There wasn't a space inbetween the two, so it was "Weapon,Walk" instead of "Weapon, Walk"

I think that's what screwed it up?

    You thumb open the messages from Yomi, leaving Yosuke to his uncertainty as you scan over the text before stopping, going back, and reading more closely as you realize the length.

    Your heart skips a beat at that last message but it's not enough to distract you from the rest of it. The whole thing has an air of having been written piecemeal, rambling back and forth despite the density. She's not wrong though, seeing her like that, seeing Dead Master in her brought with it the urge to lash out, to fight with true intent to hurt, with true intent to kill. To fully test your strength against her.

    You feel sick as you push the memories down, but the smell of cooking meat draws your hunger back out as Yosuke taps your shoulder hesitantly. "Hey uh, right here?"

    You take a deep breath and shove your phone back into your pocket. Leaving the other two threads unread, "Thanks."

    "No problem, serious stuff?"

    You take a deep breath and let it out but words refuse to come. In the end, after a few seconds of silence as Yosuke inches away from you slightly, you give a terse nod. He opens his mouth to reply, then pauses and closes it, his brow furrowing as he visibly restrains himself from saying anything before he nods back. His esteem in your eyes going up a few points.

    He dithers for only a moment before taking two steps past you and pushing the door open, holding it in silent question.

    You hesitate for a minute longer, but in the end, your hunger wins out. You'll need some time to yourself to think about that message and send back an appropriate response but for now food beckons.

    The mood is quiet, everyone more focused on finishing their meals than anything else. The moment you took the first bite you started to really realize just how hungry you are and after that it all became a bit of a blur. Aiya's food is certainly good, but beyond that awareness it's difficult to discern much more. The atmosphere that starts off slightly strained slowly giving way to soft conversation and contented groans. Even Narukami's unflappability gives way to a picture of relaxation as the silver-haired boy slouches slightly, hands clasped and resting on his stomach while Chie and Yosuke lazily try to steal the very last piece of meat from each other.

    With everyone distracted, you take a moment to swipe your phone open again and check the other two messages. Your eyes widening slightly at the header.

    You feel your cheeks colour, though you can't avoid a faint sense of unease. Yuu and Yomi don't really get along, but in all the drama leading up to the move and the excitement since arriving in Inaba, you haven't really thought about what that means without you in the picture. Somehow you thought that maybe they'd just ignore each other? Pretend they don't exist?

    Your thumb hovers over the digital keyboard uncertainly, do you reply? Would it be talking behind Yomi's back if you do?

    What are you even supposed to say to that anyways?

    You lean back against the seat and flick over to the third thread just in time for Narukami to speak up softly. "So… Two days?"

    You jerk in surprise and fumble the device, catching it awkwardly between your thighs and prompting a brief blast of upbeat music before your thumb manages to find the pause button. You stare at Narukami, "uh?"

    "Two days for Daidara-san to make a new sword for you right?" His voice is even and there's no judgement in his grey eyes but you still feel faintly chagrined. You're barely even a part of this group, for all that they've made you feel welcome, given you resources and time… A lot of time, given that there's a kidnapped friend on the line. "I don't know how much further we'll be able to progress, but we can't wait two whole days. We're going back in tomorrow, maybe the day after at the latest. Give some time to properly recover from the fight."

    You shrink into your chair a little, "do you want me to come with you?"

    "You won't have a weapon or anything else to defend yourself."

    "You mean a Persona?"

    He nods, your lips thin in a grimace that you can't quite hide.

    I(We) want to go.

    "Why? Because near death experiences are more fun the closer you get to dying?"

    Because it's the right thing to do.

    "And what would you know about that?"

    There's a moment of profound silence in your mind, an almost painful tension stretching out between you.

    As much as you, which seems to be very little.

    The mental voice disgust as her presence does not so much retreat as turn on its heel to stride back into the recesses of your consciousness, the mental impression of a disgusted huff lingering in your thoughts. You push it away, feeling anger roil under the skin, she just wants to fight more, that's all her kind do after all. You feel an annoyed twitch in the back of your mind, but she doesn't rise to the bait.

    "Why the hell did I say that?"

    "Mato-san?" Narukami's eyes have lost a little of their softness, searching your face sharply as you come back to full awareness of your surroundings. You duck away instinctively, shrinking back from that searching gaze as you realize that the whole table is looking at you now. Chie frowning, Yosuke concerned.

    But, if you read my side bar, you will know I have very, VERY strong feelings on excuses and empty apologizes.

    We want that mock up copy of Shooter's sword? Then we had better be willing to fight and do what's right without it. Mato has a persona and Shooter, even without the sword she's arguably the safest member of this rescue team. Not going is... I don't even have words to describe the emotions that come up with that though, but they are far, far from pleasant.

    I have a feeling that if we don't ask now, we will regret it later.

    There is little reason for Mato not to go. Even unarmed, she is probably the strongest fighter in the group. And even without directly engaging in combat, she can still help - acting as a scout, making sure that new enemies do not catch others by surprise during the fight, or simply distracting the enemy.

    Well, hopefully our persona is a something that doesn't need up to be right up in our enemies faces.

    As opposed to living in the Otherworld for a decade or so? This Yuu is.. she isn't the girl we supposedly grew up with, though there's seemingly a lot of her in her.

    Remember, we're dealing with (more-or-less) pure OVA here. The implications of Yuu in the OVA came off as being malicious if the very end of the OVA with her shadowed form behind the two of them is anything to go by.

    Oh, right. Oops. The anime is not a decent guide here, then; the timelines don't match up, especially with regards to Yuu. The Yuu in the anime was this age at some point, certainly, but that would be while Saya was in middle school...

    I interpreted that scene differently, but it's jealousy again. Both Yuu and Yomi want Mato to themselves...

    Mato being in some different town might be a benefit here. Though I find myself concerned about the noodle incident that sent her here in the first place. Nothing in the OVA would have directly led to this.
