House) Hufflepuff
[X] (Motivation) The guests from Hufflepuff always brought the best cookies as gifts. Really they were all welcoming and comfy people. It would also be nice to both surprise your family by not being in Gryffindor, and to escape the strong expectations the other houses carry with them. You will be the captain of your soul, the master of your destiny.

Ravenclaw is likely to win, which is all well and good, but I'll at least toss in my reasoning for Slytherin.

[x] (House) Slytherin
[x] (Motivation) Those boys you've been crushing on? Pretty and powerful? That's your goal too. They're above it all, so much better than everybody else in a way you've not quite quantified yet. It's something you're working towards, though. You don't want to be just another Weasley, you want to stand out from the crowd and make a real impact. You're not abandoning your family, but what better way to protect them than within the pit of snakes itself? If you prove yourself enough then even within Slytherin they wouldn't dare to insult your family. And it's not like it's forever, anyway. You'd daresay you're more worldly than your peers, and to say that you want to travel is an understatement. There are things out there that you might come across that ordinary magic alone would be insufficient to deal with, and you doubt the other Houses can teach you the less reputable arts.

If we had chosen any other wand wood I would not have such a problem with Ravenclaw, but knowledge for knowledges sake is far too timid an ambition for the wielder of such an instrument. Gryffindor is also interesting but Weasley pride works really well with Slytherin.

For some feedback: This looks great so far, but using Runes as some kind of magical computing language doesn't mesh well with my interpretation of the whimsical nature of magic in the world of Harry Potter, and I have never seen a story that has managed to build a world in which it was actually fun to read about, but I'm looking forward to your interpretation OP.

How does enchantment work, is it normally charms? Runes? Combination? Why are goblin made things so famous?

Thanks. This is helpful to hear and good for me to keep in mind.

I have ideas for how to make magic more entertaining to read about if players want to have Ginny go deep into magical lore research, but I agree that that sort of content usually ends up pretty dry/less entertaining to read. If we end up pursuing that, I'm hopeful the workarounds and puzzles I have in mind for it are able to keep the text interesting. My other quest, The Hyūga Affair (currently on hiatus), had a decent amount of text devoted to the inner workings of chakra that readers said they enjoyed, and I'm hopeful that I'm able to translate that spark into discussion of the magic system here's working if players choose to dig into it.

The first question is hard for Ginny to answer. Transfiguring something could be described as enchanting it, but she'd consider Charms or Potions to be more common ways of enchanting items. She supposes Dark Curses could be described as enchantments too. Runes could be involved in those Charms or Potions or Dark Spells or even Transfigurations of items, but she doesn't know how enchantment through Runes would work if the Runes weren't being used to do some other form of magic. Bill or Dad would probably know more than her about it.

Goblin made things are famous for their quality above all else. The secrets of how they are made are deeply treasured by Goblin-kind. Ginny doesn't know much more than that, but it is something you could try to learn about in the Hogwarts library, through professors or through people in close contact with Goblins.

Vote will remain open until 12:00 PM CST 01/01/2022. As it stands, Ginny feels more strongly about Ravenclaw, but has more thoughts and arguments going on in her head about Slytherin. She's excited to see the look on her family's faces either way.

Dang it. I excluded Luna in my Motivation write-in for a reason.

Tho I'll admit I like that adding her in as a subvote makes her feel like an after-the-fact justification for why we picked Ravenclaw.

"I want to learn everything! Oh and I guess my friend is there too or something lol"

Oooh I like this one:

Luna is awesome, it is also fun trying to separate from her words what might be true and what is a complete nonsense.

Like her mentioning mysterious case of Mr. Crouch, we know what happened with him in canon, but this is clue for divergence points.
