"HANDS OFF MY STUFF!" Fighting the Adventurer Menace

[X] Cure: A minor healing spell. Mostly good for healing cuts, scrapes and bruises.

Always take the basic healing spell if it's an option. Too useful and universally applicable, even to stupid things like "I fumbled my construction roll when setting up traps and caught some knives to the leg".

The Cure
You flip to the pages pages, learning the healing spell that you can find. The book even includes some pages dedicated to human anatomy. It's basic, and mostly deals with the epidermis and the subcontanius layers of the skin. Though considering that you didn't even know what either of those things were called, it's more than you knew before.

The book goes on about treating cuts and bruises and other basic magical medical care. It isn't hard, but you feel yourself losing interest at several points, even reading the same line over and over again because you blanked out. But you keep pushing yourself forward.

"I see her! By the statue!"

"She's on the scaffolding"

"Look, just open the damn door!"

"I-I-I think she's over there!"

Lorena's eyes darted all over the warehouse. By the time she turned to where the captives pointed out, Jasmine was gone. If she was there to begin with.

*Clang*

Lorena turned around and blasted the area behind her. By the time the dust cleared, she saw what she had destroyed.

A crate full of potions.

"Behind you!" A captive yelled. By the time Lorena turned back around, Jasmine was already there. She stabbed Lorena in the chest with a shortsword.

"What was that about me behind dead in ten minutes?" Jasmine mockingly asked as she pulled the blade out. She got ready to plunge it into Lorena's neck, ending her life.

Lorena glared at her opponent before unleashing the all of the magic that she had left into a single blast. The explosion of energy sent Jasmine flying backwards, slamming into the cage hard enough to rattle it before falling to the ground. She struggled to push herself up, but she shortly fell to the ground. Her right arm and leg were useless, and parts of her armor were blasted to the point of uselessness. Her injuries from the battle and from Lorena's final blast were too much. All she could manage was a weak groan and a message.

"You're dead, you hear me?" Her gaze at Lorena was one of pure hate "The Jackals will-"

Suddenly Jasmine's eyes widened. Her mouth opened, but no words came out, only a small trickle of blood. Lorena lowered her staff unsure of what had just happened. "What the..."

Seconds later, Jasmine slumped to the ground, dead. One of the captives still holding the bloody knife as a testament to the deed.

Lorena lets herself smile as she staggers to the cage, stopping briefly to take the keys from Jasmine's belt.

"Well, looks like I was right about you not living in ten minutes. In fact, you died around three minutes early!" Lorena said to her former friend. Through the pain, she managed a smile as she fumbled with the lock.

"Are we... are we really free?"

"I'm going to live! I'm going to live! I can't believe it!"

"Thank you! By Magnus thank you!"

"That looks... I know a healer. Get me out of here and I'll take you to him"

"I can't believe it... are you an adventurer? But I thought that you were... Thank you..."

"Please get us out of here! I've been here for so long!"

"Did my brother send you? Did he make it out?"

"Don't worry, I'm gonna get you out of here." Lorena said. "Everything is gonna be alright" But even as she said this, she could feel her body failing. Adrenaline was wearing off and and pain was setting in. Blackness was starting to crawl on the edged of her vision. The hand that she could still feel was starting to get clammy.

She had to get out of here soon.

*Click*

With one last mighty heave, She swung open the heavy iron door to the cage. Immediately, a now former captive gives her a bear hug.

"Oh bless you! Bless you for doing this!" the woman said.

"I'm looking fora man named Taylor Bludd." She said to the men and women, not even reacting to the hug. Her eyes were unfocused as she looked at the people she helped. "Please tell me he's here"

Then she passes out.

You look at the spot where a cut was just a few seconds before, now healed. There wasn't even a scar in it's place.

"Good... very good," You say as you rub the area. It's still a little sensitive, you the book said that it would go away in a few minutes. But the important thing is that you learned something new.

And you can't wait to learn more.

[] Silver Shark Weapons Shop: Most of the weapons were sold to the store by adventurers, and most of them are bought by adventurers as well. Has a large, constantly changing stock.

[] Go to the Sparking Mountain Magic Shop: From spellbooks, runes, to magical devices that anyone can use, this shop has it all.

[X] Sketch up plans to expand your home. You've always wanted to build a bigger place.
-[X] A kill chamber vestibule just outside of what is currently your front door.

The idea with this is to provide an additional place to put traps before intruders reach the house proper, while also giving us more time to get upstairs and begin dropping soldiers.

-[X] A pit/cave trap in for your escape tunnel.

While more deterrents in the house proper would be nice, getting away clean is probably more important

I think there may have been a miscommunication regarding what this entails.

I was thinking about a much larger expansions. Like turning your house into a large tower, an underground complex, to adding more rooms. Not much to do with expanding the get-away tunnel.

Ah. I'll get planning on that front.

Home Expansion Ideas
-Elaborate Underground base
Pros: lots of twisty passages to put traps in, not immediately obvious from above ground.
Cons: Will take a while to build, needs careful ventilation plans, subject to cave-ins, vulnerable to flooding.

-Above ground fortress
Pros: A strong wall will hopefully keep most invaders at bay, very damage resistant
Cons: Will cause Heat to absolutely skyrocket, very expensive if you want good results

-Tower
Pros: Lots of levels and stairs before the adventurers can get to us.
Cons: Will be immediately obvious from a long ways off, can be toppled with us in it by a sufficiently paranoid adventurer.

So, can I get some people's opinions on these directions we could take our home-improvement project?

@MData For those encounters not involving Def, do you roll to see how they turn out or do you just wing it? Or are they decided before we even get the options to chose to get them?

I wouldn't say I wing it, but I have the basic idea of what may or may not happen beforehand (which could be before or after they are chosen by the players). I add details, events and the like as I write the posts.

I'd rather keep dice and the like in encounters that Def is personally involved in.

Finally being a little less helpless would be bloody grand.
