Forging The Chaos Dwarfs

The Dark Lands - Fauna & Flora
The Dark Lands are largely thought to be a vision of hell, blasted landscapes inhabiated only by elemental spirits and the truely insane. But life, as the great sages say, finds a way - no doubt aided by the warping winds that blow so strongly. The creatures and animals found within the Dark Lands are often unique, adapted soley to survive the fiery environment - although survival comes at a cost, for most cannot survive if transported elsewhere, at least not without magical support support.

Monsters & Beasts

Great Taurus

Sacred Taurus

A purely artificial breed, Sacred Taurus are some of the largest, most impressive specimens of their kind. They are created through the attention of Fleshcrafter upon a pregnant Great Taurus, who nearly universally die birthing their transformed child. The Taurus is raised like a pampered pet, fed upon fresh blood and flesh of uncorrupted slaves, and sleeping upon velvet cushions. Their fur is combs and horns polished daily, and they are given ample space to stretch their wings, and plenty of (crippled) prey to state their bloodlust. With all this attention and wealth devoted to them, many outsiders are shocked to learn the Priesthood raises these beasts as lambs to slaughter. Although the sacrifice is done in Hashut's name, as is good and proper, there are material advantages. The Taurus' supple skin is used to make fine parchment, it's blood is used to anoint priests, and the rest - such as the entrails, the wings, and the horns - are used as powerful reagents.

Minatare Taurus
Another breed of Taurus, although this time bred over long centuries, these stunted creatures can range from the size of a dog to no larger than a bloated rat. Their wings are undeveloped, too weak to even allow for gliding, and their natural body-heat is tempered to merely sweltering, instead of scalding. They are kept as pets by Dawi Zharr nobility, who delight in watching them torment unlucky slaves or unwelcomed guests, while the most magically resonate are taken as familiars by low-level Daemonsmiths.

Fleshists and Jade
Fleshists and Jade

You should be worried if you saw Karazar the Mean going in your direction, especially if you are a daemon-smith. But this time, the Black Artificer have more important things to do than dealing with beardling daemon-smiths. She was walking towards more distant reaches of the Darklands. To the territory of those who want to be as far from the Dawi Zhar Industry as possible.

She soon ended up in front of the facility of the de facto prominent leader of those Dawi Zhar. Two guards encased in black iron stood in front of the gate. She could feel that there were faint vestiges of life and soul in them, which is more than expected from flesh golem constructs. She could feel someone looking at her from the eyes of those golems, because soon after, in an almost soundless way, the gates of the fortress/Research facility of Fleshcrafters started to open.

She went through them, not hearing the sound of gears turning when opening the gate. She already presumed why there was no sound. "Fleshist." She darkly murmured while walking deeper into the facility.

Two people soon greeted her. One of them is young male Dawi Zhar, but what is noticeable about him is his armour which looks...unusual. They don't have metal armour like usual Dawi Zhar but one made of bone and chitin. It would still be mistaken for metal armour because of its metallic sheen but it is visible that its texture is not smooth, but more rough. But what is visible is muscle-like material between parts of that armour. Karazar felt disdain welling up inside when she looked at that 'armour', so she immediately looked at the second...person.

That "person" is a beastman wearing good-quality armour. He is a Ram Beastman with clean white fur and grey ram-horns are smooth and sharp with metal details melded into them. On his side is a high-quality sword. She normally would not be surprised by Beastman's slave but what surprised her was that beastman wears high-quality armour that doesn't look like it is melded into his body and dark runes are not etched into his skin. She is confident he is male.

The young Dawi Zhar bowed to her, his armour smoothly moving with him. "Welcome Black Artificer Karazar the Mean. I believe you came to Fortress of Flesh for your every decade examination."

Karazar only nodded slightly while still keeping an eye on the clean beastman. "Yes, beardling. Where is Skoggathra?"

"Master is in the middle of her research. She informed us that when you came, we would bring you to her." Beardling immediately responded to her question without missing a beat. She nodded at that.

"Then proceed."

After hearing her response, both young Dawi Zhar and the armoured Beastman turned around and started walking, she following behind them. They moved through several rooms, in them she saw many apprentice fleshcrafters working on some kind of creature or doing notes on different parts of the monsters. She even saw one of them autopsying a rock troll, at least doing that in a secured room and the beardling in question is wearing some kind of suit that looks like it has a slimy texture.

Soon after they entered a different part of a facility, In here she saw many glass containers that had creatures of flesh inside them. They are submerged in greenish liquid with many fleshcrafters looking over their condition. She concluded that is Production Facility. One serious minus of fleshcrafting is that it takes time to get results, especially when growing them. If making weapons, vehicles and armour took a long time because of Dawi Zhar's want for quality, producing flesh golems took longer for them to grow properly, and flesh golems are one of the basic flesh constructs that young fleshcrafter can create. Let's not even mention the cost of resources.

Next, they entered the chamber slightly similar to the previous one, but the containers were smaller and the things inside them too. What she saw was multiple types of limbs of many races, from human arms to troll ears or skin. When she looked around, she saw no greenskin limbs.

"Beardling." The young Dawi Zhar looked at her when she spoke. "Where are the limbs of greenskin?"

"Master believes that it is a waste of resources to try to replace limbs of greenskin, the cost doesn't pay back for results." Beardling spoke without missing a bit.

She nodded. She could understand why Skoggatra would not mess up with Orcs. The failure of Black Orcs was a lesson that everyone needed to learn.

