It's annoying that we are going to destroy a source of information/etc because of something Orthjolf did/wanted.
How is this going to affect our relation to the Daedric planes is another question.

I get what you're saying and can in some ways agree with you. But the DB have pushed the line too far for soemthing like that. And our responses to thwir orevious actions have clearly sent the message that we are both weak and that we if we do choose to do anything are too weak to really do anything meaningful to them.

It's not because of Orthjolf that this attack is happening. I honestly don't give the slightest of fucks what he wants. It's because they're since the moment we met them been arrogant, antagonistic and near enemies to us in pretty much every situation where they were involved.

They've attacked us. They've attacked our very few friends. They've attacked our vassals. They've then proceeded to get away with all that and we did do anything. And looks here, again they've attacked people they thought were under us and this time decided to threaten us again as well. Where does it end?

At this point we need to make a point. We need to show that we are strong to more than just the DB. And we need to show that shirt like this won't be tolerated. Otherwise people will think that we won't do anything for some reason about being threatened and our vassals attacked. And so they will do it again or other people will do it themselves. And that's not even saying how if we attack the DB and then allow them to leave we might just face mass deserters on our hands who believe we don't give a damn if they're attacked and/or killed up under Flan's/ our leadership.

We can always take the answers from them after we've ripped a few of the others to shreds before we kill the rest. But at this point, I don't think letting them live no matter what the benefit will send the right message. Nor will it be in character.

Hell the very fact that we've let them do so much to us on more than one occasion before should be enough to out them down. This is the third time they've attacked us or those under our command after all (to thwir knowledge). Just talking it out is no longer an option anymore. The DB aren't worth th respect of any other faction or our own men losing respect/ faith in us. We need to make a point. And the DB are both strong and feared enough to make that point when we out them down to anyone else who doesn't already know that we're not to be fucked with and won't take shit like this sitting down.

Edit- Wow that's a lot longer than I thought it would be/ intended it to be. It's so easy to write a lot/lose track of how much you've written when you're on an iPad since you lose the top of the post after a paragraph or two.

Edited my previous post. Main problem was all our options in dealing with them was 'Kill them.' Not a lot of room there for talking to start with.
Hindsight's 20/20 on making a good write-in as well.

We should have taught them a lesson when they did that but the option was to actively kill them, not teach them a lesson.
They wouldn't have been any use to us dead.
Hm? If you mean after the attack on Feran and Fura ... most of the options were 'teach them a lesson' instead of wipe them out:
[ ] Track down Babette and bring her here.
- [ ] Leave her companions alone.
- [ ] Kill her companions.
- [ ] Bring her companions here.

[ ] Bring Babette's companions here:
- [ ] Whichever you find first.
- [ ] The werewolf.
- [ ] The Argonian.

[ ] Hire the Companions to find the werewolf.
- [ ] And bring it back, alive.
- [ ] And kill it.
- [ ] And tell you where it dens.

[ ] Ignore them for now; concentrate on the Dawnguard.

[ ] Other?
There was a tie between ignoring them and bringing back one of her companions, but pretty much the only options that would have led to the destruction of the Dark Brotherhood would have been a write-in or killing her companions while bringing her back to the castle.

If you want to 'teach them a lesson' right now, you want the 'Rebuke' option.

So this
[X] Rebuke the Dark Brotherhood. Personally.
- [X] Move against the Dawnguard.
- - [X] Through Falkreath.
would effectively be the same as:

[] Move against the Dawnguard.
-[] Through Falkreath.
--[] Take a side trip to wipe out the Dark Brotherhood.
Just without killing everyone without warning?
EDIT: As I said Hindsight is 20/20, at that point in time I thought abducting a member of the DB was going to escalate the situation into needing to kill them. I was likely too cautious.

Rebuking involves finding the Sanctuary, peeling it open like a Fruit Roll-Up, and making Flan's opinion regarding the Brotherhood's actions extremely clear, yes.

"Remilia?" Sayaka spun around to see the vampire staring up into empty space. She hesitated, then shrugged and went back to heating up the tea she'd brought. An abandoned factory wasn't really the best place for a magical girl and a vampire to hide out, but it was far from the worst, and she'd promised Junko that she'd try to keep Flandre under control. "No! I - I'm sorry! Don't -!" Sayaka spun, transforming as the vampire tried to skitter backward, and lunged for her when an arrow sent her reeling back, howling. She looked up as her magic went to work on Flandre, healing her injury, and she saw a dozen figures drop onto the catwalk on the far side of the room. Magical girls. She took a deep breath and turned to face them - and then Flandre shrieked, stunning and deafening her. When she recovered, she saw that Flandre had already started fighting, and the far side of the building was ruined by great sweeps of a flaming sword. Then she tumbled back, because she had her own problems to deal with.

