[x] Return to the Inn and timeskip to morning departure.
"Seems the day is about finished," you say, standing up. "But it is your decision. What shall we do next?"
"I believe it would be best to retire for now," Shirou responds, getting up as well. "After all, the journey must continue come morning."
"Thank you both for your visit," the old Isawa calls as you both make your way to the door. "We'll have to meet again some day and exchange stories."
"I look forward to such a day," you respond, bowing to him. "A good evening to you, Isawa-san."
The streets are remarkably clearer now that evening has come on. Most people have concluded their business and have returned to their homes. Even commerce must conclude with the setting of the sun, just like so much else within the Emerald Empire. Such is just the natural order of things.
By providence, you see both Yasuki Goro and Shasa walking back toward the inn as you arrive. Your superior is smiling widely, while Shasa seems to just be staring at him in silent amazement. She looks a little wearied, as well. A little odd considering she should have just been standing by Yasuki Goro's side all day, but you don't know what went on during their trip.
"Greetings, Yasuki-sama," you say as you approach. "From your expression, might I assume everything went well?"
"It did indeed," the courtier responds. "We'll have everything we need delivered to our wagon by morning." His smile widens. "There will be no lack of supplies for us on the way to Dragon Lands, and a good ways beyond."
"My congratulations at your success, my Lord," you say back. "With this, no doubt the rest of our journey will go quite smoothly."
"So one would hope," Yasuki Goro responds before putting a hand over his mouth to cover a yawn. "For now, though, I think I will get an early night." He nods to you. "I will see you in the morning, Sosuke-san."
With that, your superior walks inside. Shasa stares after him a moment, and then shakes her head. You see a grin on her face, though. And, to your slight surprise, a little sweat atop her brow.
"Is everything all right, Shasa-san?" you ask.
"I am fine," your comrade answers. "Simply a little taken aback by the day. Observing Yasuki-sama was… enlightening." She takes a deep breath. "A tad exhausting as well. I think I will follow our superior's example and get some early sleep."
"I believe we are all of a similar mind there," you respond. "A good evening to you, Shasa-san."
"And to you, Sosuke-san."
You make your way to your room, carefully removing your armor and setting it atop the stand set in the room. Your weapons go on a rack set in the wall close to your bed. Influence from the Lion, no doubt, to always have their arms close. It is something you can appreciate.
Your gear properly taken care of, you disrobe and lay yourself down beneath the sheets. The ambient noise of the city still lingers a little as night goers go about for recreation and other business, but for the most part your surroundings are silent. In the coolness of the summer evening, you find it easy to relax and let yourself ease away from the day's burdens.
Soon enough, you are fast asleep.

You see the man, Kohsa, standing over the bodies of his children with utter despair still etched upon his face. His hands are covered in blood, and it drips to the ground within the dark place you find yourself in. Kohsa kneels down and reaches out to cup his son's face with one hand, and his daughter's with another. Somehow the blood on his hands does not stain his children's pale, lifeless faces.
The sob that tears its way through his lips doesn't seem like something that should come from a human throat. It is animalistic and rough, echoing strangely in this place. He weeps openly, his grief so strong that his whole body shakes. There is no decorum here, no stoicism you would expect from a proper Samurai. There is only utter, terrible sadness.
"How much more," he whispers to the shadows, head still bowed over the corpses of his son and daughter. "How much more must be done till they return to me?"
"Just a little more now, Kohsa-sama," speak the children in unison as they come out from the gloom to approach the despondent father. There are six now, twice the number as before, and they have the same, unnatural smile. "You have done so well. Just a little more blood, and everything you wish for shall be yours."

You awake with a small start, still expecting to be in that dark place. Could it have been a cave? You're not entirely certain, and your memory is hazy in the way that all dreams are upon waking. You definitely remember that there are more children speaking to Kohsa now.
You've not thought about the man in weeks, but now all your concerns seem to rush back to you. Those children… There is something not right about them. But as you reach full awakening, you find more details slipping away. But their speaking in unison, and their smiles… Those two things stand out clearly in your mind.
The light from the window tells you that it is early morning. A new day has dawned, and now your journey will continue. The Dragon Lands await.
