Holding Out For A Hero: An Original Superhero Quest

[X] Keep trying to find a way inside. (Perception +10 IQ +5)
The hilarity of the cigarette option is appealing, but maybe we can do that on the sly if we continue to be stymied by the flames Lussiac is kicking up.

[X] Go through the fire and hope your barrier can handle it. (Roll Mystic Arts)
- [X] Use your speed to get through the fire as fast as you can. (Speed. Provides a bonus on Mystic Arts on success)

I still really don't think running through the fire is a good idea, but the dice aren't cooperating. Again. I don't like the idea of just waiting, the joke option is amazing but still a joke, so ...

Can we try to bust through a wall, or use magic to douse the fire? It's time to think up a solution on our own.

Our barriers block gasses yes?

Could they smother the fire with its own smoke?

You can try the former. Busting through the was isn't the problem. The problem is that there's still fire blocking it. A passed perception roll would have let you know if there were more or fewer flames to go through it you went that route. Right now, you just see flames everywhere.

You'd need either a larger barrier, or a lot of time. By that time, Lussiac will either die of heat stroke or, if she found a way out, be on her way to Palo Alto.

Alright. I'm gonna go and look through our magic powers to see if anything sparks an idea, but right now it looks like we're just going to have to hope for a low roll, and that the villain ain't ready for creatures.

spectacular.

Meh. Ain't happy about any of this but we're out of options and time. Fuck it.

Don't worry, I have a backup character in mind of you die.

Rolling.

Edit: Speed failed, but Mystic Arts succeeded. I hope the Mystic Arts success makes up for the failed Speed.
Edit 2: Oh goodie, we just needed Mystic Arts to succeed.
Oshha threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: Speed Total: 65
65 65

While I apperciate there being a risk of death, I would like to request that we be made aware of the possibility of dying before it happens and we don't just get killed off by a bad roll without there being any vote or something to give us a chance to avoid dying.

If our character is to die, I don't want it to be due to something that the players have no agency over.

Don't worry. I'm not planning to have a Sonya because of bad luck. She might lose a fight, she might get hurt, but I don't want her to just die without any fanfare. I'm not playing against the PC. I want her to do cool things. I want her to win. Thing is, if you can't lost, then winning doesn't mean much.

...
You take a deep breath and run. You run through the flames, and the air gets hotter and for a split second, you can't see anything. The smoke, the flames were blocking your view, but you know where you're going. You put your shoulder forward and crash through the door. The wooden door is shattered under your strength. Quickly looking around, you see a desk right in front of you with a still working comouter on it. On the opposite wall, you see some open filing cabinets. But to your left, across the office, you see an open trap door, swung open. When closed, it looks like another part of the concrete floor, but you don't see it from where you are.

Wht you do see, is that it's closing.

You see that it's closing.

You start running, trying to get to the door before it closes. If Lussiac is anywhere, she's down there. And if that door is closed, you might not get it open again. Before it can close, you grab it. With a heave, you push the door open. The door starts to groan as you push against the hydraulic joints. You push it open far enough to climb through, and you start to hear a grinding sound as the door tries to close.

Outside of the office, in the front and back doors, the steel doors are kicked in, and fifteen officers storm inside. Flashlight beams shine throughout the warehouse as the officers storm in.

"Police! Get the fuck down!"

"Back entrance clear!"

"Storage room is going up! There's fire everywhere!"

"Blue, ADP Grenades forward, we aren't letting this slow us down."

[] Don't say anything.
[] "She went this way."
[] "I'm Vigil, don't shoot!"

[] Jump inside.
[] Push the door to the other side to try and break it and keep it open. (Strength Roll)

Well the question is how much we trust the cops.

And apparently we do.

[X] "She went this way."
[X] Push the door to the other side to try and break it and keep it open. (Strength Roll)

If they fire on us though - well there will be ramifications later.
