Yeah, but this..... This is either them throwing in their theatre reserve of troops, or they're really stepping up conversions.
Remember, they do have more worlds than just earth. We have no idea what the range on those portals are, so they could easily be calling for reinforcements from other planets they've already enslaved. That's potentially tens of billions of troops, on the lower estimate.
They have Reserves.

Edit: Also, Advent are manufactured, not converted.

You know what you should make once you have human DNA sampled?
And then you put in an order to Xcom for armor and guns. Offer to pay in gold or something.

Best thing about ultralisks: I'm pretty sure the game actually lowballs how big they are. This should be amusing for the SI to discover.

Defilers for plague, Lurkers to utterly decimate their ground troops, Infesters to keep them from getting too far away.

Might be worth it to look into an old-style Queen, maybe parasite a few of them for good intel.

Also, yes to ultralisks. All my yes. :D

Btw, are you ever going to go away from the Standard Zerg palette and make some new original units? Like maybe a biological chemical laser. Cause biological lasers are a real thing.

That if he knows that he could do that and find a creature to Zergify that has biological lasers.

Give him enough biochemistry knowledge worth several PhD's then he should be able to do it easily(yeah the development stage will require a few thousand evolution pits and probably cause an small implosion )...But as he doesn't have it yeah... he needs a creature that can actuallly do it. Zerg are pretty good at adapting and using known concepts to reach something else, combine them and do it better than most other species, but straight innovation? Takes more time for zerg than anyone else.

...They are? Got any links to articles on that? Cuz that sounds really interesting.
Human cell becomes living laser : Nature News
It will be decades before it ever be any where near weaponisable, let alone even consider such but the concept is there.
Not to mention chemical lasers can be replicated through biological process. Just replace most of the mechanical process with biological equivalents and work your way from there in upping their strength and power.

Ooh, shiny. Thank you.

Gatekeepers have a laser attack.

And they're biological. Mostly.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Gatekeepers are actually more likely to be useful to you as a source of psionic essence in the short term. Longer term they're massively outdone by the Ethereals and Avatars, but I kinda doubt that ADVENT will want to throw an Elder to the slaughter when they have reserves.

As an aside, I still find it hilarious that ADVENT is trying to out do the Zerg at their own game.

Yes, but BETA heavy lasers are capable of shooting down aerospace craft over one hundred kilometers away, at one time successfully providing ground support from over twenty-six thousand kilometers away. Even if consuming gatekeepers can give the swarm laser attacks, I doubt they'd have that kind of range.

You know, bringing up the discussion of Zerg and Tyranids from earlier in the thread. I'm honestly not sure which would actually give Warhammer less of a hard time. It's basically asking them to choose how they want to die, crushed under uncountable numbers or slaughtered by what are basically the cockroaches of the universe if they were given aspirations of conquest.

Zerg is kinda worse since they have the power to eat rock and use it to shit out more Zerg
while the Nid just dump goop on the planet and then suck out everything through a giant bio-straw before leaving.

@Generic_Generica Hah, awesome story here bro! Not often we see a organic-ish Alien SI that doesn't go in the way of porn.

No seriously, you can count on one hand the amount of fics that play straight to the whole alien eldritich abomination thing instead of degrading it into sexy human-like alien queens and shit.

Also, mind telling me how far along is the plot for XCOM 2 is? Are [REDACTED] already a thing? Because now is the perfect time for XCOM and Le Resistance! to carry out Operation [REDACTED].

Because the last mission will be
a hell lot easier if there isn't a constant stream of mooks getting in the way of XCOM trying to horribly murder the Avatars. Dont'cha think?

Also fuck having the Councillor dying damnit. We already lost Shen, Bradford gotten old, Vahlen is still MIA and fuck XCOM 2 is already personal with having Shen fucking dead and seeing the Councilor die was just salt in the wound you know?

Unless answering that question is also a spoiler for you fic? In that case never mind then, I'll just eagerly anticipate more.
