Fledgling Deity Quest

Specifically, my understanding is thus: a group of human kids and Alternian kids(Trolls) end up playing a reality-warping game(SBURB) set in a (somewhat) Retcon proof place called The Medium, courtesy of Paradox Space deleting divergent timelines
So, there's actually some interesting evidence that implies that this is not the natural state of time travel in the setting. Specifically, the Alpha Timeline was created by Lord English to facilitate his rise to power, with the natural state of affairs being more akin to Undertale where choices branch timelines and contribute to the larger meta-you with all their wisdom and experience combined.
Also, the Genesis Frog/Bilious Slick is probably connected to the Old Ones and Slann in some fashion. Because it's supposed to be the patron of all amphibians and all. I think it was supposed to be the universe somehow?
Skaia is a method for ensuring the reproduction of universes. Each session of SBURB/SGRUB/Whatever is an attempt to bring about a new universe, which is, indeed a frog. CROOOOAAAAK.
From what I can tell, while super-nasty in Homestuck, being able to destroy universes is decidedly mid-tier in this 'verse, as a full Infinity Gauntlet without the baggage of, say, Thanos screwing with your ability to actually use the thing is perhaps mid-tier in the Super Space-Time War. By which I mean, in 40K terms, a Primarch's trusted lieutenant. I mean, people in the Undertale multiverse destroy universes all the time, even if they usually don't have the kind of combat power it would imply, unlike Lord English. If you want to be high-tier destroy an entire multiverse like Error.
LE's primary threat is less his physical capacity for destruction and more his iron fisted grip on time itself.
Additionally, humanity being a billion years old is liable to throw all kinds of wrenches into things by simple virtue of the conceptual weight it grants, even if predating Doc Scratch has no effect. That is, after all, why Undertale SOULs with their assorted powers are a thing, and we all know how DT reacts to timetravel right? The Paradox Space timeline cutting is... off-kilter here. It technically applied at one point, but space and time have gotten so screwed up that the main universe is more akin to Deadpool than a healthy body.
Technically, Scratch predates the universe, since he was from the Trolls frog and their session spawned earth's. Also, as mentioned, timeline snipping was more LE's thing, so if this takes place "after" that whole timeloop clusterfuck, it might not even be trying.

@ilbgar123, I didn't actually read Homestuck to the end. I wouldn't call it cool, but rather dank. I got maybe 5000 pages in and I kinda lost interest (or lost position). Halfway already, all the stuff that attracted me were no longer relevant. I personally didn't like the trolls because it felt like Chapter 1 all over again when all I cared about was the Main 4's adventure. Worse, when they came out, the whole adventure was now being occupied wholly by characters I really didn't care about.

I liked it near the beginning more than near the end. The beginning introduced rather unique and interesting ideas such as the inventory system and the machines and SBURB itself.

Video game centered around Siege Warfare?(In-universe Speculation)(+500000 Faith)
Video game centered around Siege Warfare?
Siege Warfare is an interesting aspect in history. Especially in the time before the prevalence of gunpowder where castles and walled cities proved to be insanely tough to breach. Castles especially weren't usually built to last indefinitely, for there is no practical way to maintain the stores of vital resources such as food. but they didn't need to, because as long as the defenders can call on sufficient reinforcements, then the attackers would be forced to either try and break through the defenses, or to give up and retreat. And Castles are usually designed to be really good at enabling the defenders to resist sometimes ludicrous amounts of enemy forces. And even with the significant advances, thee is still a place for a fortress, just, less ubiquitous and more recent doctrines prefer to just go around and let rear elements deal with the problem, for good reason. Because in spite of all of the advances in tech, and more importantly the gulf between offensive and defensive capabilities, a well fortified location is still a nightmare to try and take on directly.

Sieges usually come end due to lack of resources/will, reinforcements reliving he defenders, or a successful gambit. And well, there are many ways people have tried to break through tough fortifications, ranging from tunneling underground to destabilize walls, spies to sabotage key parts of the defense, and simply building great siege weapons to try and breach the walls. And naturally the defenders act to try and counter those operations for various means. Castles and fortresses are developed with the express purposes of being major force multipliers for the garrison, which enables a much smaller force to contest, and possibly even fend off vastly superior forces for far longer than they otherwise could. The romans, masters of engineering for the age, were able to leverage that skill to aid in dealing with enemy fortifications, and even then, The fortress of Masada in Israel held for three whole years, as the Romans needed to build a MOUNTAIN SIZED SIEGE RAMP to have any chance of actually taking the mountain fortress. Even when the canons started appearing with the power to break down stone walls, the concept didn't go away. They simply found ways to make a new fortress, using angles and slopes to handle the sheer firepower, and geometry to design it in such a way to ensure any attacking foe will find it quite painful.

Making a game revolving around sieges would be best if they are to be treated with the respect they deserve. Because the defensive advantage in a prepared field, ESPECIALLY if it is both well designed and in a great location, would make then a massive undertaking. The sheer advantage would mean very major number advantages would be needed to have any chance of successfully storming it. In fact, it is probably best to make a game fully focused on defending a fortress from a siege. Possibly with the difficulty being less simply easy/medium/hard, and more having it be more by the size of fortress, the design of fortress, and the perceived importance of it.

A/N: All points to siege (or administration if no unlocking domains through omakes).

I wonder if Miko's parents have noticed changes that Leto has made?

No. Some of it is them being busy and Miko being generally better off, so they aren't inclined to question it. Also, Miko is, with some prodding, keeping the weirder stuff to herself. She's bad at lying with outright mistruths, but just not bringing it up is a lot easier.

