What I find interesting is what Mari said at the end of the preview.
"No matter where you are, I'll search for you, just wait Little Puppy (Shinji)."
What's her endgame here?

Why did the Vatican have a military? On top of that, why did they have a positron cannon mounted to an Angelic chassis and a bunch of armless Evas carrying around power supplies? Anno, I guess?

Was the Vatican acting on Fuyutsuki's behalf in trying to stop WILLE from accessing Euro-Nerv? They mentioned his name when the Type 4444A thing showed up, but I didn't pause that line in time to translate it. My French is rusty from 10 years of disuse and I wasn't all that good to begin with. I had to pause the video to have time to translate more than a word or two and even then there was quite a bit I couldn't translate.

That acoustic guitar rendition for Decisive Battle though...

*kisses fingers* Perfect

"Excusez-moi, Eiffel!"

It's more canon that isn't explained on screen like the details of the original 2I and what happened to Tokyo. The Vatican Treaty in Rebuild is a restriction on activating more than three Evangelion units in the same country. A mix of non-proliferation messaging (this being Japan) and "4 Evas = uncontrolled Impact".

Chances are good that it'd get expounded on in the movie that wasn't 3.0 but theoretically happened between 2 and 3, that was teased at the end of 2. Oh well.

So... I've got no clue what's going on but the fight was pretty epic? That's half of Eva in a nutshell, so honestly I'd be lying if I said that my hopes haven't risen a little after skimming through that trailer. :p

For anyone (like me) who wasn't online earlier, the whole event from Japan Expo in Paris was officially livestreamed on LINE and, as of right now at least, can still be watched through their site. The recap of the first three Rebuild films starts at about 52:20 and the preview of 3.0+1.0 starts at about 56:20.

Thought 1: Mari is Shinji's fangirl for whatever reason. Which is a bit weird considering that the only actual interaction they have together is the scene where she parachutes onto the school's roof in 2.0. Hell, Shinji isn't even formally introduced to her at all in the story, outside of hearing her casually mention her name in a phone call he overhears.

Thought 2: Rebuild!Mari is the same person as Manga!Mari and has the Curse of Eva. She cares about Shinji because of some vague attachment to his mother.

Thought 3: Anno won't go into it and Mari will just remain an enigma. An enigma that has a whole buttload of merchandise.

She also talks to him during the battle with Zeuel taking the place of Kaji from the tv series.

Mari's chapter in the manga was just done for fanservice and isn't actually canon, according to Sadamoto

Of course, you're free to ignore it and come up with your own theories regardless, since Mari is a wild card of a character

Idea: At the end of the series, Mari is still her usual cheery self with no real relevance to the plot and the very last line is someone in WILLE saying something along the line of 'Who the fuck was that person?"
