Ghosts of the Ancestors. (A Cultivation Riot Quest).

[X] The young, the lifeful, the Qi.
[X] Condense Qi in Guang Li Dantian. Cost 1 Qi per time taken [0/50]. Advance to QC 1 Mid.

Torn between this and wisdom, but I think I'll have more fun with this.
EDIT: Sweet, above average. Now we should be at net -1 Qi, and 42/50 to QC 1 Mid.

Fellowship 34/25. COMPLETED!

Condensing Qi 42/50. CLOSE

And Guang is going to roll to cultivate as well, probably 1d10 unless cultivation 2 starts applying immediately, in which case it would become 2d10 (+ potentially a minor stat bonus, but we might very well have none).

Currently recommended actions for new players, by category:

IF YOU WANT TO BE A "QI" PLAYER

[ ] The young, the lifeful, the Qi.

at least one more vote for "Condense Qi".

[ ] Condense Qi in Guang Li Dantian. Cost 1 Qi per time taken [0/50]. Advance to QC 1 Mid.

more "Gather Qi" votes (we're currently at 9 out of 20 max reserves, we don't URGENTLY need more but it can always come in handy)

[ ] Gather Qi [0/3]. Gain 1 Qi. (every 3 points of progress here give 1 point of Qi).

DO NOT TAKE CLEAR MERIDIANS, IT SUCKS TOO MUCH QI FOR TOO LITTLE GAIN.

Body Refinement is currently suboptimal. you CAN take one if you really want to, but condense Qi gives better returns in the short term. It would be better considered to round off stats as needed, OR after we finish the preparatory action in WISDOM category.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A "WISDOM" PLAYER

[ ] The old, the infirm, the wise.

We're at rank 2 for Fellowship and Combat skills. We're PROBABLY better off going for other skills rather than trying for rank 3 on those, but it's not THAT big of a deal if you just want to add more points to them.

We got the Sect Test intel, so that's unnecessary as well.

the remaining low hanging fruit is probably cultivation skill, which nobody started training yet I think.

-[ ] Cultivation. [0/25]. Raise the cultivation skill to 2.

beside that, there's no urgent priority. It would be fine to start working on other preparatory actions, I suppose.

[ ] Map Guang Li body [0/100]. Reduced progress needed to refine the body.

[ ] Map Guang Li spiritual roots. [0/50]. Unlock actions and gain knowledge.

[ ] Scout the meridian blockages [0/50]. Reduce the DC needed to clear meridians.

-[ ] Knowledge of alchemy [0/50]. Unlock Alchemy actions.

-[ ] Knowledge of refining [0/50]. Unlock refining actions.

-[ ] Knowledge Of Qi [0/100]. Unlock advanced Qi actions.

[ ] Refine the bloodlust. [0/100]. Unlock more wrath options.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A "WRATH" PLAYER

[ ] The broken, the sorrow, the wrath.

...well, there's only two actions in this category.

[ ] Screams of death- nothing more than restless ghosts wailing of their death, diffuse and weak, it is nonetheless the best way for the ancestor ghosts to directly attack their enemies. The result depends on the final roll.

[ ] Restless anger- infuse the anger of your demise into Guang Li body and soul and let him push beyond his limits at a cost. [0/10] +1 to all of Guang actions this turn per completion of this action. -1 Hp per time taken.
Screams of Death is currently useless, as we're not fighting. It might be a good pick during the tournament though.

As for Restless anger... it costs HP, and the benefit is fairly low. This skill would become better as Guang gains more dice, really, and could be particularly useful during breaktrough attempts to rank up.

Right now you might just be better of voting for something in another category, even if you'd only roll a single d6 instead of 2.

For incoming wrath players:

[ ] Refine the bloodlust. [0/100]. Unlock more wrath options.

It is a good option if you want to get more options in the long term.

[X] The broken, the sorrow, the wrath.
[X] Scout the meridian blockages [0/50]. Reduce the DC needed to clear meridians.
Fair warning, your chosen specialty only rolls two dice for wrath options. Scout the meridians is a Wis option, and so you'd only roll one dice for that.

