Well it cut off at f so it was supposed to be fight. But I think that whoever it was won the roll off.

It's a pass but not a strong pass like the stealth we're opposing. Maybe we pick up that there's something but can't pin down what?

Alright, I'm almost done. I just need one more roll. It's going to be a Current Events (Local). Since you don't have that skill, it's going to be IQ with a penalty of 2. It's just to give some extra information on the mission that Kachuusha is pitching.

"Yeah, sorry, I live under a rock. Probably why I missed the technology change away from plate armor."

...
It is late night to early morning in Lake Hartford. It's small town northwest of Hartford. The streets are empty, everyone either asleep or enjoying the nightlife across town. You're using what seems to be your standard disguise, as you make your way down the streets. However, you've taken to wearing a ski mask under your illusion. You just hope that the ski mask doesn't clip through your disguise.

You, having stashed your bike elsewhere, walk up to the Yellowtail Marina. The marina looks abandoned with the only lights around being the streetlights. There are several boats that are docked there. Some are just speedboats, some are fishing boats. One, medium sized boat, and by far, the largest one there, has a yellow star on the bow.

"Looks like this is the place." You say to your earpiece.

"Yeah. I'm not picking up anything on the traffic cams. Looks like you're clear" Jasmine says on her end.

"You got the communicator?" You ask.

"Yeah. If something goes wrong, I have a line to Stampede." Jasmine says. "Good luck in there"

You walk onto the dock and climb on the deck of the boat. The boat itself is long, but the area that you can walk on that's above water is rather small. There's a chest that probably holds some fighting or diving equipment, or it would if it was a regular boat. With a Vigilante, there could be anything in there. There is a cabin for the boat's pilot. There is a lot of equipment here, though you can't make heads or tails of it. On the floor of the cabin, there's an open hatch that leads down. and a small area with some benches.

"Doesn't look like anyone's here..." You say. Maybe you're early? Maybe something happened. But you're here, and you don't know where to go from here.

"I don't like this..." Jasmine.

That's when you hear a vibrating sound from the electronics, and a bright light starts to flash. Your heart starts pumping and you turn around to face it, when you see that it's a phone. You had overlooked it at first, but you see the phone is receiving a call. Looking at he caller ID, it simply says "Answer Me".

"Can you trace where the call is coming from?" You ask Jasmine.

"Not with the setup I have right now" She answers. "I'll need to keep it in mind next time I go to the store...."

You sigh and pick up the phone. Hopefully it was Kachuusha, but it it wasn't, well, you'd deal with it. "Hello?"

"Are you here for the meeting?" A voice says on the other end of the phone.

"Yeah" You say. "Boat on the Marina. Yellow Star on the bow." You say.

"You're in the right place" The voice says. "And I'm sorry about the cloak and dagger stuff, but I need to make sure you are who you say you are. There's a few people who'd want us dead"

"Honestly, I really want to make sure you are who you say you are too" You say.

"I get it" The voice says. "Anyway, a couple of weeks back, you fought Profligate. How did that fight get started?"

"It was a pair of lasers" You answer. "Profligate took out both my tires at the same time. After that, it was him or me"

There is a pause from the other side. "Well, looks like either you're the real deal. Not too many people know about the lasers. That part wasn't in the papers. Come on down the hatch. I'll meet you down there.

As you climb down, you find a rather spacious area below deck. To your right, is a table surrounded by chairs with a map on top of it. In front of you is a hallway with several rooms on either side. While most of the doors are closed, one is cracked open.

There's a bright flash that comes from the room before the door opens. Out of the room comes Kachuusha. She's wearing a pink and yellow top with matching long gloves and skirt and white thigh high boots. Her hair is dyed blonde with pink highlights. Her face is covered with a mask that only leaves the area around her mouth visible.

"So, you're The Vigil, huh?" She says, looking you up and down with a smile on her face. I'll admit, I thought most of the bulk was just your armor, but it looks like I was wrong. Anyway, to properly introduce myself" As she introduces herself, you can see her face brighten "I'm The Sensation, The Shining Beacon! But you can call me Kachuusha" She reaches out to shake your hand. You take her hand and shake it, and she gives you a small bow as you do.

"Um... thanks." You say. "Looks like you've already guessed, that I'm The Vigil. Thanks for meeting with me"

"Well, thanks for coming." Kachuusha said. "Anyway, have a seat over there." Kachuusha flies to a seat and gently floats down. As you get closer to the table, you can see a map of the state on it. Several locations are circled, crossed out, and have comments on them. You take a seat.

"So, you said there's something you wanted to being me on for?" You ask.

"Right. So, you know about Artillery." She says.

"Yeah. I beat her a few weeks ago. She's still in prison last I checked" You say.

"Yeah. Well, apparently, the people she was working for have been very busy. Have you heard about the jet that took off down in Baxter a few weeks ago?"

"Can't say I have" You say. Don't get much time to watch the news" Baxter, Texas is a large town in the center of the state. Their football team and yours have been enemies since you were a kid.