They soon entered the research room of this facility/fortress. The room looked like a fusion of stone, metal, flesh and bone. But not in a chaotic way in which followers of Changer, Plague Grandfather or Dark Prince would leave. No, it is a more orderly look, with bones surrounding the collums, flesh and bone hands holding many glass cylinders filled with green liquid and having pieces of flesh inside them growing.

Karazak looked at the only Dawi Zhar in the room. Skoggathra Jadefury wears similar and at the same different armour than the young beardling. It looked like she was wearing scale armour which was built from organic material, and high quality one, with flashes of jade visible between them. From her back grew four flesh arms ending with clawed hands. She looked at the main thing in the room, a cylinder full of jade-green liquid, with a small bundle of flesh inside. When Karazak came closer, she slowly recognised that this bundle of flesh looked like...a baby. But not a normal baby, for it looked like a Beastman baby!

"What is that Jadefury?!" Karazak cursed herself inside that she could not stop herself from shouting, which scared Beardling but she ignored him. Skoggathra looked up and turned around to her, and she saw her eyes glowing in Jade colour. The colour she recognised and now smelled out.

'Ghyran' She thought when she felt a touch of the Wind of Jade in the room. It now explains many things about Skoggathra. She will need to inform the Conclave about that. Wind of Jade is rare within Dawi Zhar Society because of their want of fire, metal, destruction and death. Even within fleshcrafters, someone using Wind of Jade is rare, it explains why even older than her fleshcrafters respected her, for she holds something they can't.

"Welcome Karazak the Mean in my laboratory. I was just finishing my examination." Jade glow dimmed from Skogga's eyes, with flesh hands folding on her back. She started walking towards Black Artificer.

"And what I am doing right now is making sure that the baby is in good health during its development." She pointed at that beastman child inside the tube.

"How long were you doing that? Is that your first success? Will they be loyal?" Karazak asked quickly, she did not want the creation of another sub-race that could endanger them again.

"For a while. No. and yes." She then pointed at the armoured beastman. "For Xem is my first success. I took care of him from birth, making sure he is loyal to me, Dawi Zhar and Hashut."

"And I thank you for that Mistress." A deep voice came from beas- Xem's mouth. It was not a garish tongue of beastmen or their dark tongue.

Karazak will have a field day when explaining all of that to the rest of the conclave.

Fortress of Flesh: This small but very defensible complex is positioned near the Plains of Bones, which gives fleshcrafters plenty of material to work with, from more standard bones of animals to even great bones of ancient beasts, but of course harvesting them is limited. Fortress of Flesh is the only place where Fleshcrafters won't feel disdain of their kin. The fortress is like their own Hold even if small given only a few hundred years ago it was established and is further expanded to the present day. This vast complex has many research departments where Fleshcrafters expand their lore and learn about any creature they can find. Additionally, given Dawi Zhar location doesn't give a large amount of food production, fleshcrafters often create animals that can live in the Darklands even if it is a long procedure to create viable animals.

Beastmen of Jadefury: That sub-race of beastmen were created by Skaggotha Jadefury. So far her first success was Xem the First Son (don't question his title) he is loyal to her and would work as the patriarch of a new sub-race of beastmen that is loyal to Dawi Zhar and Hashut. Many theorize that she got the idea from seeing many beastmen turning their worship towards Hashut and not one of the Four main Chaos Gods. Other points towards Voznirra the Bull who could be mistaken for Beastmen if you don't know where to look. Either way, let's hope this new slave race, won't blow in our faces like Black Orc one.

Note: I was working on that for a while, I stopped for a break and now fixed some stuff. Yeah, the name of race is not the best but I tried my best. and I didn't have idea for a name.

The Nature of Writting New
You know, let go with another idea:

The nature of Writting.

It make seen little but the material in which you record your achivement, history and other necesity become a great concern of dawi zhar after the separation, being a pratical race they decide to do the only way they could: by pragmatistm.

Color clay: one thing that diference Dawi zharr from their brethen is that while they belive in quality, they dont belive all their work should be equally valuable, the chaft must be pair with chaft and therefore thing or lesser importance most be record in something that can be crush later. Sense the clay tablets, this convinations is alchemical recepit made long ago but it can make a especial formation of clay that is moldable enought to write with ease and hard enought to resist the vaguery of the dark land, most of the stuff written there are tax record, report of battle and stuff that can be easly store but not sacred in nature. diferent soil compotion result in diferent color and some of them have being use: red for battle report, black for tax and so own, given the saying "Black words for slave, red for war"

Paper is rare, given the scored nature of the dark lands, so skin is usually grab for whatever is necesary: goblin and hobogoblin is cheap and is sell everywhere to low discount(a hobogoblin complaing will be skin off near later so usually their rabble irrelevant), next to human, Ogre can be expensive and a pain to do, beastman skin is never such for is dean unclean and therefore the only thing worth with is fed to the oven...alive if better. The best kind how ever is their sacred bull, which is skin off and use for their banner with latter made of blood and consagrate to hashut.

Finally there is stone and metal were dawi zhar excell as always, the temples are written with all sort of stuff, from prayer to hashut, to previous priest, to insult against each other, the dwarven roads between the city are impecable and have stone monoliths with direction and threat to all who try to come and wealthy dawi zharr create statues of their exalted ancestors(and if they can, destroy of their enemies, inconoclasmic being a thing between then). As for metal the most sacred is black metal with rune of fire, something use exclusive by hashut priest, it said each priest most do a test to the god in fromt of their sacred plaque, from branding slaves to use magic.
