Fledgling Deity Quest

Well, it's specifically 10% of Faith income. Unless that got changed. In which case, the mechanics post needs to be changed on that point. Though it still has Order and Chaos as 'Genre' Domains, which doesn't really fit what we now know about them. I suppose they might still be genre domains in category, but not the same '25' price point. Or there's a separate, genre version of them.

As for speeding up arcs, I don't think we're at that point yet? At least as far as snowballing. We kind of did that by finding the Magical Girls way earlier than expected. Something to keep in mind, though, I suppose. We do also have unknown faction attention as well.

Somewhat related thought that occurred to me is what exactly happens when we managed to grab both a Domain, and all sub-domains of it. Such as Weapons, and all the weapon Domains under it. Or Emotion, and the various emotions. Or Attributes and the various attributes. Those kinds of things. Not something I expect to happen soon, if it does. Would kind of be satisfying in and of itself, to end up 'completing' a whole Domain category collection as well. Even if they're only at level one.

Aren't we due to get something like 10 million or so new followers from the restored Witches sometime in the next few turns?

I don't think any number of omakes is going to have anything on that.

Well, with that, we first need to purify their Grief Seeds. Which we've got covered, but it's going to take an unknown amount of time. Given our current Domains, and the fact that the passive purification of the Grief Seeds is sitting at 5 years, it shouldn't take too long to put a dent in that. Not even counting the fact that we can also have some of our Magical Girl followers that are focused on Purity to handle some of the workload there.

The real bottleneck at this point is restoring their Bodies. I think the current plan for that is to grab relevant Domains for that. Which is pretty much anything 'Body' Domain related. Human might or might not help on that front. There's also Regeneration and Healing. We've been informed that having both of those at level 5 will start allowing our Magical Girl followers work on restoring Bodies of de-witchified Magical Girls. Though it's probably a good idea to be able to do it ourselves first.

So it's not an immediate increase in Follower count. But it will be a steady increase, that'll probably only elevate. And that's not even counting the current Magical Girl follower increase. Not sure how long it'll take to reach the point of us having all the Contracted Magical Girls as followers.

I would like to imagine that we ended up escalating faster than our counterpart who is also presumably going to be running on Faith. The one that we'll be able to get info on for sure, from restoring Leto's memories.

Still, considering how fast we got the Domains needed for the Purification part, and how our Faith income is only increasing over time, I don't think it will be more than a year or two before we get most of them properly in circulation and generating Faith. We're escalating pretty fast.

Of course, the big problem with that, is that now our Marvel is not only going to have to hide 9 active Star Seeds, but also our growing army of Magical Girls, which will probably be big enough once they're all restored that Galaxia would see it as a threat all on its own. So we are definitely going to want to get that up and running ASAP.

Indeed, I think that some of the problem we'll run into with rapid escalation is that we'll be putting a target on our back for anyone who catches on to what's happening. We need to get better at concealment to stay under the radar.

Edit: this might be an argument for leaning more technological again. Easier to blend in with technology than sudden surges in background magic.

Wait a second. Are the Order and Chaos mechanics Dominic Deegan references?

There's a reason we're aiming to max out Hide and then branch out to other stealth domains, yeah.

Yeah, I was expecting like, 5 Omakes per update at most. Might need to just set it at 25 as of three digits, 50 as of 4, 100 as of 5, and so on.

Working on it, this Quest is still something of a work in progress, especially since I've had to make some major adjustments because of Kyubey showing up so early, though Chaos and Order are abnormal Domains, since they tend to be fundamental axes of the setting in the same way Good and Evil are, but have inherent 'corruption' or other mechanics to them that the others generally don't. Thus, they act differently, as they aren't normal Empowerment Domains, being more akin to Mundane enhancing everything normal, or Wonder enhancing everything wondrous. High level Order would make bureaucracy and other such systems less prone to corruption and incredible slowness, while Chaos would bolster innovation and macguyvering. Part of it is that higher Divinity loosens restrictions though.