Huh. As in, the 'Bad Future' Sanses, Horror, Dust, Killer, Insanity, Error and his derivatives, would be considered a singular entity with Classic in that system then? Since they are technically just him under bad circumstances, unlike, say, Underfell, which is explicitly a different universe, even if it was like Undertale at one point in some versions. Though I suppose those versions could be included. Then there's the more general variations such as Post-Pacifist runs, Endertale, Growthspurt, and so on. Since more versions of Sans retain memories between Resets, or at least some details, he'd probably get more out of than the others, excepting perhaps Frisk/Chara, though their behavior in most bad timelines is fairly generic, so maybe not.

Hm, well, most multiverses either have it as a wholly natural process brought about by sufficient FUN value divergence(more than a hundred points in either direction is outright a different universe, as explained in UnderPlayer) or something that can be done pretty casually by putting pen to paper, or both, so perhaps in this 'verse Skaia is attempting to learn how it's done in other multiverses so it doesn't have to worry about creating another Lord English? Time is screwed up enough that the Alpha Timeline involving the main universe being created by another universe, which was itself spawned in a chain going back to a universe created by the main universe leading to Skaia's attempt to avoid creating another Lord English to directly cause his creation in the first place, is entirely plausible, and what I've read of Homestuck points to that not being all that big of a Mindscrew by it's usual standards.

I can't go into it too deep for Spoiler reasons, but Cosmic Retcons are a thing that happens in-universe all the time. It's why the various Creation Myths of the Yugioh series don't conflict despite logically doing so. Ie, the Numeron Code/Dragon and Gentle Darkness/Light of Destruction both created the universe, and yet neither did, because of the existential equivalent of time paradoxes.

I don't think English is equipped to deal with the level of time screwery that goes on elsewhere in the multiverse. Undertale in particular. When you can just will yourself to not-die, that starts superseding... almost everything. I'm not saying he couldn't beat Frisk in a fistfight(quite the opposite) but his time powers are, as you suggested, much less iron when dealing with entities not originally part of the Alpha Timeline, such as literally every crossover character. Again, can't go very deep into the Cosmic Retcons, but there is a reason for all these crossovers. Basically, his plans aren't as ironclad here, and so, neither are Scratch's.

Gonna put some words about Homestuck, that bleh. This is from memory so I might get quite a bit wrong. Homestuck is confusing even if you remember the whole thing clearly.
I think the Homestuck Epilogues are some of the worst bits of the entire thing, and retroactively ruin it all. Just glimpsing at the summaries was more than enough. At a guess, Hussie was kind of tired of writing the thing, wanted to get it out and also troll everyone at the same time. Also some controversy where he more or less screwed over the team he had put together to make the adventure game, by repeatedly missing deadlines, and also blaming them for it. Or something like that. At least from what I recall of that. Given the epilogues themselves? It's not hard to believe that it was the case.

Anyways, SBURB itself is a self-fulfilling paradox parasite universe creator mess, and it could be argued that every Homestuck universe is a computer program in and of itself; offhand that actually fits more than I thought it would. Especially as there's a programming language in-verse, that literally lets you change reality, and one of the characters, believing it was a fake thing did a stupid bit of code. I think it was like 'run on universe end'? That was something built with it, not sure if it was the same thing. But the relevant bit was 'make everyone and everyone they know have a bad end'. And is probably part of why the Troll timeline went to crap. Well, pretty much all of it until the 'literally break out of the timeline enforcement artifact' got brought out.

But that's getting into other stuff. Essentially a SBURB/SGRUB/whatever session has one of the players clone themselves, and their guardians (parents/grandparents whatever. Trolls it's their ancestors.), and send them back into time. So they literally are the only people that have the chance of winning. And would only exist because of it. The end goal/reward is 'create your own universe'. And there's a complicated timeloop shenanigans that I don't recall offhand. And the whole 'scratch' thing which is "we fucked up, this is the only way to have a chance of winning redo". And it swaps which set of clones are the players.

I think it was Troll (pre-scratch) timeline -> Troll (post-Scratch) timeline -> Human (pre-scratch/the first one we even see) Timeline -> Post-scratch human Timeline

And there's the chat messages from the Troll group, after they 'won', to the human timeline. And the post-scratch human timeline gets the alien that becomes Lord English and his sister. I believe before it those two start up their equivalent game. If I recall correctly, Lord English ends up starting a solo session, so it's... after he offs her. Solo sessions are also the hardest to even win, and it's a whole different type of game.

But one of the things is that he takes the name 'Lord English' based off a post-scratch timeline human. 'Stealing' the name. Which he had when he infected the pre-scratch Troll timeline.

So yeah, the whole thing is a huge timeloop, there's multiple instances of paradoxes of something having no origin because of time travel shenanigans. Where future versions of characters say it to past versions, because the past characters said it to them in the first place.

And straight up ignoring the epilogue stuff because just no.

Then there's the whole Heroic/Just death thing, where doing the 'god quest' thing means you can't die unless your death is 'Heroic' or 'Just'. Which I don't think would even work too well with the quest system as it is. I guess it's just a highly specialized Essence Domain effect. And probably can be completely bypassed as well. Though I think even in Homestuck canon it was worked around.

All in all, I don't think it'd even be possible for a SBURB session to get started in this quests verse. Outside of being something like a literal video game, that doesn't effect reality at all. With the end/victory being a 'new game plus' mode that lets you set up a new RNG verse for the next run. And considering that it'd probably be AIs going through this? Where they're actual people? The fact that a SBURB session starts an apocalypse that kills off everyone except the players, assuming that isn't LE messing things up (considering other aspects... I don't think that's the case). It'd be highly unethical to even create. Even if it was an 'acting' situation, where after their role is done they just do whatever, somewhere else.

