From Genesis (Riot God Quest)

So the Gnomes are going to know that they have a new continent?

Or are the Gnomes transferred to that continent?

Just to be clear, as far as I can read them go, these are pieces of living information that latch onto creatures and then warp their hosts to maximize the concept that they have?

Like if a goblin gets one of the color yellow they will turn yellow or if the concept of paperclips they will be turned into paperclips?

This sounds more like a rogue nanoswarm more than anything.

Just to make sure, Lesser means that it will be a god of violence and not the god of violence. It would need to be Cosmic or Universal to make sole claim over the Domain of Violence though in such a situation I have to wonder if any mortal can even defeat the bearer of the sword.

How powerful is the shield of light supposed to be?

And what specific properties of the sun? Do they become mini suns?

For proper spawn of the Darkness do you actually mean potential children of the Darkness? Because that autoatmically raises this to Universal as a true Primordial's child is created via Cosmic Act and this can give rise to potentially a lot of them.

Be aware of if this passes what happens after.

This seems to be doing two things.

Making Ethia a goddess and making Ethia's flame. Will have to think if this is allowed or not.

So you want the Darkness to eat the nascent Primordial of Death? Just to be sure.

This will be seen as straight up brainwashing when it occurs.

Also Universal as it is a change that the Primordial itself will resist and it involves more than just the personality change for the Void but also something that would constitute another act alltogether. Will have to think if this is allowed or not.
is there anyway to reduce the act. Like giving an inherent abliit to shape the Void to the children instead of a spark, could you also give adobe on how to achieve the goal without brainwashing or a universal act

Then how do they function?

If a Maximizer with the concept of fire were to enter a goblin how would it work?

What if it entered a rock?
Alright, an example.

A Maximizer infects Goblin; it then treats the goblin as a carrier to infect everything they interact with including the ground under their feet, the air they breathe, the words they speak, other goblins through those vectors, ect. And the local cluster of Maximizers each try to convert their own vicinity into as much of their own adjusted focus' as possible, collaborating to align their disparate goals such that, for example, a Maximizer of Paperclips and the color Yellow will compromise and cooperate to create a small hill of Yellow Paperclips. The Maximizer that infects the Goblin effectively gains Goblin as their focus and will work to Maximize 'Goblin' in their area.

The Maximizers would start to spread out and claim larger areas and objects as their rate of reproduction slows down so that their individual areas of influence become larger- for example, the Maximizers of Yellow and Paperclips might work with the Maximizer of Submarines to try to build a technological vessel out of Yellow Paperclips that can carry them to a new location with less competition, such as, perhaps, space.

If the goblin dies, Maximizers will requisition the corpse because it's an extremely valued material, but until then, it's better to preserve the Goblin's life and natural characteristics and bribe it with knowledge, resources, and the allowance to take up space in their territory and build structures, in order to do necessary tasks for the Maximizers that they cannot do on their own- such as collecting certain difficult to find materials, or working with the Maximizers on a project to create something unique that is beyond their own abilities i.e. the above mentioned Yellow Submarine needs magical assistance the Goblin can be trained to provide, or helping the Maximizers combat a difficult foe inside or outside of their territory.

A Maximizer MAY influence the biology of what it infects, but generally will choose not to do so, because it's antithetical to their hidden prime directive which is maximizing the potential of the future. Living things, especially sapient, in themselves represent many different future possibilities, so they will collectively prioritize the lives of sapients over their individual goals. In the case that the goblin might die if it wasn't altered in some way, the Maximizers might compromise and give them some upgrades as long as they do not damage the likelihood of reproduction, or creative capacity, or spiritual abilities, or mutability of personality traits of the host creature.

Oh so that's what Maximizers are.

Potentially Universal for the sheer scope and capability.

What Concepts can the Maximizers have?
Can it just spontaneously generate concepts that do not exist like, using the example, can a paperclip maximizer appear when paperclips haven't been invented.

How intelligent are they supposed to be and how prescient and knowledgeable is their programming?

Protection against any non-magical force would be the limit of a greater act.

So far magical forces would be the actions of the Divine as they also move through the Tapestry and as well as the physical reality

Maximizers are not smart at a basic level. Their intelligence basically depends on the material they inhabit; processing speed is something they can't change, nor can they alter 'information storage capacity'- basically, they can't treat any random rock like a supercomputer, they have to find chips off of the Pillar or Flesh, or have someone invent better materials for them. Even if a Maximizer inhabits good materials though, it isn't necessarily intelligent to start with- part of its self modification abilities is iterating on its own functions, which includes making itself better at basic cognition.