Refine the bloodlust is a Wis option (research), not Wrath.

[X] The old, the infirm, the wise.
[X] Teach Guang Li.
-[X] Cultivation. [0/25]. Raise the cultivation skill to 2.

That's not a wrath option, so you rolled one to many dice.
I had meant to pick the option for wisdom, not wrath, but I was a bit careless when picking the right option to vote for.

To fix this, then I will just change to the right option, if there is not an issue with that.

No issue, mistakes happen.

And on that note, I'm going to keep the vote going to keep the vote going until I return form work tomorrow, it seems people are still trickling in and I won't be able to write until then anyways.

It's weird that you have to be stuck as a wisdom player if you wanna expand the wrath options.
yeah.

next turn wisdom players might want to focus on the refine bloodlust option, so the wrath players will have something more productive to do.

Right now we have
15 qi
14 wisdom
7 wrath

players.

36 players. few going for wrath, for fairly understandable reasons. that said give it a couple turns and wrath players will probably have better stuff to do. In the meantime they can try to push the refine bloodlust or try to add the odd die where it's the most needed.

Yes, but it is the wis option that gives more wrath options, so if people want to be a wrath guy and don't want to lose us any more hp it's a solid option

How do you figure? On average Guang Li generates 5 (rolling d10s) progress per skill. So +1 cultivation skill should be ~5 turns to pay the 25 progress off.
You're right, I got confused because we roll d6.

I also want to take a moment to appreciate how screwed Guang Li would be without summoning us, considering the challenge is based on 30 ghosts. Matching that with 9 of his actions wouldn't go well

When he said he was talentless he ment it, it took him like three months to just open his first meridian (and be able to cultivate).

Also, this is the notice that the vote would close in 3~ hours.

we're seeing it right already. A SINGLE Ghost technically can cultivate better than him (2d6 vs 1d10) right now, if it wasn't for us it would take him...

5.5 progress on average, let's assume he goes for cultivation training first.

5 actions to cultivation 2.

10 actions to qi gathering 1-mid

and then also another 3 actions to recover that Qi.

that's 20 actions, basically 7 months, to rank up ONCE and train ONE skill.

Vote is now closed; I'll go over and gather everything all the actions later (if someone wants to do a final tally before I get to it I'm willing to offer +5 progress to any action bar of your choice) in the meantime I will roll for Guang Li.

Our initial elder distribution is 15 Qi, 14 Wis, and 7 Warth.

This leads to the following attribute distribution for Gunag Li.

Strength- 8 (-1)

Dexterity- 10 (0)

Constitution- 15 (+2)

Wisdom- 13 (+1)

Intelligence- 12 (+1)

Perception-13 (+1)

His rolls for today are (all gain +1 from wrath which I've included).

1. Cultivation+ wis (1d10+2) for condensing Qi.

2. grunt work: no roll. just base 1 + pure con (+3).

3. fellowship challenge to increase outer sect opinion during grunt work (1d10-1*).

4. train combat, no roll, base 1 + pure int (+3**)

5. fellowship challenge to gain contact, sparring partner. (1d10-1).

*Being angry and harnessing that anger is (surprise, surprise) not helpful when trying to make friends so the bonus gained form the restless anger action inverse to a penalty for fellowship rolls (except those where anger can be helpful).

**conversely, being angry is really good toward explosive and violent ends, so for every action that falls within that category (like training combat) the bonus is doubled (and if it really fits triples).

Now to roll.

Edit: well thats funny.

@uri We've lost 3 health and 1 Qi (though I think you said we heal 2 health per turn, so we might be at -1 from our total), so we're at 9/20 Qi. With Guang's actions we're at 53/50 for condensing so we've reached stage 1 mid?

Please put it in Refine bloodlust to reach 17/100. We want to get that if not next turn then at least the turn after before the sect test.

Looking at those numbers, depending on the sect test we should coordinate to reach late in qi, and probably complete scout meridians so we can start stacking that multiplier.