And even so, there's probably better settings available if something like that was put into the questverse. That doesn't have Homestuck baggage. With the 'create a virtual world just to watch them suffer/control them', which I can only presume would be the reason anyone would create something even remotely like that. And it'd only be one of the evil companies doing it.
As an offshoot from that, of evil/malicious/greedy companies doing some various plots something else came to mind. Specifically this one movie I saw on the syfy channel years ago, possibly before the name change they had, that was in the vein of The Matrix. Sort of. And is actually something that I could see one of the factions actually trying to pull off (but not actually succeeding, or even close to doing so); I wish I could remember the name of it. Or the names of any of the characters or actors. Which would help tracking it down. Ah well, time to go off of memory Essentially it was 'everyone is in virtual reality without knowing it'. Except unlike the Matrix it was more of an augmented reality. Everyone was still walking around in reality.
The main character notices weird things, like a 'vacation post card' that is identical to people who previously left years ago. Same location, same picture. They just retired/left the company. I think it even had the same phrasing. Also in the middle of the night, it's suddenly 'day', and strange vehicles and people are moving around. Just overall general suspicion.

Which is when he finds out from a 'freedom fighter' force that's trying to break people out of the system, but there's all kinds of disasters preventing them from managing it right then. But everything seems a bit more bleak than the 'reality'. I forget the exact specifics of why.

Then he realizes/finds out that it's just another layer to the fake reality. And it's just... mundane. Stuff like the television? It's just a cardboard box. The Augmented Reality just beams the 'reality' to peoples brains.

He and the female lead end up finding where the signal is coming from that's letting people see the fake reality. Not the main part, just the local substation or w/e. A grunt, that's just there to make sure things run smoothly. The whole setup was to have people be happy despite resource shortages, so everything could be made of cheap materials. And everyone just sort of forgot. At least I think that was the case. The 'save everyone' layer was just to give the people who realized the first layer was fake something to do/be happy about. And not look deeper.

Main character ends up smashing/destroying the station, taking it down. Except they find out that it doesn't really end up stopping the effect at all. Where people have apparently been under it for so long they perpetuate it. Though I think it's specifically stated that there's a whole location 'west', or some other specific cardinal direction, of there where there's 'nothing' built there. At all. It ends on them walking towards where nothing is built, after figuring that not even what they 'knew' about the direction the sun sets was true.

A bit more thought on that, and it's actually a bit terrifyingly possible. I mean, there's the 'digital trip' thing that was in Watchdogs, so theoretically something like that might be possible. Just a bit more tweaking. If that's even close to something that is a plan one of our opponents is trying to enact, wow is this a strange way of stumbling on the 'this might be what they're doing'.

Late-game Homestuck is awful to the tastes. The early-game had very interesting ideas. I'm just pretending that everything later doesn't exist, excising them from my omake-verse, picking only the parts I like about Homestuck. That also means I can be more original with it.

@ForwardRewind, that second spoiler is quite trippy. I like it. It reminds me a bit of Baba is You, but just because of a fanfic idea I had for it.

The thing about convuluted timeline of homestuck t is that THEY ARE consitent rule of time travel and it was not even Broken and when the rule seem to have been broken it always have good reason why the rule was bypassed and how it was not breaking the consistent rule in the first place and it rule never contradic each other in fact one rule of Homestuck i know is that you cant travel back in time and change the past without ensuring that you WILL Change the past or for more simple answer you need to make a Stable timeloop that ensure that you will go to past (hence why lord engilsh summoning seem to be a unstoppable event because when he summoned to a universe at the end of time he send thing into past that ensure him being summoned to the universe IN Question hell even his Name IS a Stable time loop)

I'm going to respectfully take that explanation and hide it in my drawer where I will not find it again because I find it offensive to the senses. It's makes sense, but that's the sense of dread I'm getting. I'm going to pretend that some bigger problem had already taken care of this big problem so we don't have to worry about it.

A thought though, what would happen if we crossover Skylanders into the pile?

There are other former 'on the same playing field as capital G God' being around. Maybe one of them took offense to Lorde English? I can think of at least one who is really, really against You Can't Fight Fate.

Probably in the /$)^=$@>[*+! rather than this dimension.

...I guess one question I kind of have is if there might be multiple 'big Gs', considering the Bayonetta version would smash ALL of the too much order buttons...

What domains we need to purchase in order to acquire the "Police" domain? With the Raccoon City being a very big issue, i want to see the police put up a decent fight and not being commanded by that corrupted Police Chief.

A Guide To Domains 1(Canon)(+500000 Faith)
Omake: A Guide to Domains

As I'm sure you and every other Puella is aware we now have a god on our side. Yes, a literal divine god. With domains, blessings, and the works. No, he is not the god from the Bible. Or really any established religion on Earth.

He is a new god and his name is Leto. He draws power from faith to grow. At the same time he gives out boons based on the domains he acquires. These domains are gained through use of faith energy. It may be more complicated than that, but this is the simplified version.

Now some of you might be having a crisis of faith right now. Having either chosen or been raised to follow a religion. Now you see the results of literal divine blessings on your peers. Ones that not only didn't come from your god, but not from any established religion. It's fine. It was going to happen sooner or later. No one is forcing you to give up your old beliefs. Even if pragmatism tells you to convert.

Anyway of to the purpose of this. As you all know the Guidebook is intended to help out magical girls. Particularly the newbies who just got started. The information includes information on witches and familiars. Advised tactics to deal with types of foes. Patrol routes for the usual area. And so on.

Now however with the sweeping changes in our community the Guide too is changing. We have decided to provide information on Leto. The following is a list of known domains and their effects. This covers the kind of boons you can get for following him.

Note: Leto is a being that is constantly growing and improving. More followers means more faith. Translating to faster growth and expansion. The information here may be out of date by the time you receive it. With that in mind you can ask either the High Priests or Kyubey for information.

Now on to the meat of the matter.