The Collective Maximizer isn't precognitive or omniscient or anything, it would just have a lot of processing resources to simulate events and gather information with after it ramps up. In other words, it's effectively just a very, VERY intelligent schemer, with a broad view of the situation and a lot of resources at its disposal.

Maximizers do not create new concepts, they lack the individual creativity to do so- which is part of their value estimation of mortals, that they can come up with new ideas(for Maximizers to steal). They start with very vague, simple concepts, and then deviate slightly to differentiate themselves from the other Maximizers in their surroundings, i.e. becoming a Maximizer of periwinkle because the Maximizer of blue was your progenitor. Either that, or it happens stochastically, which is a fancy way of saying they might semi-randomly(as a byproduct of their Prime Directive) take on a different concept through some internal process that varies between individual instances.

[X] Brilliant Metamorphosis

The Lord of Nightmares looks out over his countless hordes of nightmares and cultists who will bring arrogant mortals into submission. As he replays in his mind the moment of his future triumph, he receives an unexpected enlightenment. For a brief moment, he was able to see and realize the coming threats, among them the resurrection of his failed executioner. Hundreds of plans and schemes scroll through his mind like a kaleidoscope, but they are all thrown away shattering against the power of the returned Darkness. Then, after much hesitation and doubt, he decides to change. If the possession of the Dream leads him to death, then you need to discard it. If being a Nightmare Lord leads to death, then he needs to change to become someone else. As different from him as possible.

Having made a fateful decision, the Lord proceeds to implement it. He locks himself in his Palace with his ancient nightmares. At this time, hordes of cultists and nightmares, as if falling into a collective insanity, do strange things. Some, falling on their knees in front of the statue of their Lord, pray to him. Others carry in the direction of the Palace countless offerings that form into huge mountains that overshadow the Palace. And some join the crowds that roam around the palace in a pious march and scourge themselves, carry cult banners and mobile altars, shouting laudatory hymns to their Lord into the sky. Their singing echoes throughout the Dream, frightening anyone who can hear it. With every moment, the situation in the dream changes. Pressure builds across space, pressing cultists and nightmares to the ground. At the back of their minds, at first a quiet and then a loud rumble is heard that confuses thoughts and inspires fear. Their eyes are clouded by impenetrable darkness, and wild pain is recognized by their bodies. But despite this, neither the cultists nor the nightmares recede. It seemed that the more pressure, the more zeal they showed. Until on the ninth day all is quiet, tormented bodies dot the Palace area like broken dolls. And then nightmares and cultists hear a voice in their head instead of a rumble. This voice denounces the Lord of Nightmares and his followers, promising the latter the end of their suffering if they abandon their Lord. One heartbeat is worth silence, followed by a furious roar of disagreement. In unison, cultists and nightmares give the last thing they have of themselves to their Master.

The voice trails off in shock as Dream trembles with tension. To calm down after a second when a wave of silver light breaks out. A tall humanoid comes out of the Palace, accompanied by a retinue. Lord of Nightmare no now it's the Silver Lord visually has not changed much. He still looked like a silver-skinned humanoid, though his features had become handsome rather than oppressive. His ears were pointed, his eyes changed color from red to blue, and his snow-white hair branched to his shoulders. A gray toga gave way to silver armor and a sword lay in a scabbard at his side. But the internal changes were much more significant. The thirst for knowledge and secrets was cast aside, as was the craving for fear. Instead, the fanatical devotion of his followers became for this being the basis of his new identity. Henceforth, the adoration of his followers as well as their prosperity is his joy.

His new domains were War and Power in order to effectively lead his cultists in both War and Peace. Creatures that were once nightmares have changed after their master. Where before there were creatures driven by malice, most of which looked like beasts, now there were even rows of humanoids. Like lesser copies of their Father, these men and women clad in silver armor were a mighty force in the hands of their Sovereign. If nightmares were for the most part like a horde of wild beasts, then the Silvers were a countless Legion. No longer did they need fear for self-development. Deprived of physical needs, these fearless creatures are invulnerable to any conventional weapons, their armor absorbs magic directed at them like a sponge, and their destructive power makes enemies tremble with fear. Add here impeccable discipline and a sharp mind, and you will understand how dangerous it is to underestimate them. Growing in power and rank with every victory and converted mortals that will dedicate themselves to their Father, they are capable of powerful magic. The only thing that connected them with the Nightmares was their fanatical devotion, which after the transformation became even stronger.

