[X] Crush his eye and move on; he's interrupting you and you're not in the mood for a fight.

I honestly wouldn't mind the fight but I can't help but find this really funny. Not tomention how much it would freak out the other servants/ masters watching. Might get even more fights this way.

...Still to have Lancer all excited to finally get to fight seriously and then for Flandre to just burst him on a whim/ out of annoyance seems really funny to me lol.

There's something thematically hilarious about just insta-killing him.
But...
[X] Fight him seriously.

I wanna save the eye popping for something really cool and dramatic.

Lancer....might actually survive eye popping? For a little bit. Cu and Heracles are that special kind of bullshit where they can survive a truly unholy amount of punishment and keep fighting.

Mind, Lancer will almost definitely die from that. But he might stick around just long enough to take Flan with him. If Kotomine is watching via Lancer's eyes he may even use a Command Seal to keep his pawn alive a little longer. Probably not, but not impossible either.

I think Cu deserves one good fight here; his stated goals are directly in line with what Flan wants out of her adventure. So let's oblige him. Who knows, maybe we'll get to recruit another blue haired mage, but for once it'll be a man!

I do hope Caster is watching though. We could use the support in case shit goes wrong; Lancer and that damned spear are one of the worst opponents for Flan in this war. I wish we had gotten Lancer's identity out of Shirou and Saber.

I'm pretty sure his Battle Continuation isn't high enough to survive insta-death moves. A rank specifically states that it can be beaten by a decisive lethal wound.

*waggles hand*

Honestly, it's kinda more what's dramatically convenient?

Lancer can definitely survive a blow to his heart/servant core, and his was ordered to kill himself. Meanwhile Hassan manages to crush his heart and that was that. Lancer fell into Dark Sakura (I think), but it was still a marked difference from his showing in UBW.

Heracles is supposed to only have 12 lives, but he pulls out a 13th life against Gilgamesh in a desperate attempt to save Ilya.

Or in another example, Gae Bolg is supposed to be an instant kill, but Saber has high enough Luck to survive anyway.

This is the Nasuverse, rules exist to be broken and show how badass you are.

How can you deny the bro?

I mean we're allied with Caster, we're one Rule Breaker away from recruiting Cu. Which would be awesome. Sadly we don't know about Rule Breaker, but as soon as Caster hears how much Lancer hates his Master, Lancer will rise high on her to-recruit list.

it's harder to get a feel for how the land moves when you're in the air. And with all the close and winding streets, land-bound transit and combat would be interesting – well, unless Berserker were one of the combatants. You get the feeling that, much like yourself, he is perfectly willing and capable of simply going through most walls instead of having to plan around them. Not that he's capable of planning
Ah Flan understands things well.
It's a rather odd place, empty but looking like there should be people around, and it's very well-kept. Is it a preserve of some kind? And it feels … sort of like when you get upset and break something you didn't want to break ….
aka were the fourth war ended.
"It's true that my Master is a coward, and he probably would have preferred that I take your heart from behind, but I don't like such methods. I'd rather have a straight fight, and since my Master has so kindly let me fight at my best, I'd like to have a go at the girl who fought on even terms with Berserker." He flourishes his spear and slips into a fighting stance. "Unless you'd prefer I kill you without resisting, of course." You size him up – he's got a huge reach advantage, being taller and having a spear, but if he's not quick enough it won't matter. Even Sasaki wouldn't be able to stop you if you charged him, and being run through is more of an irritation than something lethal, so it's not like that's a problem. It's really only a question of how seriously you want to take this man ….
Nice judements on both sides, Lancer going all out is a rare treat in the 5th war I Think we should enjoy this chance at real fun.
[x] Ask for a rematch later tonight; you're in the middle of exploring the city.
-[x] Asking for a tussle before the first date? For shame! For that, you'll escort me through the city today. We can fight later tonight instead.
-[x] he can show us a nice empty place to fight at were we wont have interruptions.

I think the key word is decisive. If the blow is unquestionably a lethal wound, such a assassins instant kill thing or crushing his eye, then Battle continuation doesn't do anything against it.
Or in another example, Gae Bolg is supposed to be an instant kill, but Saber has high enough Luck to survive anyway.
Gae Bolg isn't an instant kill though, it causes reversed causality but it doesn't actually guarantee that the target will be fatally wounded or killed by the blow. The blow can be dodged if it is dodged before the blow lands, and even if it hits it isn't necessarily a fatal wound to things that don't need their heart.

Again, what counts as decisive is...variable when applied to Servants.

Gae Bolg isn't an instant kill though,

Yes it is, or it's meant to be. Yes it reverses causality, but it also automatically targets the heart. Saber dodging it is actually an amazing feat.

It does that too; it prevents healing. It's one of the reasons it hurt Saber for as long as it did.

The blow can be dodged if it is dodged before the blow lands, and even if it hits it isn't necessarily a fatal wound to things that don't need their heart.

Only way to dodge is to do what Archer does, back the fuck out of range. And considering Lancer GA'd Bazett from something like across a yard, he's actually got a lot of leeway.

And again: heart is auto-targetted. Gae Bolg can kill Aruceid on one blow, and that's Word of God. Nasu describes it as, "Not just removing HP, but setting the target's HP to zero."

[x] Fight him seriously.

Man, if it's a tossup between an actual fight in broad daylight and tipping our hand to the likes of Gilgamesh, I'll have to go with this option.

It's a trump card for a reason folks. Don't use it until we absolutely gotta use it.

Also worth noting, Lancer can deflect Gilgamesh's GoB spam for something like almost a day. Another reason I'd like to have him on our side.

I am worried that people are not going to take Lancer seriously until he starts wrecking our face off. And once you're hit with a cursed wound from Gae Bolg, if memory serves you need phenomenal healing power like Arturia or Avalon. Maybe killing Lancer would break the curse, like Gae Buidhe, but I can't remember if that was covered in canon.

And if you doubt Gae Bolg's cursed wounds, go reread the scene near the end of Fate route where Lancer stabs Shirou.

...Seriously that spear is a fucking menace. It's a one-hit-kill that's so cheap Lancer gets to use it multiple times.

Behold Lancer going all out.

Now for everyone who wants to play around do you honestly want to die?

I don't think anyone is voting for Play With Him.

I do want to fight someone who's got the same aims as Flan though, i.e. have fun. Hoping to recruit him, and we gotta give him a good fight and then live to get on his good side, for when we Rule Breaker him.

At last!! some action!! I'm getting bored with all the talk and avoiding conflict. Also, lets not reveal our trump card on a whim alright? Kotomine is watching through Lancer's eyes and I don't want us to tip him off so that he can relay that piece of information to Gilgamesh.

Yeah I count us lucky Lancer isn't just stabbing us in the back like Kotomine would prefer; we're not a Servant, so we don't have the Protections and abilities that prevent Servants from doing that kind of shit to each other.

As bad as this can be, Gilgamesh hitting us with an alpha strike because we've shown the ability to annihilate a Servant out of nowhere is unquestionably worse.

Considering that in both the fate and ubw he opens up with alpha striking people this is an wonderful point.