Followers: Not sure exactly how this one works. Apparently it is supposed to boost the abilities of those who worship Leto. Interviews show that some girls have noticed a sudden increase in productivity. Likewise blessings and abilities around the board seem to be mildly improved. Not sure how that works at all, but I'm not complaining.

Action: Apparently this one was meant to increase productivity for everyone. I wasn't sure if actually worked until I felt it myself. I had just completed a task in like an hour. Said task usually took me like three before. The jist here is that it lets you do a lot more in the same span of time. Again no clue how that really works.

Mana: The name is somewhat misleading here. This domain covers all forms of mystical energy. All around boosting it in every way it can. Everything from regeneration of to how efficiently it's used. A big boon to us girls. At least when we we still needed to really ration our power. More on that later. The biggest sticker here is the effect on hostile magic.

Followers now absorb mana from the environment around them. Normally this just means replenishing your reserves faster. But it also means damage reduction. It passively drains the energy behind hostile magic. Reducing the damage we take from it. It's effectively crippling to curses and magic that is meant to stick to you. Because it actively drains them.

A Guide To Domains 2(Canon)(+500000 Faith)
Omake: A Guide to Domains 2

Purity: Perhaps the most important domain to us Puella. This is perhaps the entire reason we came to worship the new god. It gives the ability to passively purify our soul gems. Holding back and even reversing the grief build up. Allowing us to do far more with our powers and prevent us from becoming witches. At this point the only way to turn would be to use up the entirety of your power in like a day or so. Even then from what I've heard Leto can purify it and put you back together.

A more mundane use for this would be the environment. In a passive radius around followers taint and pollution is removed. Air is cleared of smog and such. Water is made pure again. And so in that vein. It also gives knowledge of processes to purify things. Some girls have started using the empowerment to clean up their local areas.

Stars: This is more material than you would expect it to be. It literally allows Leto to manipulate the stars themselves. I don't mean conceptually I mean actually altering their physical forms. Manipulating the entire celestial body or just planet sized chunks of it. Down to manipulating its temperature and light output. Even making it if better 'quality' whatever that means with enough followers living around it.

According to Kyubey Leto can even create small stars of low quality now. I'm not a scientist, but I can think of a lot of potential in that. Fusion power comes to mind like out of sci-fi. Except with magical elements added in. Shows you how bullshit gods can be I guess.

Planets: This one is like Stars except for planets. Basically it allows the manipulation of the attributes of the planet. Like manipulating the climate on a massive scale. The implications of that alone are massive considering what the world is like now. Especially when you know it can synergize with other domains for even greater effect.

That's not all though. It also covers the ability of terraforming. For those of you who don't know this is a sci-fi thing. At least I don't know if it is physically done on Earth. But it basically means the manipulation of an environment into another form. Like making a desert into a forest. Leto can do that to an entire planet. At least once he has all the right domains to help out. We may very well be able to stand on the surface of Mars in a few years. Without suits or protection just like on Earth.

Luck: This domain covers sheer chance. Basically it embodies making the odds in your favor. At the current level it has the power massively way things in your favor. Like as in 4 out of 5 times you'll win. And it stacks the more followers are working together. Boy is that a nice boost in a fight. Ranging from finding a dollar on the street to winning in a high stakes game through sheer chance. One girl I know decided to give gambling a try. She made a small fortune and was asked to never come back to the casino. At least after they found no way to prove she was cheating. The best part is she wasn't if it's all chance.

@ilbgar123
100k to Luck. 100k to Stars. 100k to Planets. 100k to Purity. 100k to Recycling.

...Actually looking at the Bayonetta stuff....
If it actually existed in this setting, the plot would probably be tossed out the airlock thanks to no-one wanting the petulant 'god' Jubileus to destroy everything. Though the state of Aesir is kind of unknown, with said individual having split itself into two, with an evil half that seeks to control everything, and a good half that was on the run from the other, whom wants to get all of the power of the original self to rule over all...

That depends on how you define Big G. There are multiple entities claiming to be God in the 'verse, but they largely lack the ability to, say, make a rock too heavy for them to move, and then move it anyway.

@ilbgar123 i do not recomended adding homestuck in the quest of beacause the plot of homestuck develop in Very quick pace and usage of anachronic order not to mention the timetravel shenanigan, the fact the story need to ready from beggining to be undertood and is always updating making hinding the spoiler on tv trope uselees in fact just do not add homestuck at alll for our sanity sake!!!

Strictly speaking, that's not a requirement of omnipotence. Omnipotence in no way requires being able to perform paradoxical actions.

I work off the system that A Simple Transaction does. Tier 1 Omnipotents have an absolute ability. Ie, Sonic can move in stopped time because he's really fast, but getting a barbell dropped on him will still knock him out. Tier 2s can basically do anything logically possible. A full Infinity Gauntlet is about 1.5. Tier 3s can start doing things like will themselves into existence, even if they're being actively opposed.

Mango appears to be writing something more akin to an Undertale AU-style thing but for Homestuck. Again, reserving judgement until he writes more.

