When described with one of those terms:
-Strike-Type
-Aerial-Type

It means that the technique is not one of the Basic Techniques, and thus doesn't necessarily do as or defeats the same category of techniques the Basic Technique of the same type does. In this case, all you can do is gamble.

[X] That he can't let something like this beat him if he's going to live up to Garo's example. He must stand strong.

I...I cannot...I cannot let...something like this...beat me!

If I am going to live up to Garo's example...then, I must stand strong!

"Are you going to fight alone?!" Ichiko asks in disbelief.

"HE IS NOT!" I ignore the pain and the protests of my body. I ignore everything as I force my limbs to move, my legs holding up my body as I swing the Kiba Sword and behead a Horror. "I'M STILL HERE!"

"I can see that." Akio comments while swinging his sword in a large arc to keep away the mass of Horrors. "Can you still fight?"

"I'll stop only when I'm dead." If it is really destiny that I die here, I will not shame the name of the Makai Knights!

"Good enough." He nods in approval before tossing a glance at Ichiko and Rokuro. "Start the spell: we will keep the Horrors at bay."

"...Don't die." Ichiko finally mutters before she starts the preparations together with Rokuro.

"Hear that?" I point my sword at the Horrors. "I'm your opponent!" A bit lacking for a taunt, but it works: two Horrors rush at me, and I weave through their attacks while searching for an opening. Finding one I kick the first Horror in the back of the knee, making it stumble before I grab its arm and swing the body at the second Horror.

I put myself back between the Horrors and the Saikoro siblings before throwing my sheath at the first Horror. The projectile hits it between the eyes and stops its charge, though the second Horror manages to nick me when I jump to catch back the sheath. The same thing happens a second time before I repeat my previous move and toss the stunned first Horror at the second one.

The heads of two Horrors roll in front of me before Akio steps next to me. His once pristine appearance is all banged up: his hair are messy and his clothes are both torn and bloodied, to say nothing on the sweat on his skin. "Those pests..." He grits his teeth. I've never seen Akio so angry, the situation must be dire indeed. "Kurogane! Summon your armor!"

If he thinks it's necessary it must be so. I raise my sword in the air and, slashing a circle, summon the Kiba Armor. Akio does the same with the Ogha Armor.

"A black Makai Knight?" Lotus mutters. "It cannot be..."

Is that character development?

Sempai has been the MVP of this mess.

How about:
[x] Sheath Throw 4, Sheath Throw 4, Grapple 5, Reed in the Wind, Reed in the Wind, Grapple 5

I suspect that horror 5 is following a "basic strike, basic strike, block" pattern.
That works so long as 6 doesn't throw out more grapples than we suspected.

[x] Sheath Throw 4, Sheath Throw 4, Grapple 5, Reed in the Wind, Reed in the Wind, Grapple 5

Why are we doing Reed on actions 4 and 5 against Horror 5 besides some clash dice? It doesn't automatically defeat Strikes, and we'd get 2 Health back from doing Blocks instead, which does defeat Strikes.

[X] Sheath Throw 4, Sheath Throw 4, Grapple 5, Block, Block, Grapple 5

Arc 8.5: Flower of Darkness
[X] Sheath Throw 4, Sheath Throw 4, Grapple 5, Block, Block, Grapple 5

Akio wastes no time charging a group of Horrors with a battlecry, the Ogha Sword flashing through the air with more strength than finesse. Clearly, it means he believes now it's the time to end things as quickly as possible. Considering the beating we received so far, I agree.

"Do you think using your armor will change-" The first Horror boasts before my sheath flies towards and through its skull, planting itself on the ground under the quickly-vanishing body.

"Yes, we really should have done it sooner." I comment before running to retrieve the sheath. The other two Horrors try to intercept me but only one manage a glancing blow, my armor protecting me.

As I pick up the sheath I consider throwing it again before realizing that, with my augmented strength, it may not always bounce back. So I switch for a sword swing at the oncoming Horrors, which deflects a fist encased in scales and cut off a hand which isn't. Without wasting time I grab the stump and use the maimed Horror as a bat against the second Horror.

The two Horrors fall into a heap before, with a roar of defiance, they leap back to their feet and engage me in close-range combat. Clearly drawing from their host's memories the first Horror unleash a barrage of kicks, while the second one switch to a style based on knife-hands. I am unfamiliar with both, but luckily the boost from the Kiba Armor is big enough that I can compensate with raw physical might.

Observing their movements I wait, and when the first Horror lowers its leg to switch with the second one I grab its head with both hands and smashes it against my knee. The sight of me crushing a head into paste a second time is enough to give the second Horror pause.

"FALL BACK!" Ichiko screams. Without waiting to take stock of the situation around me I jump towards the siblings' position, Akio doing the same a second later.

That's when a giant dice lands in the middle of the remaining Horrors from above, the impact scattering it into a wave of smaller ones.

The night lights up from multiple explosions going off at the same time.

"Coff! Coff!" Rokuro coughs harshly and waves away the smoke, myself and the other imitating it. Why Makai Armors don't have an air filter? "[Bite The Dust]-Coff! Success!"

"I thought your ancestors specialized in Numerology and Divination? Coff!" I asks.

"True, true. Coff! But explosions are, ya know, cooler."

"Do you really have time for idle chatter?" The voice of the Horror called Lotus comes from deeper into the smoke. Damn, did it escape-

With the sound of dozens of people screaming at the same time the smoke is blown away, revealing the fact Lotus has assumed its true form.

I wish it didn't.

Eight headless, lion-like bodies form a crown around a central point, their butts joined together by an excrescence of glowing, pale blue flesh that rise like the stalk of a flower, humanoid upper bodies growing out of its surface and twisting into unnatural angles. At the very top rests the only straight-standing upper body: female, with flowing blue hair and orange eyes burning with hate.

"Oh God." Rokuro groans, followed by a dry heave.

"So, about Lotus." Raio begins like there isn't a monster from a very bad horror story staring down at us. "Cannot move around very quickly, but its lower bodies are faster than you may think up close. Not that it needs to be close, since it specializes in long-range attacks and-"

"SHUT UP!" The horror screeches before the bodies on the stalk point their hands at us and unleash a barrage of lasers, forcing us to leap back to avoid them.

So since this thing is Distant, we can only do Mid attack unless we want to close in (which would be with an Advance technique).
I think we're gonna need to get close, since we only have a Block as a guaranteed weakness that we can exploit.

As for the Advance techniques we have...
Aerial Strike (Mid, Aerial), Simple Rush (Mid, Rush), Falling Meteor (Mid, Aerial), Sheath Throw (Mid, Projectile), Reed in the Wind (Mid, Defensive), Blazing Armament - Black Fang (Mid, Rush+Overdrive)