Swords leapt into her hands to block the first girl's katana, but that wasn't good enough, and the girl slipped her blade through a minute gap and put a gash across Sayaka's shoulder, then bounced away before she could be targeted by a return strike. The second girl simply grabbed the blades and wrenched them away from Sayaka; she responded by leaping back and hurling the swords she pulled from within her cloak. None of them pierced her skin, however, and the first girl rushed in again. The two of them kept her off-balance for almost a minute, until part of the roof fell in, separating them. Sayaka's magic finished healing her injuries, and then she leaped up onto the crumbling wall - she saw Flandre racing away, plowing through buildings in attempts to get out of the sunlight, and raced after her. It didn't matter, now, if people saw her; stopping Flandre from getting too out of control was the priority.

She caught up to her at the school. Why she'd gone there, instead of somewhere else, she didn't know - maybe it was just some kind of vampire blood-radar, or she thought that a bunch of kids would be easier than adults, or maybe she knew that that Homura girl would be there and thought she had something to do with it. Sayaka didn't know why, only that Flandre had gone there, and … and a whole lot of people were dead, because she'd messed up, hadn't been fast enough. Then she saw Madoka - and saw her make a wish, and it almost seemed like the entrance to a Barrier was opening. And then -

"You can't beat her." Sayaka jerked back in surprise - Homura was there, holding her arm, and the world was that weird off-color again, with everything frozen. She swallowed and nodded.

"I know. I … I can't fight her, not with any chance. But maybe I don't have to - Junko said that she seemed lonely, and …. Well, it's my responsibility, isn't it? It's because of Mami and me that it worked out this way. So I have to try. Maybe I can keep something like … like this …." The quiet girl stared at her, then looked down.

"Here." She held out four Grief Seeds, and Sayaka stared before swallowing taking them. Six Grief Seeds … yes, she wouldn't be coming back, one way or another. Once they ran out, she would die - or worse. But maybe she'd be able to do some good before then. Her eyes shifted, looking past the mysterious transfer student and focusing on her friend.

"Thank you, Homura. Can … can you take care of Madoka? I …." Homura nodded.

"I'll take care of her." Sayaka thought she heard something in the other girl's voice, a strain or a hitch, and for an instant, she seemed almost sad, but it was too late to keep thinking about that.

"Thank you." She let go of the transfer student's hand, and as time shocked back into motion she leaped forward into the hole in the world, trailing after the little vampire. She plowed into her, grabbing her from behind and sending the two of them spinning off into a strange grey void. Flandre seemed to be confused, almost unaware, and Sayaka held her close, wondering if whatever wish Madoka had made had sent them to some featureless world where Flandre couldn't be a threat to anyone … except someone foolish enough to follow her in. Eventually, however, she twitched, shivered, and looked back at Sayaka. They almost spoke, but a strange gash in the void opened up, drawing the attention of the magical girl first, then the vampire. They tumbled in, but before they had even hit the ground, Flandre threw Sayaka off to the side. There was an explosion of some kind, and something hot splattered over her face. She hit something hard and lay on the ground for a moment, then groggily climbed to her hands and knees, looking around.

The first thing she saw was the bright moon overhead. The second, that whatever had happened to her, happened to Flandre as well, because she was lying in the road, missing pretty much everything below her chest. Her left arm gave out and she slumped back to the ground, wondering if her eyes were playing tricks on her or if she was really seeing a knight fighting a huge, black-skinned man. Someone knelt down beside her.

"Hey, are you okay?" She blinked. At least she was still in Japan ….

AU. Some liberties taken, especially since that world hadn't opened up when this particular combination could have happened, but then I support GARberry.

... Also, I think it's kinda stilted and probably should be cleaned up and expanded, but given how many updates the actual events took from Flan's PoV, I'm not sure I'd be able to do that without spending several thousand words on it, and I'm not quite willing to put that much effort into it.

So. Turning vampires mortal. I wonder if it's actually possible for this to work on Flan since, as far as we know, she may never have been mortal to begin with. If it can work, though, and if they could somehow set it up as an effective trap? That's some AU chapter worthy shit, right there. Assuming we don't Bad End into it for real.

Would any of you consider Rebuking?

It's apparently effectively the same vote, just without the outright killing of those who would be useful. Still teaching them their place, just not letting them escape into death afterwards.
They're going to have to live with being crushed by someone they thought beneath them, this way.

[X] Rebuke the Dark Brotherhood. Personally.
- [X] Move against the Dawnguard.

