Omake Keeping Up Appearances (RIn)
Shirou had no idea why Magnus said that this girl was less than filth yet at the same time he Crimson King had also stated that it would be for the best if he associated with her. Apparently according to Magnus the Girl was a little emotionally unstable due to incident with the fire not too long ago. Shirou had been told to be himself, though he had no idea how to go about that.
Finally despite the necessity of subtlety that had been taught to him Shirou decided that with this girl the direct approach was a better one. walking up to her Shirou asked "Why are you trying not to cry or scream in frustration?" from what both him and Magnus could see the girl was still upset over something but she was also rather angry about something else. "Frustration" the word echoed over in Shiirou's mind as he realised that it was not a word a child his age would use. The chuckles of the Crimson King confirmed this.
"No" the girl stammered turning her head to face him a little too quickly before she was able to put her mask back on "what on earth gave you that idea?" she asked. Her tone was not haughty as much as it held confidence in ones self, though this seemed to be more or less faked. "Anyway I am not upset in any case so there is no need to bother me" She stated while brushing a hand across the back of her head covering her neck.
"You're lying" Shirou stated bluntly, "you're a good at it as well, but this time you stuttered and had to collect yourself before you spoke and then jerked your head" Shirou explained to the slightly irritated girl, though the words were more Magnus's than his. Shirou had learned a little from Kiritsugu but not enough, though he could tell if a person was hiding something easily. "You also made to cover your vulnerable spot namely the back your neck and finally you said far too much when you answered."
Instinct and what little training he had told Shirou to step back as he avoided a slap. The girl must have lost a it at him or must have been shocked with his rudeness, perhaps a bit of both, while he had not intended to be rude accusing someone of lying is rude.
It seemed that the girl had overexerted herself when she had attempted to slap him for being rude and she fell over. Shirou watched in fascination at this, though the tanned redhead was more interested in the curses the girl muttered than anything else. deciding to press on his query Shirou asked "did you lose someone in the fire?" as he asked this he crouched to get a look at the girl as she pushed herself to a sitting position.
"No" came the blunt and slightly upset reply, this both Shirou and Magnus believed to be true.
"Then why are you in so much pain?" Shirou asked, though it was Magnus who was really sensing it and simply sharing the emotions raging within the girl with Shirou.
<Both of her parents are more of less> the Crimson King stated <one is dead and the other's sense of reason has left her.> Though it seemed that he sounded rather pleased about this, though Shirou did believe that he could have just been imagining it.
"Did you parents die?" Shirou asked, this time he took the blow but given his skill in biomancy it wouldn't hurt for too much longer, though he did slighty harden himself to lesson the impact though not enough that it was noticeable, just enough that the girl would hurt her hand more than she would hurt his cheek. "I'll take that as a yes" Shirou informed her, he did not understand why he was getting on her nerves. Magnus however did and saw no reason to stop it. It would get her to admit it faster if she lost control for a few seconds.
"What do you know" the girl snapped. almost tearing up but being able to hold it back to the extent that other's would not be able to see it.
Shirou thought about for a moment "nothing, I don't know what it is like to lose your parents" he admitted.
<You don't know what it is like having parents either> Magnus informed him giving Shirou the subtle hint as to what he should say next
"What is it like having parents?" Shirou asked the girl who froze up at what he had just said "is it any good or am I better off without the knowledge of what it is like?"
"What do you mean you 'don;t have the knowledge of what it is like'?" the girl asked.
"I thought it obvious, I don't remember them" Shirou answered causing the girl to fight back a wince.
"Did they die when you were very young?" the girl asked him.
Shirou gave a shrug "again I don't remember, they may have been alive until recently or I could have been an orphan my entire life, I can't remember anything. Not their names, not their faces not even if I had any siblings or if I was an only child."
"Did you suffer an accident to your head then?" the girl asked a little curious.
<This was almost too easy> Magnus commented <feed their curiosity a little and they will lap everything up, though in this case you are not deceiving her.>
"No, I lost it in the fire" Shirou informed her. from theway the girl reacted it seemed that she knew something about the fire that occurred "When I awoke I had no memories of who I had been, though they said I had said a single name so now I am by that."
"What is that name?" the girl asked.
Shirou looked at her for a moment before he replied. "Shirou"
"Very well then, Shirou" the girl said stannding up and dusting herself off "Nice to meet you" she stated holding out her hand "my name is Rin, Tohsaka Rin"