Generally, there's no special reward for doing that.

Uh, never read that. I'm taking a bit from a bunch of other Quests and settings, including your old God Quest, when it comes to Chaos weirdness.

For sure very useful to have.

Yeah, there was some stuff about injecting Order into spells to get Perfected or Maximized versions, though I can't remember what chaos di-

What Empowerment are very effective for dealing with Spirits (killing/exterminating them), Ghosts, supernatural zombies, and Undead?

It depends. If it's Resident Evil Zombies, Qi is your best bet, since it lets you attack their messed-up biology directly via Qi's super-lifeforce. If it's ghosts, Aura is soulstuff, so it's your best bet. If it's a psychic echo like some poltergeists, then Psi would work best.

Though Burial is a specialized 15 Domain intended to be an anti-Undead Domain. Undead and Death are 10 Domains. Specific undead types like Ghosts and Zombies are 5 Domains. Certain Domains can have select Undead they work well against. For example, a type of undead only spawned by wrongful death would be affected by Justice.

Also, Magic is versatile as hell and Essence can specifically counter anything, but not everything. Your real best bet would be for an Essence Master who specs in on anti-undead with whatever specific empowerments they use to facilitate that being less relevant.

I meant something like Jason Voorhees, Aura would be very effective, maybe Qi would be somewhat effective.

Maybe some using some Empowerments on some types of Undead would be a bad idea, like using Qi against a Jiangshi.

Light and Dark are both minor domains and will probably synergize with Heart well.
@ilbgar123, tier 5 wonders can make tier 1 wonders right? Would those tier 1 wonders be applicable for Mundane?

What would be the domain for generic "burn the unholy" stuff? Holy? Radiance?

Holy, it's a 15, specced to deal with evil and wrongness, though it's technically a subset of Purity in the same way Burial is for Death.

Also, Magic is versatile as hell and Essence can specifically counter anything, but not everything. Your real best bet would be for an Essence Master who specs in on anti-undead with whatever specific empowerments they use to facilitate that being less relevant.

Well, yes, but for standardized counters, you're going to have a lot more of the Qi/Aura/Psi users than anti-Undead Essence Masters.

Vampires tend to be eating the lifeforce/supernatural energy in the blood rather than the blood itself, yes, so using Qi on them is usually a bad call. Magic tends to work just fine unless you're facing an explicit thaumavore, and even then it's versatile enough that it's at least possible to get around that. Essence and Heart tend to be personalized enough that anything that could eat that stuff was probably explicitly created to do so against that specific person, or Chaos made a monster type to do so. Chaos could make Heartless a thing if it wanted, for example. Or the theorized Existence Eaters Kyubey mentioned.

Light and Dark are both minor domains and will probably synergize with Heart well.

They would.

Uh, 5*500 is 2500, boosted to 4000 by Wonder and Marvel. Dividing that by 10 only gets you to 400. Still, with a high enough level of Marvel/the Domains, the answer is yes, though only the ones made by Followers or Wonders. Tier 5 is where a Marvel in the style of a Terraforming engine can start making more personalized engines to aid in it's work. Or a Marvel Star might make Marvel Planets. Of course, if Wonder and Marvel gain a singular level apiece, or 2 to either, 2500 becomes 5000 effective skill, and that's enough to hit the 500 threshold of basic Marvels.

Wonder and Marvel at 5 apiece would, assuming nothing else gets upgraded, offer a cumulative 220% increase to the potency of all Wonders, meaning a 3.2 multiplier. So, a Tier 4, operating at a baseline of 2000 would be upgraded to 6400, and 640 is more than enough for a Tier 1 Marvel. As of both being 10, the cumulative bonus would be 420%, or a 5.2 multiplier, so a Tier 2 would be working off of an effective 5200 Skill, so then Tier 2s would be enough to mass produce Tier 1 Marvels. Finally, as of level 15, Marvel and Wonder would offer a cumulative bonus of 620%, or *7.2, which isn't enough to get 500 to 5000, but it's enough that a tier 3's 1500 would be operating at 10800, so enough that it could mass produce tier 2s. From there, the special bonuses largely cease, only going up at every multiple of 5, though relevant dice still increase, so Marvel and Wonder going up from 15->25 is worth something beyond the 40% buff to Marvel power apiece.

