"HANDS OFF MY STUFF!" Fighting the Adventurer Menace

[X] 'I need to focus on securing my home before I even think about getting that treasure'

Don't throw good money after bad. Remember the hierarchy of needs, personal safety > all

That's just because you spent most of the several hours learning the theory of Enchanting. You have access to learn more useful enchantments. Provided you find/buy/borrow/steal/loot the right book or scroll.
I wasn't conplaining about how few good enchantments we got.

Frankly learning enchantment and several enchantments in a sitting was far better than I was expecting.

But to increase our level of security by the same amount as the invocation-and-many-traps route, we would have to learn enchanting, learn useful enchantments and then do a whole lot of enchanting.

Given that magic items are not dirt-common and dirt-cheap, there must be some sort of cost and/or rate limit, so we would have to be at it for quite some time to do as much good as we could by setting up traps with a summoned workforce.

This increases the window of time in which we are relatively vulnerable, thus increasing the risks to us.

Had we done invocation and traps then learned enchanting, we would do just as good in terms of enchanting in the long run, but been less vulnerable for less time. It would have been unambiguously better to have gone that route, but the lure of the short-term exciting option proved too strong for the Silent Majority.

In short, I wasn't complaining to you about the mechainics, I was complaining to the Silent Majority for their shortsightedness.

Day 15
Lorena slowly opened her eyes. The world was blurry, a mix of browns, and reds. With an all too bright light from a lantern above her. Her limbs were stiff, even breathing caused a dull pain to shoot up her body.

"What happened...?" She slowly says. She blinks, trying to bring the world into focus.

"Hey, she's awake, get the healer."

"Why don't you get him?"

"Because she was looking for me. I just want to know why."

"Fair enough, I'll get him"

"Not to loud..." Lorena says as she heard a set of footsteps getting further away. She brought a tattooed hand in front of her face to block out the lantern's light. The red, distinct, circular symbols blurred into each other, the ancient script on them looked like large smudges.

"Are you feeling alright?" The person said. Lorena's vision was clearing up slightly, she could see a vaguely human shape, but she couldn't make out any of his (or her though the voice sounded like a man's) features.

"Are you sure I'm not dead?" Lorena said.

The man chuckled. "Not yet. Though the healers said you were... well, you're alive now, that's what matters, though the doctors said that you'll need to stay here a little while longer. Anyway, thanks for getting us out of there"

"There's no need to thank me. Really, there isn't" Lorena says. In the back of her mind, she knew that she only freed them because she needed the money.

Still, at least she managed to do something good.

"Anyway, my name's Taylor. You said you were looking for me?" The man says.

Lorena laughs softly as she looks at the man. "It looks like someone was really worried about you..."

You walk out of your room in the Learning Center. You can practically feel the 750 Gold in your pocket.

As you head to the front entrance, you see Joseph sitting at his desk, helping a group of people who, judging from their clothes, are teaching a dance class. You quickly retrieve your pay and exchange your goodbyes. Soon, you're out the door, ready to take on the rest of the day.

City

[] Silver Shark Weapons Shop: Most of the weapons were sold to the store by adventurers, and most of them are bought by adventurers as well. Has a large, constantly changing stock.
[] Go to the Margery's General Store. It has little bit of everything. Some of it possibly stolen.
[] Go to the Howes Hardware: Store. It has all the parts you need to make some traps.
[] Go to the Sparking Mountain Magic Shop: From spellbooks, runes, to magical devices that anyone can use, this shop has it all.
[] The Hammer and Ales Tavern: You never know what, or who you'll find there. Also a good place to get wasted. Sometimes also has jobs from locals.
- [] Drink.
- [] Look for work.
- [] Listen to local news. See if anyone has taken your job.
[] Exotic Imports: A place that sells exotic animals. Officially, they are meant to just be used as pets but some of them can be... aggressive.
[] Saint de la Salle Learning Center: A place for people to teach and learn. Can be used to train skills. Or to teach if you need some extra money.
[] The White Lily: A place where the rich and connected in society associate with each other. Could be a great place to make friends. Provided you can get in.
[] Find the Workshop. Maybe you could find some work. Or some tips.

I say we get right to learning the Lv.2 Invocation, build a bunch of traps using it, then spend a segment designing new traps, then build a labyrinthly baroque layer of traps that should last at least two separate incursions, and then finally go check on Lorena once she's recovered a bit.

(This is assuming the reason MData didn't include the question about 'if we could learn it successfully at our current skill level' is because the answer was categorically yes.)

I mentioned this a while ago in the text, but the items that can be bought in stores are just the items that Def can use. There are more complicated spellbooks and powerful artifacts that exist in the store in-universe, but Def doesn't have the skill to actually use the skills in them.

Just to finish that Quest, even if it isn't our Quest.
And to meet Taylor to I guess.

I'm all for going to the Tavern, but later... We just finished Early Morning right? If that's so, let's go at some time when people are likely to gather...

At this point they're more likely to come to us so we might as well go home and wait.