Threat Assessments: Catholic Church(In-Universe File)(+500000 Faith)
Threat assessments
By The Catholic Church
The Alleged Templars
An ancient organization with widespread influence, only known thanks to a combination of factors revealing a hidden aspect of the knights templar, hidden from even most of that organization. They care only about gaining complete control, often using their power and influence to hunt for insanely ancient artefacts to try and seize total control of the world. While much weakened, their eternal rivals, the Assasin order is still operating, and aiming to deny them the artifacts they seek. They are a major threat, but one that is less direct since they are focused on manipulating events and hunting down artifacts. Very much the way we fight them is subtle, dealing blows to their agents while hiding our existence, and subtly nudging things in the favor of their eternal rival.
The Gods
The situation is very complex, not helped by the sheer amount of gods running around, complete with different groups of angels, each led by a god claiming to be THE God, running the morality gamut. Which isn't helped by there also being multiple claiming the title of Satan, or devil, also running the gamut because WHY NOT! Which... Naturally is why we have an organization dedicated to navigating the massive amount of players, and trying to nudge things so that humanity comes out ahead, even as we are nudged by everyone else looking to get a leg up on their rivals. The Cosmic Chess group(yes, it's somewhat a reference, even though it's more like poker), is tasked to learn, and understand, the gods so we could use what tools we have to nudge things in the favor of humanity. While some are sympathetic to humanity, some care more about themselves, some care more about defeating a rival/foe, and some are more hostile. Their source of power doesn't seem to all be from faith, but they tend to seek it out, as those whom are faithful are more likely to help in whatever the goal is, and those claiming to be GOD tend to try and co-opt groups deemed useful for them which complicates matters. Though it does offer some help in figuring out what the posers intentions are through what those co-opted groups do. Though somewhat worrying is how the various groups of religious extremists may or may not have ties to some form of god, since while there is no evidence, little is known about the backers of groups like ISIS, so it cant be confirmed either way. At least usually, there is some truth to the myths and legends when it comes to weaknesses, and none seem to actually be knowledgeable of everything. Though, should it become necessary to fight 'angels', we don't really know of any ways to do so other than throw lots of firepower at it and pray.

A/N: Well, I kind of got a bit inspired, and this happened. Relevant song. If this becomes canon, then the Vorlons may find themselves sticking their nose in far more than they bargained for if/when they come knocking, intent on using humanity as part of the little war to prove their ancient debate. Thinking last plan standing for the points (or Intrigue if no unlocking domains through omakes, or if it isn't a valid domain).

The Kansas City Shuffle is all about taking the fact that your mark, or enemy knows that something is up, and yet fails because they were looking for the wrong kind of trick. It is literally built on letting them know something is up, AND THEN using that as an advantage to make them fall for a trick anyway. While usually having a reputation for being sneaky can be detrimental for doing sneaky tricks. Well, that also means they wouldn't be looking for seemingly rookie mistakes which can be used to trick them in spite of their caution, or because of their caution spending on how you look at it. In fact, the WebComic Order of the Stick describes it best.
"A con man doesn't choose to play the shell game with you if there is any possibility of him actually losing. The con isn't in getting you to pick the wrong shell. The con is in getting you to accept that the basic premise of the game is still being followed. The con is in getting you to pick a shell at all. The ball isn't under the first shell... or the second shell... or even the third shell. The ball is in the con man's palm the whole time."
Haley Starshine, The Order of the Stick, #428
The core is to simply trick them into thinking they understand what you are trying to do, while you are actually doing something completely different. It works real well, because unless they realize what they are looking for isn't gonna happen, they simply wont be able to discover the real plan, because they are looking in the wrong spots and details. The whole idea can be applied to pretty much any situation, cause unless there is a way to just know what you are really up to, it's going to be hard to find out, because they simply won't look in the right place, as they wouldn't know what to even look for in the first place. I mean, if a diviner is trying to figure out when an attempt on their life will likely happen, they wont find out when they will get framed for a crime. And if you are trying to hide an item, instead of trying to hide it yourself, pass it on to someone else whom is beneath notice for safe-keeping while making sure the person looking for it will be searching for your hiding spot.

The way The Kansas City Shuffle works, means you could easily have layers, setting things up so they think it's one thing, but when discovered, jump to yet another conclusion that seems right, only to find that it too, was a dead end! And sometimes, a Kansas city shuffle can be done simply by letting one's reputation, or a relatively simple action, do the work of getting them to assume something. While somewhat crossing with Refuge in audacity, one could trick someone prepared for a crafty trick to fall for an obvious one, relying on the assumption you would never do something so obvious, or you could use an obvious trap to get them to fall for a less obvious one as they respond to the first, possibly harmless trap. Also, a simple action can easily set things up for a later stunt. If the person is savvy enough to be wary of a Kansas City shuffle, then adding another layer that takes more work to uncover may lead them to think they got the real plan, even if it is not.

A/N: All points to Kansas City Shuffle (or Deception if no unlocking domains through omakes). Well, the whole idea of Kansas City Shuffle is a quite effective way to trick people. Especially as the whole premise is to let the mark/target know that some trick is gonna happen, but in a way that ensures they are focused on looking for the wrong sort of trick. Really useful to keep people guessing, and could even benefit from gaining a reputation for trickery, as counterintuitive it may sound.

What would buying temperature get us? I imagine it would sync with stars and planets? Maybe help with tech by handling heat issues?

Or how about construction? I figure we're going to need it later on.

Administrator Leto: Alright, that should do it.

Administrator Leto: Hello everyone, this is a messaging app for all Puella Magi to use.

Administrator Leto: Kyubey has most likely informed you that this app would be installed on your phones/computers/other devices just yesterday.

Administrator Leto: Its purpose is for all Magical Girls to communicate with each other on a central platform and for everyone to be updated on events/crises on the dot. I've set up the rules and other info for this platform in the banners above.

Administrator Leto: This app is completely off the grid, so we don't need to worry about it being found by the authorities. Unless this server is tracked down and attacked by a malicious party, things should be fine.

BIGGAINZGIRL: HELLO EVERYONE!

Ultimatetwilight44: hi

jo21: hello

Administrator Leto: I hope this isn't too overwhelming for some girls. If you feel anxious, this app can set up private threads so you can talk with a few users at a time. I hope that helps.

dorkiedoll99: thats nice of u

SPARKLYSTAR: you are way more thoughtful than kyubey :)

BIGGAINZGIRL: Yea thx!

MagicGirl33: Thanks @Administrator Leto!

Administrator Leto: If there's anything more you need, just ask me.

In England, there is a group of magical girls meeting up in a house somewhere in a quiet part of London's outskirts.