Also, Mundane 5 can allow for Tier 1s to universally be considered 'Mundane' by the Domain, since Follower Skill caps will rise to the point where a significant number of people can make them if they max out a given Skill. Similarly, Mundane 10 and 15 move tier 2 and 3 into the overlap between Mundane and Wonder.

Like the classic immune to magic, but not a boulder made by magic?
AKA thaumavores eat all magic, but mages could go around that by using magic to create non-magic threats the thaumavore can't just eat?

Yes, though Magic's Versatility spec means that it and Essence are best equipped for an Anti-Thaumavore/Anti-Anti-Magic attack. Though simply using just about any of the other Empowerment types against a foe specced to counter one is going to be pretty effective.

@ilbgar123 is there some beneficial interaction between the Heart, Light and Dark domains and the various Emotion domains?
Also what is the interaction between Heart and Soul domains and the Memory domain?

It is not truly known when it began, nor is it known why it began.

It is as if The War For Providence needs no justification but itself.

Or perhaps it is simply the nature of the divine to always be in conflict.

Throughout the very fabric of the universe, eleven factions of Gods, Ascended and Entities possessing technology that seem akin to magic itself, do battle for the dominance of the universe. As the stars go out, as all light flickers and fades, there is no victor in sight, nor shall there ever be. The supposed winners are tiny fragments of their former selves, their victories are always pyrrhic. The losers are ground into dust and scattered throughout reality, never to reform.

The reasons for this endless conflict are not simple ones, good and evil, order and chaos, such disparities have no place in this nightmare without end.

Without change, peace will be but a distant dream and The War For Providence will rage on into eternity.

This cannot stand, one way or another, the war must end.

The first thing he knew was that he was a God.

And second, he was falling.

He could feel the loud wind ripping through him as he fell, his limbs felt as if they were about to be ripped off his body as he continued to spin uncontrollably. The very realization that he could feel, that he had limbs at all, that he could hear, was lost in the chaotic whirlwind that was his mind. A mind! He would have been shocked that he even had one if it wasn't such a jumbled mess at the moment. He should have eyes too right? But all he could see were flashes of bright colours that almost blinded him and impenetrable darkness that was devoid of any light.

Had he a mouth, he would be screaming without end. Or did he have a mouth? Was he screaming? There was so much noise, he wasn't sure.

Then it was over.

It was as if he was suddenly emerging from underneath the water, he could finally breathe! He had lungs! He could see more clearly now! Something was rushing towards him, a blue sphere of some kind? No, a planet. If the lights on its landmass were anything to go by, then it was already inhabited, the natives on the planet must already have already advanced to a technological stage. As it came closer, he could see he would most likely impact one of the larger continents. As he fell through the atmosphere, he realized he should be burning to a crisp right now. Why wasn't he? Was his very body even physical? He did not have time to ponder such questions as the ground rushed up to meet him.

The impact drove the air out of his lungs, pain should have come soon after yet it did not. Even with his mind a whirlpool of chaos, a realization pushed up to the surface, he realized that his body was a not physical one. He would already be dead if it was. With this truth, any weakness a normal body would have, simply disappeared. However deep within him, he felt like a strange sort of weight was growing in the confines of his being. It did not help that the ground underneath him was cold and rough, it offered no comfort. He took in his surroundings, he was in an alleyway, between two houses to be exact. He should be moving, yet he couldn't manage it. His chest was growing heavy.

It was with dawning horror that he understood what was happening and immediately wished he hadn't. He had no link to anyone! Without one it was extremely likely that he would experience the godly equivalent of a seizure, and it mattered not if his body was not physical, he would feel an agony that would certainly kill him.