It's that 'Little Sithis', there's almost certainly something there which will help us destroy Mephala.
The Dark Brotherhood is also likely the quickest source of Daedric knowledge, being it's effectively the cult of Sithis.

Like, I wanted to kill Babette from the START, but got overruled every time.

At this point the goal in its own right is extermination of the Dark Brotherhood.

The usefulness argument is irrelevant considering thats how we got here in the first place.

I'd say building Flandre's power/etc is the main goal, dealing with the Brotherhood will be either
Destroy the Sanctuary, humble them before us, kill them, likely get noticed by Daedric Lords some more
or
Destroy the Sanctuary, humble them before us, use them and take their knowledge.

Killing isn't necessarily the best option, though sometimes I was too cautious in my voting, but we know they know something we want. If they are dead, we can't learn it.

I've already given my opinion on that so I'll leave it short.

We don't need to let the DB live to get the information. We can get it out of them after killing a few if they don't tell us and tbh it's too much trouble to let them live and have Flandre spare even more enemies just to let them live to potentially even cause trouble again (for the fourth time) for the possible benefit of discovering the meaning to a throw away title.

Who's to say we won't find out in the fight or the pre-fight banter/ questioning? Or the mid fight questioning/ interrogation? And even then they called us "Little Sithis" so if they're so stupid as to provoke us this much even with that name it likely doesn't mean as much as you think it does. It's not like we're going to get adopted by Sithis and a power up from investigating it. Atleast not from what we've seen so far. Power ups seem far and apart tin this quest :p.

Besides. Letting another group of enemies go again is just really pushing it for Flan as I've already said. Jeez this is Flandre/ Madness Quest. When was the last time she actually killed non-mooks/ named characters? Even the wolf queen was just a quest objective... We haven't done shit since we got to Skyrim. I'm really hoping we can let loose on n Army or something to that extent soon...

It should be noted that the daedric lords don't give a damn about the Dark Brotherhood. They worship for Sithis, who is neither aedra or daedra and has never taken direct action on the material in all available lore, and the night mother who may very well be Mephala messing around with peoples heads.

The Falkreth Dark Brotherhood don't really follow either though. They're pretty much just an assassins guild. They didn't care at all about the night mother.

It's not only specifically the 'Little Sithis' thing regarding the information they have but sadly they likely have made a fatal mistake without knowing it. I want them to know how badly they screwed up before taking further action, killing/not killing them/reparations/whatever after their response are all possibilities.

(This post doesn't sound quite right.)

I'm pretty sure they'll know exactly how fucked they are when we break down their sanctuary doors and slaughter their freinds/members. Sure they may not be able to stew in that regret and fear but it'll nonetheless certainly be a part of ripping their entire order/ family apart. Espcially with how close they are to eachother and how they're pretty much the last DB group in the world. Killing them will destroy everything for them. That it happens to also be extremely satisfying and an overdue response to their own repeated action and follies is very much just a bonus and something for Flan to be excited bout. Besides at this point there's no way they're dying. They've pissed off every voter and Flan with their repeated disrespect, attacks, threats and trickery. That they've survived this long was just us being busy. Everyone else has voted for their head so there's no way they're getting away with this a third time. Sorry man.

Hell the fact that we have voters who usually just lurk contributing to this vote, and so early after the chaoter too should be an indicator of how much the DB have pissed off/ irritated the voters. At this point even if it turns out to be the wrong choice unless it's something massive they're dying. And even then a lot of voters will be happy with it. From what I've seen anyway. It's just a validation of all the distrust and irritation that their shit has brought upon them. That they seemed to have brought this to our door to greater us even when we'd left them alone completely and forgotten about them just means they need out down.

They'll know they screwed up as they're being ripped apart by Flan. Most importantly, Flan could really use a opportunity to completely let loose + gorge on some delicious food instead of draugr/dragons/skeletons/other nasties. Also, I'm just getting sick of the DB in this quest.

I know that, I just have the feeling it might be a mistake in some ways and wasteful in others.
I regret some of my votes but I can't do much about them now.
I support destroying the place and killing some of them to teach them a lesson, but all of them seems unecessary.

All of them was a given ever since we let Babette go. Back then if we offed her, that would have been the end of the matter for them and they could possibly be talked to.

Now they just neef to be exterminated. Letting any leave only makes it worse

That's incorrect, if we killed Babette we would have lost an asset/trust for becoming friendly with the Brotherhood, it was more likely not abducting a DB member when we had the chance that led to things getting this bad. (Should have dealt with Orthjolf, that's was the last straw)
They're used to leaning on people weaker then they are and since we didn't slap them down they kept on leaning on us.
Since a number of people just want Flandre to kill the entire time, that's going to add into the frustrations of dealing with the DB.