"Well, a jet took off from an Air Force Base here." She says, pointing at an area a few miles south of Baxter. "Well... that jet was soon followed by three other jets, all trying to chase the first jet down. At least, until it got away. The official story is that it was a training exercise"

"And since you're telling me this, I have a feeling you doubt that" You say. "So, you think whoever was on that Jet wasn't supposed to be on there" You say. You're already thinking about who could have stolen it.

"Exactly" Kachuusha says. "And I also know that Ordinance is very interested in buying that jet."

"...How exactly do you know all of this?" You ask.

"It's all because of my lovely fans" Kachuusha says. "I get a little bit of info here, a little bit of info there, some people that I know help me check on things, and viola!" She says, pointing a finger in the air. You could swear that there's a sparkle on it before she points her finger at a spot to the east of Baxter. "We know that they're selling the jet right here!"

You look at the map. The location that Kachuusha is pointing to is about 100 or so miles northwest of Baxter, about a 4 hour drive from Hartford and was in the middle of bumfuck nowhere.

Which granted, is where you want to be when selling very large, very stolen, and with a lot of people very willing to get it back.

"And I'm guessing we're going to make sure the deal falls through, right?" You ask

"Ex-actly" Kachuusha says. "There's going to be a lot of people there. All armed. All angry. It's a lot to take on my own, so I was thinking you could be my knight in shining armor, coming in to help me in my time in need"

"Very funny" You say in a deadpan manner. "Still, there's go . How many guys are we talking?"

"Ordinance isn't sending that many people over, but one of them is one of her Lieutenants." Kachuusha says. "All of Ordinance's Lieutenants are Powered and strong. And I don't know who the other guys are bringing. We can't let her get her hands on a fighter jet! No matter what she does with it, it's going to get innocent people killed, and I'm not going to let that happen." As she starts talking, you can see a fire behind Kachuusha's eyes. A determination to see this through to the end. And of course, she wants you to join her. You finally speak up and say...

So that's Kachuusha.
She's uhh, kind of Magical-Girl themed, isn't she...

This sounds a whole lot more like a "call the army so they bomb the area" sort of thing than a vigilante thing.
Granted, but by the time they could verify the information and gather themselves to act upon it the criminals would be in the wind and the deal would be done.

We don't need to ask for her secrets and it would be better to ask about the team up after the operation.

Alright, I'm working on the next update. I just need someone to roll one more IQ roll for Sonya to notice something about the area that this deal is taking place in.

Time and Place
"So, what exactly are we going to be walking into?" You ask. "Doesn't seem to be much in that area" The map you see just has major cities and highways. The area has pretty much nothing near it. No roads, no other cities. Just... nothing.

"I'm glad you asked" Kachuusha says. "We're going to be going to Traveler, Texas. It's a small town, less than a hundred people. It's surrounded by a lot of other small towns, but there probably isn't a Hero or two dozen police officers between them" She says. As for what's around there..." She takes out another map from beneath the state map she had already.

It's a satellite image, probably taken from Google Earth. The area around Traveler is flat, mostly grassy. There's a road that has a few buildings on it. You can't tell what they are, but you guess that they're stores, maybe a police station, or something. The rest of Traveler is made up of single houses with swaths of farmland. But... you notice something. You aren't an expert on farms, you've mostly passed by farms on your way to and from visiting family, but things don't look right. There's too few crops on the amount of land on each property, even if they were practicing crop rotation.

Other than that, you see an electrical substation to the south, several water reservoirs throughout the town, along with what looks like a slurry pit... and a small airfield to the northern tip of the town. Sure, the runway was made of dirt but the hanger was huge and better built than even a lot of the other buildings in the town.

"From what I've been able to tell, there are some small time gun runners and drug distributors. that have been operating out of here for years. They mostly just sell small arms, the occasional weaponized vehicle for aspiring villains. But apparently, they're trying to expand."

"By stealing the aircraft from an Air Force Base" You say. "I guess it's a way to raise capital, but that's risky, and a lot of things could go wrong." In fact, this is a military aircraft. The army should probably be handling this. Hell, even knowing about where this is and not telling them could get them in trouble. Legally, you're pretty sure you aren't required to let the government know about things like this, but it doesn't exactly look good.

"Yeah, but they're doing it anyway." Kachuusha says. Then, she flashes a grin "Or at least, they're trying to. And since this is really risky, they're probably gonna bring as many people as they can to protect the jet, but I don't know how many people they're bringing. Still, there's only about 60 or so people in the town. They can't have that many men." She says. "What I'm worried about is who Ordinance is sending."

"Who is she sending?" You ask.

Kachuusha furrows her brow. For the first time, you can see frustration in her eyes. "We don't know. We know that Ordinance wants to make sure that this sale goes through, but we don't know who she's sending. That's why I wanted to bring you. No matter what people throw at you, you always seem to survive, so I know you'll be able to handle whoever they send. Besides, you managed to fight Artillery and you didn't even take a scratch!"

"I suppose that's true" You say. Granted, that was more luck than anything. A Barrier flaring up to become a Reflect. But still, you've been building yourself into being a Stone Wall. "So, are we bringing anyone else?"

