[X] Esoteric Assumption of Responsibility
-[X] Forbidden Card

We'd be stupid not to do this.

[X] Esoteric Assumption of Responsibility
-[X] Forbidden Card

This is the option I feel represents Zane the most

The Image is broken for me.
Here you go, copied and pasted right here.
[ ] Aut Pax, Aut Bellum [12 Ambrosia] - Wager your future once more.

A number of potential and random benefits. All of the below would be rolled for separately.

*A 50% chance to unlock Secret Invocation: "All-Out Brawl."
*A 25% chance to unlock Secret Invocation: "Warrior At The World's End."
*A 10% chance to unlock Secret Invocation: "Fist That Ends The World."
*A 2.5% chance to unlock the Forbidden Card, a specialized form of card that only Zane Li Black can wield at any level of compatibility. Its power is immeasurable; beyond all reason and beyond all madness: virtual omnipotence locked into a rectangular shape.

However, are you sure that putting your fate in the hands of random chance is wise?

WOHW!
I completely forgot about that!
Thanks Man.

Forbidden Card...

Is it forbidden by Olympus because of its stupendous power or because no one else besides Zane has the abillity to use it...

Usually they seem to me unversially competend, so maybe they have a good reason for it to be forbidden.

Greater Powers always demand greater Sacrifice and copared to the other rewards for EAoR it is vastly rarer/more powerfull. Maybe there are longterm consequences to it.

Constantine and Zane are the only ones equipped for this, and this is our last chance to get the card.

Plus, forcing people to give up their Godcards en masse when we have other options leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially when there won't be any chance to replace them.

I also think the flowers shop is something of a lost cause at this point. Even if the Demons don't actively interfere, I doubt Knight responsibilities won't. As the option says, focus on the present.

Who knows, if its power is so unlimited, it might even come with a portable flower shop ;)

Cardless reward mystery box, maximum awesome, and we are not going to set up a flower shop anyway with dragon daddy coming for us...

[X] Unhesitating Martial Advance

How can I vote for anything except the mystery box? It's a mystery box!
Well-reasoned arguments, that's how.

The vote's all but decided, yet the way it's gone is something of a shame. It seems as though people are voting with primarily power-driven OOC considerations in mind. There's nothing wrong with that, EAR's neat, but I wanted to take the opportunity to lay out a case against it:

Assuming Responsibility retreads the same path Daniel took at the end of Mask to become the Auditor, one of escalation to address cosmic ills. But Daniel and Zane are different protagonists; the former needed little perusasion to sign on to fight for humanity. He was rootless, with no family ties and a backstory filled with lies, which turned out to be intimately tied to the cosmology at the highest level. Pulling a Cincinnatus and retiring to go farm didn't fit who or what he was.

Zane's just a guy. He started with no Godcard, only an aptitude for punching and a desire to have fewer gangs in his life. While never reluctant to accept power needed to protect his friends and avoid entanglement, it isn't intrinsic to his character. EAR is a refutation of his trajectory throughout the quest. He didn't leap right into the vigilante lifestyle after taking down the Zuchezzis, gave Phobos and the Boreads to his friends, refused Mephistopheles' offer, opted to ride out the gang war in the Wardens' safehouse, bailed on Olympus as soon as possible, and so on. The mystery box is shiny, of course, and EAR promises power beyond all reason if Zane is victorious.

Yet it also entails signing up for an eternity of dealing with other people's shit; if not giving up on his dreams, then kicking them down Zane's list of priorities. Do we even know for sure that it maximizes his odds of victory over the forces of Hell, relative to the other options? He'll have to refuse direct aid, which has been crucial to most of his victories so far. Zane saved Johnny's ass from the Mangler's jaws, yes, but the converse is also true. And speaking from a non-strategic standpoint, do we as players want a final arc that features less camaraderie? Banter with Spike and Brick, development of Zane's budding relationship with Helene and bond with Shen? Those have been some of my favorite scenes so far.

All points well-made, I'll let this vote stew for a while longer in hopes that people would like to discuss this.

[X] Unhesitating Martial Advance

You know what.Orms right
I have a sinking feeling that whatever the Card represents besides its mindblowing power is gonna be widereaching in its consequences.

Zane doesnt need even more Problems that would be potentially greater than Hell.
He already is a Knight and Squire destined to make a difference in the Universe without the Card.

So whoever wants to be Patron to Zane can stand in line while he opens a Flowershop and pays The Lotus Maiden back First.