He needed to find someone, establish a link, it did not matter to him at that moment it was a weak one, any kind of link would do.

He had not been thrown here just to curl up and die in an alley, he would not let it end like this, he would not die alone and forgotten by the relentless march of time.

It will not end this way.

"This is your stop kid, stay safe on the way home. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the party."

Miko Kubota offered The Bus Driver a sad smile with the fringe of her purple hair covering her eyes, they weren't really friends but he was always nice to her. "Thanks, mister."

The Bus Driver nodded as the doors closed, then Miko watched the bus drive away. She sighed, then turned to trudge all the way home.

Miko tried her best to distract herself by playing one of her favourite Hinobi games in her head, in an effort not to think about how she failed her chance to make friends. Everyone she talked to wasn't interested in being friends with her. She tried to talk about stuff, like video games and other things everyone liked, but it wasn't enough. Probably because of that one party at that stupid pizza arcade with that stupid scary bear. No one that day wanted to be friends with the girl who ruined Lizzie Mcgee birthday party forever, and every other kid's to come. Some guys knew what happened wasn't really her fault, but...

She got an invite because they felt sorry for her, she accepted because it was another chance not to mess up again and make some friends this time and-

And she still messed up, just like last time and all the times before...

Miko sniffed, quickly rubbed at her eyes to wipe away what was definitely leftover sand and wondered not for the first time why she and her family moved here.

As she came across the familiar corner that would lead home something shined brightly in the edge of her vision. Ah geez, was it the sun, was it that late already? No, hang on it was still daytime. It wouldn't be afternoon for a while, right?

She turned towards the light and saw... something. In an alleyway between two houses was-

Ooh, shiny!

Miko approached the mote of light and with sparkling eyes, reached out to touch it.

The moment she did, the course of her life changed forever.

][

After the sun fell and the moon rose, when stars appeared in the sky, when Miko was told to stop playing on her console young lady, it's time for bed, Miko Kubota pulled her bed covers around herself, closed her eyes shut and dreamed.

There, in those dreams, or visions as her new boring-looking friend called them, she happily talked to him about her life, video games and the world.

Leto would cheerish every moment.

A/N: Like our talk with Kyubey, I wanted to spice up Leto's first meeting with Miko a bit.

@ilbgar123 if you have read "the games we play" by Ryuugi then would you say that in your quest system that that version of aura would be aura, magic, qi, and essence domains combined?

Well, more or less. Enough Aura allows for somewhat more conventional spellcasting than normal RWBY Aura, and Jaune in that AU wasn't a normal person by any stretch of the imagination, so it might be more accurate to classify his version specifically as Aura, Qi, and Essence.

What's our range on detecting High Priests? And now that the Senshi Sensor is a Super Sensor can it be configured to check for them?

What's our range on detecting High Priests? And now that the Senshi Sensor is a Super Sensor can it be configured to check for them?

High Priests need to be within range of passive effects. So, 3 kilometers of any groups of Followers.

Also, making the Senshi Sensor switch to more general energy sense, which it has to do for pretty much everything else, drops it to 100 kilometers in range, with significant loss in fidelity underground. Changing it's specialty could get around this, as could jumping up a tier, but for now, it's limited to 100 km out. Of course, this is still enough that you can probably grid system them out via Kyubey.

Also, healing all the Magical Girls currently reduced to Grief Seeds, 117 million, would get you 23400, as they have a HP rate of 1 per 5k instead of the current 1 per 5 million, due to karmic destiny weighting them towards metaphysical importance just as much as more mundane importance. As seen when Kyubey explains that Madoka and her Witch were getting stronger because Homura was Resetting the timeline to try and save her so much. She was a Nexus Point from Terminator 5, you might say.

I'm going to say there's currently 1 million normal Puella wandering about, which would put their annual casualty rate at about 5%. There are a lot who don't make it past the first couple months while they learn the ropes or are huge outliers like Mami which seems to have been something like 5 years in. That accounts for an additional 200.