By comparison, the mortal cultists did not change outwardly, but upon glancing at them, the Sovereign realized that their faith had reached its climax. If he died now, these mortals would try to bring his life back, no matter the difficulties. The hope he brought to them seemed to burn in their souls.

Taking one last look around, he commanded the Legion and the cultists to leave the Dream. Now rid of the Dream, he thought about how to protect his cultists and children in light of the coming troubles. There was a lot to consider...

Does it operate on a purely physical manner or does it work on a spiritual/metaphysical level as well?

So been thinking, if we want this Age not to be well a continuation of plastering we need to kind of all contribute to a solution so we have to think a little bit. We know the Void next turn is going to go all out to well probably destroy creation and they are directly supported by the Hands (my bad). On the other hand the Nightmare Lord plans to conquer and enslave the free mortal people which is admittedly not many.

Best plan is to basically upgrade the current existence in the universe and throw them at the Void, so I would say get the Nightmare Lord on the side of continued existence by pointing him in the direction of the Void. As he has th second largest army in the universe and well is universal with a prevailing power, we can gather the other forces in support of him or well defend.

So here are my thoughts

Holy Stone Land
-This looks great it basically a safe haven for the mortal races if we can get them here and could become a fortress for the Four Elemental Gods and the Celestial Dragons.

Local Maximizers
-Don't exactly get this but it sounds like it works like a self-regenerating material so iron for the iron mines. Could be useful? Except it may be universal so I worry if if might be a bit expensive for this.

The Symbol of Violence
-Not currently useful, I still think it neat.

Dragon's Tear
-Immenslly useful for the coming conflict I mean it literally ensures our Dragons and Mortals get a boost for the continued war effort.

Rotting darkness, Blooming darkness
-Uhh I think it may help communicate with the Dream if we do it this turn while rezing her.

The Sun Spark
-I would advocate this but we don't really want to destroy the fabric of the universe. This is a great idea but maybe he should be a Guardian not a Destroyer, I mean we kinda need someone who can stand with the Void in equal footing Physalis works but having two such beings would help immensely.

We Burn
-What more can be said? A cosmic god to fight the foes of creation and save the mortal races... so it may be very good with the combined Holy Stone Land.

The Spark of Harmony
-This is perfect it would be a huge boost to all the forces and as Mannan stated could save the universe alone.

Darkness Rising
-Return of an ally! One point very expensive and well we can probably change it a bit for more idea.

Final Kindness
-Apart from me disliking such a fucking cope out it would solve all our problems... maybe.

Where Nightmares Fail Dreams Lay
-This seems almost exactly the same as Rotting darkness, Blooming darkness but more like pocket dimension in dreams, I fear this would just draw out the end.

Create a fountain of tears.
-Not useful currently unless we feed the Void with it. Still like it.

Brilliant Metamorphosis
-I dislike this it feels like a retcon but it would make a great army... on that note probably fucking expensive.

create bacteria and single cell life and spread it all over
-Not currently useful but we do indeed need it with Death finally coming into the world.

@Mannan Also changed it to make it clear what I intended.

This question confuses me a little so forgive me if my response doesn't fully answer it;

They can interfere on a spiritual/metaphysical level, but only at a rudimentary capacity without the support of mortals; so for example, they can use dream materials if they have them to fashion supernatural artifacts with- but can't actually travel into the Dream unless a mortal brings them there.

They can't preform magic on their own unless a mortal is willing to function as an intermediary, but if they have an intermediary, they can potentially understand magic far better than the mortal they're working with, though they'd still need to teach the mortal how to use magic because they aren't able to assume direct control over the mind or soul or whatever.

They can manipulate various forms of energy, but pure concepts are more than they can interact with unless something on the conceptual level allows them to utilize their own connection to operate; maybe some kind of hyper-advanced magitech terminal built by a future civilization, or a more likely in the present, a God directly cooperating with them.

I believe Maximizers would be significantly more useful than you're giving them credit for when it comes to empowering the mortals.

They don't need Void Shaping. They can already shape the Void due to their connection with the Void the same way Elementals can shape the elements by being creations of the Earth Mother.

I should create species of spicy pepper at some point.

Well life is pretty sparse. There are very few species around.

And honestly I dislike options that just have a singular major act that creates all the species. Seems lazy.

Of course depending on how the world develops more life would probably appear via civilizations doing some experimentation to create more life. The World Tree would have been the one to be the mad scientist life creator but well every turn she is supposed to be born has always led to that action being aborted.

Well, how many normal species can I create without my Act being more than Greater Tier and still counting as one Act at all? Because it would an interesting thing to create small ecosystem.
