Currently winning:

Core: ranger
Secondaries: Magic, deception, innate, etiquette and medicine

The vote will still be up for a few days because I'll travel soon.
Note that it is currently counting Ranger and Ranger + votes as the same thing. If you go in and count them as separate votes, Ranger is at 5 (tied with both Improved Spellblade and Spellblade). I expect we'll get at least one vote before it closes, but that's important to note for when you count at the end.

[X][Core] Ranger
An agile fighter, adept at any range. Especially adapted to fight in nature. A shield that leaves the hand free provides added protection.
  • Weapons: Bow, dagger, axe, spear.
  • Armor: Light, Shield
  • Support: Survival, lore, stealth

I noticed that you voted for the stock Ranger despite apparently wanting to use a shield. You may or may not want to adjust that vote.

@Stasis, @tryingtobewitty, @edofthesquid, @djd, I don't mean to be a bother, but could I hear some reasoning for not voting for a shield please? As I said before, there are designs that leave the hand free so as to not inhibit the use of a spear or bow. They're not as protective as other shields obviously, but they're definitely better than no shields at all.

I'm assuming that the provided "classes" have reasons for being what they are. One immediately apparent reason is that adding a shield means training time spent on the shield, which in turn is time not spent on things more useful to a ranger. That doesn't mean Lirra can't add a shield later if it fits what her build ends up being, but I don't consider it worth focusing on right now.

I hope this will go good with riding beasts will go good with Beloved Child of the Forest and Child of the Wyld We can move faster than anyone through the forests and we might take up a unconventional mount.
I notice that you fine people all have voted for Spellblade. Could I interest you in Improved Spellblade, perhaps? It aims to give us the best parts of Spellblade, but with spear and shield instead of swords, as well as better tactical ability.

Here's what Improved Spellblade looks like:
[X][Core] Improved Spellblade
A Spear wielder adept at magic and tactics
  • Weapons: Spear, elemental magic, alteration magic, creation magic
  • Armor: Light, shield
  • Support: Tactics, command, medicine

I say lets build on what we have
And what we have is knowing how to use a shield and a spear
So I would say Commander (I seem ont the only one with this idea)
Also deception was mentioned. If only so Lyra understands that is a thing
[X][Core] Commander
[X][Secondary] Deception
[X][Secondary] Command
[X][Secondary] Innate
[X][Secondary] Tactics
[X][Secondary] Medicine

My thoughts:
Commander as that support the spear and shield, which is what we already have some knowledge in. I think going for a supportive build is good.
Which is also why I went for tactics and Medicine.
Originally went for Lore but switched it for tactics. We can have a mage to whisper us sweet lore notes.
Innate so we know more about using what changeling stuff and Deception as it was mentioned in the suggestion and Lyra does not really know that is a thingu.
I notice that the biggest thing you like about Commander is that it supports our spear and shield build. I was wondering if I could interest you in Improved Spellblade, as that also has both spear and shield. It also has tactics and command, which are both things that I think will be useful for Lirra.

The biggest difference is that Improved Spellblade exchanges many of the weapons for several different categories of magic. I believe that these categories of magic will complement our spear and shield nicely, by allowing us to do interesting things like lighting our spear on fire to do more damage to shades, making our shield harder or more durable for better blocking, and possibly creating weapons or armor from nothing if we find ourselves in a position where we don't have them.

Here's the profile for Improved Spellblade:
[X][Core] Improved Spellblade
A Spear wielder adept at magic and tactics
  • Weapons: Spear, elemental magic, alteration magic, creation magic
  • Armor: Light, shield
  • Support: Tactics, command, medicine

since it doesn't look like Commander'll go anywhere and I dislike spellblade I'll pick the one that is the next interesting one.

[X][Core] Ranger +
[X][Secondary] Innate
[X][Secondary] Magic
[X][Secondary] Medicine
[X][Secondary] Etiquette
[X][Secondary] Deception

A bit disappointed no one interested in Barter, better getting things at a cheaper price instead of crap loots or relying on others.

Most of these skills are important. Barter might even be high on list, because I'm pretty sure loot drops aren't a thing in this quest. And it's more important to Lirra, because she has problems with iron, and most weapons and armor has some iron in them. Or more likely entirely made out of it.

However, we've got a long list of skills that need training, and Barter at least has some echoes in it. A lot of other things are rock bottom, and need attention more.

