Something Ends, Something Begins
][
It is not truly known when it began, nor is it known why it began.
It is as if The War For Providence needs no justification but itself.
Or perhaps it is simply the nature of the divine to always be in conflict.
Throughout the very fabric of the universe, eleven factions of Gods, Ascended and Entities possessing technology that seem akin to magic itself, do battle for the dominance of the universe. As the stars go out, as all light flickers and fades, there is no victor in sight, nor shall there ever be. The supposed winners are tiny fragments of their former selves, their victories are always pyrrhic. The losers are ground into dust and scattered throughout reality, never to reform.
The reasons for this endless conflict are not simple ones, good and evil, order and chaos, such disparities have no place in this nightmare without end.
Without change, peace will be but a distant dream and The War For Providence will rage on into eternity.
This cannot stand, one way or another, the war must end.

The first thing he knew was that he was a God.
And second, he was falling.
He could feel the loud wind ripping through him as he fell, his limbs felt as if they were about to be ripped off his body as he continued to spin uncontrollably. The very realization that he could feel, that he had limbs at all, that he could hear, was lost in the chaotic whirlwind that was his mind. A mind! He would have been shocked that he even
had one if it wasn't such a jumbled mess at the moment. He should have eyes too right? But all he could see were flashes of bright colours that almost blinded him and impenetrable darkness that was devoid of any light.
Had he a mouth, he would be screaming without end. Or did he have a mouth? Was he screaming? There was so much noise, he wasn't sure.
Then it was over.
It was as if he was suddenly emerging from underneath the water, he could finally breathe! He had lungs! He could see more clearly now! Something was rushing towards him, a blue sphere of some kind? No, a planet. If the lights on its landmass were anything to go by, then it was already inhabited, the natives on the planet must already have already advanced to a technological stage. As it came closer, he could see he would most likely impact one of the larger continents. As he fell through the atmosphere, he realized he should be burning to a crisp right now. Why wasn't he? Was his very body even physical? He did not have time to ponder such questions as the ground rushed up to meet him.
The impact drove the air out of his lungs, pain should have come soon after yet it did not. Even with his mind a whirlpool of chaos, a realization pushed up to the surface, he realized that his body was a not physical one. He would already be dead if it was. With this truth, any weakness a normal body would have, simply disappeared. However deep within him, he felt like a strange sort of weight was growing in the confines of his being. It did not help that the ground underneath him was cold and rough, it offered no comfort. He took in his surroundings, he was in an alleyway, between two houses to be exact. He should be moving, yet he couldn't manage it. His chest was growing heavy.
It was with dawning horror that he understood what was happening and immediately wished he hadn't. He had no link to anyone! Without one it was extremely likely that he would experience the godly equivalent of a seizure, and it mattered not if his body was not physical, he would feel an agony that would certainly kill him.
He needed to find someone, establish a link, it did not matter to him at that moment it was a weak one, any kind of link would do.
He had not been thrown here just to curl up and die in an alley, he would not let it end like this, he would
not die alone and forgotten by the relentless march of time.
It will not end this way.

"This is your stop kid, stay safe on the way home. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the party."
Miko Kubota offered The Bus Driver a sad smile with the fringe of her purple hair covering her eyes, they weren't really friends but he was always nice to her. "Thanks, mister."
The Bus Driver nodded as the doors closed, then Miko watched the bus drive away. She sighed, then turned to trudge all the way home.
Miko tried her best to distract herself by playing one of her favourite Hinobi games in her head, in an effort not to think about how she failed her chance to make friends. Everyone she talked to wasn't interested in being friends with her. She tried to talk about stuff, like video games and other things everyone liked, but it wasn't enough. Probably because of that one party at that stupid pizza arcade with that stupid scary bear. No one that day wanted to be friends with the girl who ruined Lizzie Mcgee birthday party forever, and every other kid's to come. Some guys knew what happened wasn't really her fault, but...
She got an invite because they felt sorry for her, she accepted because it was another chance not to mess up
again and make some friends this time and-
And she still messed up, just like last time and all the times before...
Miko sniffed, quickly rubbed at her eyes to wipe away what was
definitely leftover sand and wondered not for the first time why she and her family moved here.
As she came across the familiar corner that would lead home something
shined brightly in the edge of her vision. Ah geez, was it the sun, was it that late already? No, hang on it was still daytime. It wouldn't be afternoon for a while, right?
She turned towards the light and saw... something. In an alleyway between two houses was-
Ooh, shiny!
Miko approached the mote of light and with sparkling eyes, reached out to touch it.
The moment she did, the course of her life changed forever.

After the sun fell and the moon rose, when stars appeared in the sky, when Miko was told to stop playing on her console young lady, it's time for bed, Miko Kubota pulled her bed covers around herself, closed her eyes shut and dreamed.
There, in those dreams, or visions as her new boring-looking friend called them, she happily talked to him about her life, video games and the world.
Leto would cheerish every moment.

A/N: Like our talk with Kyubey, I wanted to spice up Leto's first meeting with Miko a bit.
