What I find interesting is what Mari said at the end of the preview.
What's her endgame here?"No matter where you are, I'll search for you, just wait Little Puppy (Shinji)."
What I find interesting is that
that line implies WILLE don't know where Shinji is. After all, if they did, Mari wouldn't need to 'search' for him, she would just go to wherever he is... which, knowing WILLE, would probably be the cell they've thrown him in to make sure he doesn't go for the Apocalypse Trifecta.
But why doesn't Mari or WILLE know where Shinji is? I admit, I'm mostly working off of SFDerbis' recap of 3.0 right now - I've been busy! - but Asuka and Mari were both present when Shinji and Kawrou removed the lances. Asuka was the one who dragged him out of the EVA after all.
So... what gives? Given the state Shinji was in at the end of 3.0, I can't imagine him managing to escape from Asuka and Mari after the credits role. My first thought was that maybe Asuka and Rei have gone AWOL with Shinji, but that doesn't seem like a natural progression from the previous film.
Unless it's meant as more of a metaphorical statement, and Shinji really is virtually comatose, in which case Mari is declaring that she's going to try and bring him back to reality? Though a statement like that feels like it would have more weight from Misato, Asuka or Rei rather than the movie-only character.

And thus, as usual, I am left staring at Evangelion not know what is going on. The more things change.