I'll call the votes tomorrow.

Ranger's still winning, and the secondaries look pretty much the same as before.

Also, now that I actually have access to decent internet and an actual keyboard, the write in option was for another class, not finagling. I won't ignore the votes now because it'd be a dick move, but yeah.

(for exemple)

[ex] War priest
A holy warrior kicking ass and praising names
- Weapons: Mace, poelarm, sword
- Armor: Heavy, shield
- Skills: Theology, etiquette, medicine

Instead of changing things inside. This is what the secondaries were here for.

Oh, well, I'll know better for the final elective classes votes at the end of the next in game month.

Hrrm. Spell blade works off Fae talents, but so would Ranger, especially with Lirra already a significantly able woods-woman by her Changling perks...
[X][Core] Improved Spellblade
...But this just feels cooler in the end.

Actually, for some reason the tally is counting the votes for Ranger and Ranger + as the same thing. Going through the votes by hand, here is a more accurate count:
Ranger:
7

Ranger +:
5

Improved Spellblade:
10

Spellblade:
2

Improved Spellblade is winning by 3 votes.

Here's the people that voted for each ranger class:
Ranger:
Sirapthy, Stasis, djd, Nottheunmaker, tryingtobewitty, edofthesquid, Turbobanana

Ranger +:
Nevill, Gnarker, MRoy, NaanContributor, Zeroth Jupi

If you just want to count the votes for class variants as the same thing, I'd suggest also lumping Improved Spellblade in with Spellblade votes, since Improved Spellblade is to Spellblade what Ranger + is to Ranger. That gives the voters fairly close to what they voted for, and means that you don't have to deal with a write in that is just a variant. That puts us at a tie of:
Ranger:
12

Spellblade:
12

Edit:
If you want you can check that I'm correct by just clicking on any of the names I mentioned in the tally. That should bring you to their most recent vote, which as of this post should be what I list them as.

Dropping in to say that I am fine with my vote counted as if it were a base class... Ranger and Ranger+ are almost identical with the exception of the shield.

...I have no idea how the Secondaries should be counted, though. By plan? By hand? The tally would just lump them together from two different plans. This could potentially lead to, say, a Ranger studying a school of magic from all the Spellblade votes which are a lot more uniform.

Your count seems to be missing Jrin's vote.

I really dislike Spellblade, and the new version is no better. It's far to much magic.

@Sirapthy , @Stasis , @djd , @tryingtobewitty , @edofthesquid @Turbobanana would you please switch your votes to Ranger +, for the sake of a cleaner vote? Ranger + is pretty much the same as Ranger, but with shield training tacked on.

I'd suggest also lumping Improved Spellblade in with Spellblade votes, since Improved Spellblade is to Spellblade what Ranger + is to Ranger.
I wouldn't say that though? Not only do Improved Spellblade and regular Spellblade have different primary weapons and the inclusion of the Shield, but the attached support Skills are different, which affects the Secondaries people voted for. The only difference of Ranger + is tacking on a Shield.

Thanks, I didn't notice that one. New totals (taking into account Nottheunmaker's new vote):

Ranger: 7
Sirapthy, Stasis, djd, tryingtobewitty, edofthesquid, Turbobanana, Jrin

Ranger +: 6
Nevill, Gnarker, MRoy, NaanContributor, Zeroth Jupi, Nottheunmaker

Improved Spellblade: 10

Spellblade: 2

Or:
Ranger: 13
Spellblade: 12

It's an improved version of the Spellblade, just like Ranger + is an improved version of Ranger. Renu previously posted about how they weren't intending for the write in to be about finagling existing options, which I took to include Improved Spellblade as well, since that's what it was intended to be, an improved version of the Spellblade. That's why I included the combined totals, in case Renu wanted to roll everything into the options that weren't modified.
I'm not sure if that's the best way to do things, since there was at least one person that specifically voted Ranger instead of Ranger + because they didn't think the shield was a good idea, so there may be those who only want their vote to go to Ranger + or Improved Spellblade. Still, it's an option in case Renu wants it.

Yeah, as it stands I'll take the general class with the most votes then the variant in it, I guess.
To make sure I'm understanding correctly, that means the combined totals, right? So:

Ranger: 13
Spellblade: 12
?

Edit:
And the winning vote will be the unchanged version, a.k.a. Spellblade or Ranger?