The atmosphere of the living room was warm as girls chatted with each other. Before Leto, it would have been almost inconceivable for them to be on friendly terms with one another like this. It was no secret that Magical girls were territorial in the past, and wasn't that strange?

To think they only cooperated when a powerful Witch emerged and kept each other apart at arm's length even on the best of terms. It hadn't always been like that, but the times when magical girls worked together were quite rare.

But not anymore, not since Leto.

A spoon tapped on the rim of a wine glass, a high pitch bounced around the walls, the room went silent.

All attention turned to a teenager in school clothes, standing atop a small bench. Her name was Lillie Johnson. She was considered a veteran amongst everyone in the room, she had faced down many Familiars and a few Witches on her own.

"You know why we're all here," she spoke in a soft voice looking at all the girls in the room.

"Before, you believed in the Lord in Heaven and his Angels."

"You believed in the Son of God."

"And you cried out to them in your time of need."

"But all we heard in return, was silence."

A few girls bowed their heads to hide their sadness, while some continued to stare on.

"They did not listen," Lillie's voice broke a little as her mind wandered to where it shouldn't.

Two years ago, she learned the truth of her fate as a magical girl.

When she separated a rival from her own Soul Gem, she had not expected her to drop dead.

She had confronted Kyubey, she had demanded answers, they held nothing back, she learned things she wished she could unlearn.

She prayed, oh she had prayed. But as time passed her Soul Gem became darker and darker.

She despaired, thinking that she would become a monster that God would not look upon.

Thinking that nobody would help her.

"But He did," Lillie's eyes began to glisten with tears. But these weren't tears of despair…

They were of joy.

"When we were weak, He gave us strength." With a flash of light, she summoned a golden staff and held it high.

"When we were lost, He ensured each and every one of us, was found!" Some girls cheered, throwing their hands into the air and praising Leto.

"And when we were in the jaws of death, He pulled us out of it!" The cheer became a roar, and it was only thanks to the Hide Domain did the neighbours' sleep soundly.

"From this day forward, we no longer recognize the monotheistic god, that we once praised!"

"We will no longer believe in the god, we were told to believe in all our lives!"

"They are unworthy of our prayers, unworthy of belief, and unworthy of our love!"

"Instead, we give our prayers, our belief, and our love, To the one to who we owe our lives!"

"Not as Christians…"

"But. As. Letonites!"

Everyone screamed in ecstatic joy.

Administrator Leto: @Everyone, I have an important announcement. This isn't an emergency, but somebody needs help.

Administrator Leto: There's a teenage boy named
Luke Castellan sitting on a bench somewhere in Big Basin's Redwood State Park. He's been in a fight with something bad, he hasn't shared any details on what he tussled with, but if his wounds are any indication, it was something reptilian and magical in nature.

Administrator Leto: Perhaps mythological.

Administrator Leto: His worst injury was the one on his leg, he'd been poisoned and if it had not been for his medical supplies and my own intervention, he would not have lasted long. I've managed to heal the worst of his wounds, but he still needs proper care.

Administrator Leto: I need some girls in California State to find him and give him shelter until he's fully healed.

Administrator Leto: Are there any Magical Girls close to his location?

bunnygirl: i am! I live in Boulder Creek!

cakesandcoke: OH, OH!

cakesandcoke: Me too!

cakesandcoke: i can get to him!

cakesandcoke: ps: is he cute? 😍

Administrator Leto: What.

Administrator Leto: How is that important?

AzurBlue: I live in San Jose

AzurBlue: I think me and my friend @Zixy44 can get to him

Zixy44: Yeah!

Administrator Leto: Okay then, I'm making a private thread for the mission briefing.

[-Private Thread Created: Operation V.I.P Retrieval-]

[ Administrator Leto: This Mission should be a simple retrieval of the V.I.P. There shouldn't be any potential enemies in the area and the Hide Domain makes any witness a non-issue, but stay on guard. He has blond hair, blue eyes and a strong build, you'll know him once you see him.

cakesandcoke: oh so he is cute!

bunnygirl: @cakesandcoke stop being all lovey-dovey!

bunnygirl: focus on the mission!

Administrator Leto: There is one thing I didn't mention before, Luke Castellan has a sliver of Divinity in him.

bunnygirl: wait what

Administrator Leto: It's one of the reasons I even noticed him, had I not heard his prayer, I would never have noticed it. I have my suspicions on what he is, but that line of questioning is likely to break the small amount of trust he has in us.

Administrator Leto: Regardless, find him and get him to shelter, good luck.

The pain was bearable now, at the very least he was not in complete agony.

And also he wasn't close to dying anymore, so that was a nice bonus.

It had been a few minutes since the god had saved him, yet Luke did not feel at ease. It was somewhere before midnight, but when Luke looked up he did not see either the moon or the stars, Selene would not guide him on this night. Not that he expected such from a god. It was complete darkness all around him, though his eyes had adjusted to it, he could only see a few feet ahead of him. Above him, cold winds battered the large redwood trees making their branches move ominously as if they were plotting against him.

The god had asked him to wait, it said that help would come. Luke had never heard of a god named 'Leto' and did not trust it. Was it not more convenient to keep moving? Regardless of the pain?

But it had healed his leg, eased the pain of his wounds, no god Luke had ever known had done much for him, but this one did more than any he'd known his whole life, even his own father.

A sudden burst of light interrupted his line of thought.

"There he is, I found him!"

Luke shot up from his bench - despite the sharp pain that coursed through his body, making him hiss under his breath - and pointed his celestial bronze sword in the direction of the light. As it faded he could make out the silhouette of a-

What the-

Was that a little girl in a tutu?!

Standing before him was a comely fair-skinned fifteen-year-old or something teenager wearing what Luke would have seen at an anime convention. It wasn't too revealing, but still, why wear something like that? Other than the two daggers sheathed at her sides, what she wore hardly seemed suited for battle.

