The monks haven't even jumped Ronin Shinchiro yet despite you know, having been invaded by an army of the guy, then came out specifically to kill a surviving copy and then had to fight a Nothing Infused version of him.

I think these monks have better self control and sense than you give them credit for. Now will they make life difficult for us in the future? Oh yes, but they won't do it where they can be burned to death by the Elemental Master of Fire.
 
But we wouldn't deceive them, just not mention anything at this time and fashion.

And it is not like Soule doesn't understand the need for this. Remember that he still have not told anyone about what really happened in the cavern.

Sosuke not saying anything will lead to Akio lying on our behalf, since he is clearly willing to do it. So sure that won't damage our honor, but it would damage his honor once the truth does come out. That is something that I do not see Sosuke doing just because he wants to hide.

The Cavern was one thing. This is on an entirely different scale and context.

Not so pretentious as claiming it was all us, takes the responsibility off of the Master of Fire, and implies that it was a Fortune working through us (true!) rather than suggesting that we're a reincarnation (maybe?). People who carry major blessings from the ancestors are a thing in Rokugan (if not usually quite so impressively) and it will almost certianly add to our story, but won't catapult us to "instant rockstar" in the same way. Also, is completely honest. We *were* blessed by Yakamo, and it *does* hurt.
 
Isn't that writein even worse? Sosuke had no idea about the Yakomo connection and before the fight only acknowledged the fire as something he could do. So we got two scenarios, either he remembers Nisshoku screaming about him being Yakomo's reincarnation and he will be lying to them about it being just a blessing, on top of relying on the words of a servant of the Shadow dragon that the power actually comes from Yakomo in some way. Or he does not remember that part and pulls the Yakomo blessing thing out of his ass and is thus (to his knowledge) lying.

Right this moment he vaguely recalls Yakamo's name being used in relation to himself, but a combination muddled memories and a truly impressive amount of pain is keeping him from recalling all the details. If Sosuke has some time to really think and meditate on the issue he can remember things more clearly, but at this point in time he does recall Hida Yakamo's name being mentioned and connected with him.
