Video Games and the digital world
When one of our digital friends get involved in game sessions, it seems that things go off the rails so to speak. The AI gets smarter, units, ESPECIALLY hero/special units will act on their own sometimes, and triggers sometimes become guidelines leading to games often turning out in unexpected ways, best shown in strategy and management games due to their nature. Starcraft 2 especially stands out, as Raynor, despite only supposing to show up in certain missions will show up in pretty much all of them, alongside the other campaign hero units depending on the mission, combined with some enemy units moving to better positions, and overall acting smarter, such as the mission two bunker of death getting reinforced by the starting tank in brutal, making the mission far tougher due to both of the nasty units, which also have synergy being at around the same place. Though there also seems to be some boons your group gets access to that normally isn't accessible, which might be drawing from something that hasn't been released yet, most notably is the medics being able to heal mechanical units and Swann getting himself the means to build laser drills after using one in the campaign.
The Tropico series gets really 'interesting' as the advisors get active, and the others figure out ways to help or hinder the various groups, and while things are at least somewhat constrained by the mechanics like they all are, it still doesn't stop things from getting really 'INTERESTING' due to both the faction politics and the standard foreign interest in the island, which gets worse when doing campaign missions.
The Majesty Series especially has been found to really be affected, as each unit in the game already operates exclusively on their own terms, and the general affect really stands out as a result, with the units showing some personality which can be helpful, but also can be a big problem and in general makes things quite a bit more complicated, especially since relationships can break down spectacularly.
Though some games, like the Creeper world series doesn't really impact the AI much, which makes sense since the buildings, and the flood-like creep aren't exactly things that seem like they would be affected, and the Hitman Games aren't affected that much, besides having enemies smarter in combat and more wary, and grouping up more when bodies start being found to try and avoid being picked off, alongside the possibility of individuals going off script even though that isn't common.
A general theme though seems to be that the game mechanics very much still apply, like bunch of rifles taking out a capital ship is still very possible as that is just how things work. Though, there are certainly unique challenges that could surface in the games, especially since mods likely wouldn't cause major problems, which can lead to some interesting possibilities. Though, I wonder if there may be some interesting side affects that may happen considering we are not exactly sure what is going on when these things are done.
A/N: Done this as kind of thinking on how the digital denizens interacting games might affect things. Very much drawing from what we see from AVG Minecraft, and especially the WOG here of game mechanics and stuff staying relevant over stuff like lore. Though I had a bit where I decided to throw the possibility of pulling some bits from connected stuff, considering Raynor in the soon to be released CO-OP mode got medics that heal everything, and Swann gets himself a drill. Though whenever or not Raynor gets himself his tricked out bike from the original StarCraft is iffy, though is something he totally would get if he could, even as he argues over Swan over their usefulness( also why Raynor gets them in Co-op, despite them not really fitting a role, and Swann getting the hellion, that has a slow but sturdy combat mode). Tropico, well, the series embraced the crazy which I feel would probably allow them to somewhat stress-test what is possible in the system, with the campaigns giving more room to muck around, and/or more factions thanks to the mission events.
As far as how to spend the points...
I am unsure whenever I want to throw 50 into guns, 50 into spirits, 50 into insurgent or strategy, 50 into games. Or just throw them all into strategy, or split between guns and strategy, to lessen the load from my omake points...