"Of course! We need to get the plane out of there. If only to stash it somewhere for the military to find. I can't teleport something that big. But great news, I just happen to know a former pilot. Have you heard of Morphic?"

You shake your head. You haven't heard of him before. You assume he was a Vigilante, but not one you've ever heard of.

"He has the power to copy substances that he touches. Rock metal, things like that, as long as it's solid. He used to be a Vigilante and more importantly, he knows how to pilot jets. He says he can get the plane to a safe place so it can be picked up later."

You nod. "So, when is this going to happen?" You ask

"In a week Meet me at the Hardford Executive Airport. I'll get you from there"

She looks at you for a few seconds after you shake her hand. "Hey, did we get it?"

"Yeah, we got it!" An unfamiliar voice says. You turn around and see a woman holding a large camera. She gives Kachuusha a thumbs up.

"FUCK!" You shout. "How long have you been there?!"

"Since you came down the ladder. C.A. probably got some footage of you driving, walking or whatevering up. I hope you don't mind" The camera girl says, in a neutral voice. Kachuusha rubs the back of her head, clearly embarrassed.

"Sorry. I get so used to my crew, sometimes I forget some people aren't expecting them to be there." She says, you can see her blushing a little.

You're about to say it's alright, but then you realize that the camera girl was filming. "Wait, were we streaming? Was all of that live?" You ask, worried.

Kachuusha's eyes widen. "What? No!" "Things like that, we upload later! A bonus for Patrons after we're already kicked the bad guy's butts. Sure, we'll start streaming when we're about to attack, but we would never upload something like this."

"Again" The camera girl says in a flat voice.

Kachuusha glares at the camera girl for a few seconds, an annoyed look on her face. But soon, her expression breaks out in a smile and she chuckles slightly. "Right, again. Anyway, there's aweek until we have to get moving, so if you could, please thinking about getting something new to use then. Something that you haven't done before if you can. A new weapon, spell, armor, or maybe even a logo on your shield. Something that can really stand out on camera."

"You know, speaking of cameras, I've been watching your streams and I don't think I've seen them take as much as a stray bullet. I gotta say, that's impressive."

"Thanks" Kachuusha says with a smile. "Though I I'll admit, my crew does a lot of the work on that front"

"Yeah, we edit out the parts where people die and dump the dead camera guys in the lake." The camera girl suddenly says in her same flat tone. When you look at her, she starts to crack a smile.

"R, stop it." Kachuusha says playfully before turning to you. "I don't know what I'd do without them."

"Thing is, I was wondering how you do that." You say. "I mean, they charge into a fight with just a camera and they manage to not get killed. How do you guys manage it?"

"Well, part of it is wardrobe and powers" Kachuusha says, gesturing to herself. "Between the lights and the colors, it helps keep eyes on me and importantly, off if the crew" She says, giving a pose. "But there are a few things I do to make their lives easier. If you want, I can give you a few tricks I use"

"But if you want me to give you a few tips, I can help you out." Kachuusha says.

You're about to accept the offer, when R pulls out her phone and looks at the time. Looking up, she says. "Kachuusha, it's almost 1"

Kachuusha's eyes widen. "Shoot, you're right. Sorry, Vigil. I have a stream tomorrow-"

"Later today" R says.

"-later today and we need to get ready. Breaking up a dog fighting ring in Arcadia. I hope you understand. Remember, Hartford Executive Airport, south gate." She teleports away suddenly and you see a flash underneath a door further down the hall. In a second, she's back and she gives you a card. "Show that to the guard and he'll let you in. Remember, one week. Half past 1800"

Kachuusha grabs R and they both disappear in a flash of light, leaving you alone in the boat.

---------------------------------------
You're riding back to your own neck of the woods later that night. Even when you avoid major roads, you occasionally see cars pass you by. but they ignore you

"So, what do you think of all this?" You ask Jasmine as you ride back home.

"Well, most of what Kachuusha said was legit. A few days ago, a jet went missing from an Air Force Base. The military isn't commenting, and you can barely get any info on it, but rumor is, it was a soldier that stole it"

"Well, if he was, and they know who he is, I assume he won't be a soldier for much longer" You say. "Do you think we might end up fighting them? The person who nabbed the jet, I mean"

"Maybe" Jasmine says. "But depending on what skillset the person had, they might want to keep them away from the deal, if they aren't a fighter or a talker. He might be burned from the military, but he might try and steal something else."

You nod. "True. Though I have a feeling that whoever Ordinance is sending will be the biggest threat there whether the thief is there or not. Do we have any idea who she might be sending?"

There was a pause as Jasmine pulled a window up. "There isn't really much info on Ordinance's inner circle" She says. "A few of them have records, so we know their powers. There's Ballistic who has Telekinesis, Battery can apparently enhance weapons while he's wielding them, Stamper's your basic brute with strength and toughness. But we don't know know how many more people she has, or even if she has any more people."

"So, we need to get ready for anything." You say. You start thinking about how best to prepare.