And what the hell was up with the fake bunny ears?!

"Luke Castellan, right?" the girl inquired as the rabbit ears waved back and forth in the wind. Luke stared at them. "Leto sent us."

Luke shook his head and focused on more important matters. "He sent you? What kind of god has servants dressed like anime girls?"

"Hey!" the bunny-girl fussed, her face screwed up in annoyance. "I'll have you know I thought this up myself!"

Before Luke could respond, three more girls appeared in a flash of light. Like the bunny-girl, they all wore frilly stylized dresses and carried their own weapons.

And Woah, was that one hefting a freaking machine-gun?!

"Okay let's get you somewhere safe mister," A dark-skinned girl with black hair and dyed streaks of red stepped forward. "Can you walk?"

"I think I can manage it," Luke said as he took a cautious step forward. "Where are we going?"

"We're going to my house in San Jose, it's not a mansion or anything fancy but it will do. You can rest up there."

Luke nodded before asking another question. "How much Ambrosia do you have?"

"Ambrosia?" The machine-gun girl gave him a puzzled look. "Why would we need that? We have magic."

There was a moment of silence.

"...this Leto of yours," Luke spoke very slowly, as the gears in his head began to turn. "He is a greek god, isn't he?"

All the girls looked at each other.

Then, the bunny girl shrugged and looked back at Luke with a measured expression.

"I don't know much about greek gods, but I think calling him a 'greek god' doesn't really fit. He's actually very nice!"

For a brief moment Luke considered his options, then sighed.

He was walking into something completely unknown, and the thought of that made him anxious.

But it wasn't like there was anyone else who was helping him right now.

"Just get me out of here, I'm sick of this park already."

][

AzurBlue: we got him @Administrator Leto

AzurBlue: luke is now resting at my house

AzurBlue: he should be fine in the morning

Administrator Leto: Good. When he's awake, we should ask him a few questions. That is if he's willing to talk. You said he mentioned something about 'Greek Gods'?

bunnygirl: yeah

bunnygirl: Also something about ambrosia

Administrator Leto: Looks like we'll need to do our research. If he is what I think he is, what other secrets does this world have?

[-Private Thread Created: High Priest Thread-]

[ Administrator Leto: Hello, Maxwell and Oliva. Nice to hear from the two of you again.

DarkOccultMaster: hey

Liv: Hello.

DarkOccultMaster: y'know if anyone told me if i was gonna talk with a god on an app on my computer or phone

DarkOccultMaster: i'd be so weirded out

DarkOccultMaster: and that's coming from me of all people

Liv: I concur. Knowing that magic existed, I wondered sometimes if the same applied to gods in some shape or form. After all, theology is always an interesting subject.

Liv: And now, I'm talking with a god on my new iPhone!

Liv: Ever since I spoke your name, it's been such an amazing past few days!

DarkOccultMaster: it's been the same for me too

DarkOccultMaster: feels good

Administrator Leto: I can see you are both excited, and I'm sure with the right training and effort, you'll be a shining example to everyone.

Administrator Leto: But it won't be easy, that's why I've set up a private thread for the High Priests. What we discuss here is somewhat Top Secret, as they say.

Liv: Is that why you invited us here? To discuss something important?

Administrator Leto: Yes. Luke Castellan, his nature as a demigod, and the sheer implications of his very existence cannot be ignored. I've increased my hold over the Masquerade Domain to find anything hidden on Earth/The Sol System and to better hide our operations from the general population and potential hostile factions.

Administrator Leto: As you already know, some of our Puella found some pretty interesting things.

DarkOccultMaster: yeah like that doctor guy on the east coast, i already knew about him but man

DarkOccultMaster: a whole freaking government conspiracy to keep him from finding out about magic?

DarkOccultMaster: the CIA and FBI working together?!

DarkOccultMaster: i did not see that coming!

Liv: Neither did most of the Magical Girls. I'll admit, the reaction was pretty funny.

Administrator Leto: Considering what we know of the mad scientist from the many online videos/articles about him and his company, I can see the dangers of what might happen if Doofenshmirtz were to learn and use Magic for his own petty ends, but if he learned there was a better way…

DarkOccultMaster: wait are you thinking we should reach out to the guy? i don't know, uncle sam may not be too happy about that

Administrator Leto: Once we grow in strength and power, I think we can convince the US government that Doofenshmirtz is not a threat to them or the world. Or at the very least, not the person they should keep an eye on.

Liv: I share my concern with @DarkOccultMaster, if we reach out to Doofenshmirtz, it's possible that he'll ask us to assist him in 'taking over the tri-state area' and committing 'evil' acts as a condition for joining us.

Liv: Now, while we don't personally know him, I don't think Doofenshmirtz is truly evil. But the consequences of what might happen if he achieves his goals could be catastrophic to the USA and maybe even the world. And let's not even begin to discuss the destructive potential any of his 'Inators' could be if powered with magic.

Liv: And even if we could convince him not to do any of that, there's no guarantee he'll even believe in you as a god.

Administrator Leto: True, as a scientist, he may not put that much stock in theology. But I'm optimistic that convincing him that I'm a god won't be too difficult.

DarkOccultMaster: yeah, you convinced me that you were a god to be worshipped

DarkOccultMaster: a good one too

DarkOccultMaster: so if there's anyone who could make Doofenshmirtz change his ways

DarkOccultMaster: or at least stop him from doing petty shit

DarkOccultMaster: it's you

Liv: The question, I think, is how you will do that.

Administrator Leto: Yeah, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Let's focus on other things.

Administrator Leto: A group of mystery-solving teens who haven't aged in the past fifty years, they call themselves Mystery Inc. They have solved numerous crimes and unmasked many criminals dressed as monsters.

