You tear off on your motorcycle, heading north into the city. As you get closer, the clouds turn a dark gray. The air becomes colder. You know it's going to rain soon, but there isn't much you can do about that. Soon, you get into the city proper, all the while Jasmine is on the other end, trying to pinpoint the robbery location.
"Shit... Looks like..." Jasmine is quiet for a few seconds and you can hear some distorted chatter on the other end. "Looks like it's the Gold Rush Casino, on the West end of town."
"You know where that is?" You ask.
There's a few seconds if silence before Jasmine gets back on comms. "I do now" Jasmine says. "First off, there's an on-ramp to a highway when you make a left at the next light. Head there."
You ride to the highway as the first drops of rain are coming down.

"So, I just need to do this and you'll keep up your end of the deal?" The voice on the other end of the phone asked. The person sounded young, anxious.
"You will get your money, I assure you" Charles Garrick said over his phone. He was sitting in the back of an SUV. a vehicle that his "benefactor" lent to him as a reward for escaping. Sure, his lawyer must be tearing his hair out, but that was not Charles' problem.
What was his problem was getting the pieces into place. He had two tasks ahead of him. Retrieving the Black Book from wherever it was, and killing The Vigil. Something that this "Contractor" would be able to assist with. He had been negotiating with this contractor as Biss, the man he had escaped with, was driving the vehicle along the highway, headed north to a safehouse. In the back, were boxes of munitions that were "borrowed" from a Cartel operating in a city a few miles south.
"This isn't just about... look, I don't think I can do this. Killing someone?" The voice on the other end of the phone said. She
"I know it's a big decision. It's a big decision and a big reward. $30,000 for one day's work? Talk about a chance. This is when a chance presents itself" Garrack says, paraphrasing an old movie that he saw.. "It's not every day that an opportunity like this presents itself. Sometimes, a person when they see an opportunity, she can't let fear stop her."
There is a pause at the other end of the line, the only thing anyone could hear was the sound of the car driving across the highway and the rain hitting the roof of the vehicle. Garrack leaned back in his chair and let the person on the other end think about it.
"Look, I don't know..." She said. "I need some time to think about it."
"Of course" Charles said. "Take a few days to think it over, call me on this phone with the number I gave you with your answer."
He hung up the phone and shook his head, letting the disappointment seep into his face.
"You think she's gonna go for it?" Biss asked, thoroughly disinterested in the conversation. He watched the other cars on the road as if they could come to life and attack as the first raindrops fell on his windshield.
"No, I don't think so." Charles says. "Personally, if there were more independent contractors with her powerset, I'd hire one of them. As it is, most people are working high paying jobs in logistics, transportation, or whatever else they do" He waves his hand dismissively. "That said, if she does refuse, I do have a backup plan" He said.
"You planning on letting me in on this plan, Ch- Profligate." Biss said, catching himself.
"As soon as I get everything in place, I'll let you know your part in-" Garrick starts, before hears a loud motor getting closer, coming from behind them. Garrick turns his head to look, and sees you, speeding down the highway.
"Was that... was that Vigil?" Biss asks, the SUV already speeding up. "That son of a bitch!" His face turning to a snarl.
Profligate tapped a button on his suit as his armor, once hidden beneath his suit, started to slide into place. "Follow him. We may just be able to finish this today."
------------------------------------------
"Alright, after you take the Interchange, just follow the road you're on. You burn rubber, and you'll be there in about 10 minutes"
You give a short acknowledgement as you speed on, weaving in and out of the lanes. Some cars honk at you. Some because they recognize you. Others because you're weaving through traffic. But you keep going until you take an exit
The Three Points Interchange, or the Mixmaster is where three major highways meet. Four tiers of winding highway roads going in all directions with a massive 10 lane highway running below. It's a pain to navigate if you don't know what you're doing.
You're on one of the loops on the highest tier. Two lanes wide, this loop swings around and will take you west. As you're riding, you glance to your right and see downtown in the distance. It's a few miles away, and your view is starting to be obscured from a fog rolling in, but a part of you wonders if somehow, a Cape is going to come from behind one of those skyscrapers and fly right at you.
So you barely recognize the light behind you before both of your tires explode.
------------------------------------------
Profligate runs a final diagnostic on his armor as the SUV tails The Vigil. They had been keeping a distance, close enough to follow, but far enough away so he couldn't see them.
"If she doesn't fall off the highway, pull over and let me handle him" Profligate says. "You keep going. These supplies need to make it back to base."
"Hold on! He's the bastard who got me locked up! I wanna piece of him!" Biss protests. "Besides, we won't need these things if Vigil's dead!"
"Livewire. You're skilled. I'll grant you." Profligate said. "But remember what happened last time you fought The Vigil? He choked you out. If The Vigil gets close to you, you've already lost unless you can punch in his weight class. And sadly, you aren't." He sent a command to power up the lasers in his arms. "Besides, There are a lot of uses for explosives if we don't use them to take care of The Vigil. I'll take care of him. You get the gear back to base. Is that clear?"
"Ugh. Fine." Biss sight, defeated. "But bring back his shield or helmet or something."
Profligate doesn't say anything. He just rolls down his window and points his pointer and middle fingers at you as if he was making a peace sign. Two yellow lasers shoot out of each finger and slice through your tires like butter.
------------------------------------------
"SHIT!" Your bike goes down as you try to lean the other way to keep from falling over. Left, right, left, right, you try to correct your course as your bike careens towards the service lane and towards the concrete divider keeping vehicles from plummeting off the loop. But you know that trying to stay in your bike is impossible at this point, and you take the chance and leap off. The bike skids ahead and you stop yourself with the divider.
While that would've been bad enough, you see a black SUV out of the corner of your eye, barreling right at you. You barely think about it when you hop the divider, getting out of the way of the speeding SUV while keeping a death grip on the divider. The SUV blows over the spot you were standing just a fraction of a second ago.
"SUNNY! SUNNY ARE YOU ALRIGHT!" Jasmine shouts. Before you can answer, your left hand slips, and for a brief moment, you look down and see just how far up you are. If you fell here, you'd fall around two tiers, around a 100 foot drop, before hitting another loop. And if you survived that, you'd be plowed by a car.
"I- I'm alright." You say. Barely remembering to change to your disguised voice as you pull yourself back over the edge. The SUV stops a few feet ahead and for a split second, you think it was just a bad driver, it wouldn't be the first time you were almost run over. But as the back door opens, you see a familiar set of power armor.
It has some differences from the armor you first fought Profligate in. It's slightly bulkier, the white diamond shaped panels that made up his helmet were colored yellow, giving the impression of a pair of eyes. The SUV speeds off, leaving you and Profligate. You hoist yourself up so you're standing In the service lane, which is just barely wide enough for a compact sedan.
"The Vigil. I see you've moved up in the world since the last time I saw you. You even have a name now!" Profligate says as he steps towards you, having to shout to be heard over a passing car. A shortsword extend from the top of his right wrist. Much shorter than the ones he had before, but much less unwieldy.
"But unfortunately, I was arrested because of you and that archer, so it's time for you to die."
[] "Get out of the way. I don't have time to deal with a spoiled brat like you"
[] "I beat you once, I can beat you again, Profligate!"
[] "Are you crazy? Didn't your mother teach you not to play in traffic?!"
[] "If you don't get out of my way, you aren't making it to jail this time. I'm sending you right to the morgue!"