Administrator Leto: The population of Springfield State, like the teenagers, haven't aged at all. The state itself is somehow neighbours with Maine, Kentucky, Nevada, and Ohio all at the same time. And if all the discussions all the magical girls have had is any indication, it is all centred around a seemingly immortal family known as, The Simpsons.

Administrator Leto: The gods of Norse, Egyptian, and Greek/Roman mythologies exist, which basically means, we should assume that all human mythology, in general, is real. I have no idea why any of these gods have confronted me yet, but I get the impression that their nature as gods is fundamentally different from mine.

Liv: How do you know they are different from you? Shouldn't all gods be the same in terms of Divinity?

Administrator Leto: I… suppose, as a god, I can feel they are different from me. I think that's because my Divinity is different from theirs.

DarkOccultMaster: how?

Administrator Leto: I don't know yet, sadly. Perhaps when I grow in power or if we investigate them, we'll figure it out.

Administrator Leto: Needless to say, so many strange things are happening, we have a lot of work ahead of us.

DarkOccultMaster: hey one question

DarkOccultMaster: i know we aren't the first high priests so

DarkOccultMaster: whos the first?

Administrator Leto: They'll introduce themselves soon, but right now I'm afraid they're a bit occupied with other things at the moment. But I've told them about both of you and they're excited to meet you, so expect a meeting sometime in the future.

DarkOccultMaster: cool, cant wait to meet them then

Liv: I look forward to meeting the first High Priest as well. I wonder if they're good at magic? ]

On the roof of a suburban house in Colorado, two young magical girls stared at the night sky. The both of them loved stargazing, it gave them a chance to reflect on the many things life threw at them.

Tonight, the topic was religion.

"Gilla, do you think Leto is God?"

Gilla turned to look at her friend with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean Alexis?" She asked. Her friend was pensive as she stared at the distant stars with her hands balled underneath her chin.

Gilla didn't need to be a genius to know something was bothering her friend.

"You know, the guy who created the Earth, who made us, made everything." Alexis leaned her head back. "Do you think Leto and Him are the same person?"

Gilla frowned as she considered the question. She thought about everything she read about God in her synagogue's Torah, about all the stories she loved as a child, about her connection to the god that called himself Leto, one that gave her strength and power, yet wondered why she needed that at all when she knew God was always with her, magical connection or no.

She could not find any connection.

"I don't know. I think only Leto or the High Priests know." Gilla knew that was hardly an answer, though she genuinely wished she had one for Alexis.

Her friend's face was unreadable.

"Okay then."

Maybe it was the way Alexis said that, but Gilla decided to take a gamble.

"Alexis, why are you asking something like this?"

Alexis did not respond and for a moment Gilla thought she pushed a bit too much before her friend sighed a little while scratching the back of her head.

"I've heard a rumour on the talking app we use…" Alexis' tone had a hint of caution, like she was handling a delicate topic. "Some girls who were like, raised as Christians and believed in God for all their lives, have converted into believing in Leto instead."

WHAT?!

Alexis rocked back a little with wide eyes.

Ah.

Gilla said that out loud.

"Sorry," Gilla sheepishly mumbled before shaking her head. She hadn't meant to sound so shocked. "Okay, what do you mean some girls have just completely stopped being Christians because that's…"

"Weird? Yeah, tell me about it. They're calling themselves 'Letonites' now."

"Did Leto or Kyubey tell them to do this?"

"I don't know. When Kyubey asked us to worship Leto, they didn't tell us to stop believing in God. I think these girls made this choice on their own."

"But I…" Gilla gesticulated with her hands in grasping motions, her mouth opening and closing before finally finding words. "T-that's crazy! You don't just change what faith you believe in at the drop of a hat!"

Alexis just shrugged. "Well, they did. Before my family and I came to America, I once saw a TV documentary about a guy who was an Atheist for most of his life before some life-changing experience or whatever made him become a practising Buddhist."

"Alexis, that's not the same. From what you're telling me, these girls somehow over a year converted into Letonites or whatever they're calling themselves now."

"Gilla, my point is that I can believe it. I mean, think about it, when something like Leto helps you out of a serious problem," Alexis brought out her Soul Gem and tapped on it twice.

"Gives you a lot of cool shit along with a boost to your powers," With a snap of her fingers, Alexis summoned a gold staff personally customized with a little bear toy hanging off it.

"And finally, only asks that you believe that he exists. I think after all that, you'd definitely consider worshipping him over whatever faith you used to believe in, even if he never asked or implied that you do that."

Gilla couldn't help but frown. She wasn't comfortable with the thought of switching religions just because of extraordinary circumstances. She needed more answers if only to get some clarity out of this whole rumour.

"Do you know anything else?"

Alexis shook her head. "No. I only learned about this from a friend on the app, and they only know about it because she came across a Letonite talking about her new faith to a bunch of other girls."

"...I wish we could go back to thinking that conspiracy around Doofenshmirtz was the craziest thing we ever learned."

In the bedroom of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated~, the CEO sneezed in his sleep.

A/N: This takes place in the middle of the Omake Purchases update and Turn 5 Results. The High Priest OC's Leto is talking to/the continuation of the Luke Castellan omake, which have been used with permission from their creators, The Froggy Ninja and Ancient One. I'll save my omake points for later.

Here's an explanation for anyone who would like answers for why former christian magical girls converted:

They felt like they were abandoned by God. Before Leto arrived, all of them were in a really bad place when the realities of being an Incubator-made magical girl came crashing down on them. So, when Leto showed up and Kyubey convinced the girls to worship him, their lives immediately turned around for the better. One or two of them still believe in God, but the majority of the group converted to Leto after he saved their lives. I hope that's believable.

And yeah, Leto took some inspiration from Pokemon when he named the chat.

The Letonites Rise.
