Fate/Promised Dream

I had the same feeling. I think it's because Shirou's actually bartering and not falling all over himself trying to help someone. It seems so alien. So Archer.
Given he's been told what appears to be a child will die without it, it kind of makes him come across as a tool to me.
Keep in mind Waver doesn't have much magical energy. Iskander had to be conservative. If he was fully incarnated, he'd have less of a problem, as his own upkeep isn't a problem anymore and...well, there's all kinds of ley lines up for grabs if he conquers the world.
(waves hand) maybe, not so sure myself, granted the whole thing would have been a mess regardless thanks to the god of evil and all.

I think there was a Dorkly video that covered something like this XD
"So just because I can summon a Heroic Spirit that makes it OK to deny a lifesaving treatment to a thirteen year old body!?"
Would you immediately trust the girls in front of you if you knew either one of them could physically dismember you, one of which with her fingers?

Does he know she can do that? And given its Shirou "I must protect my super human magical warrior" then the question isn't whether 'I' would but would he?
The bigger problem with that is the manipulation annoying Rider, since he can recognize a blatant attempt to push the innocent Master's buttons, and not appreciate it.

Well, and Saber who's as direct as her weapon using that kind of psychological ploy.

I think a much bigger issue at hand is that Shirou is asking for anything in this situation, and we still think playing on his "honor" is going to be our best strategy. "Honor" would dictate he give us what we what, we just saved his life. Yet he's looking to get more out if than he likely deserves in this, our first encounter.

I think we need to stop treating this guy like he's good 'ol shit tierou and start treating him like a big boy...

On an unrelated note, how's the tally looking? Did we break it?

[X] Barter for Avalon.
-[X] Ask Shirou why he didn't know about the war already.
-[X] Use the gaps in each group's knowledge to convince Ilya and Shirou of the benefits of an alliance.
-[X] See if all the different things you want from the Grail can be combined into a shared wish to make it less important which of you wins in the end.
-[X] Offer an alliance
--[X] "I seek to win the Grail with honor, but the last War has taught me that there are more madmen and monsters out there than true heroes. I would settle this in the end between the true heroes with honor than be forced to watch the city drown and burn.

Might as well get a vote in.

Fair point, changing my vote:

I'm now going to assume he was taught more by his adoptive dad, including the fine art of being a tool.

[X] Suggest that you and Rider could work together to defeat the other Servants so in the end the two of you can face off in honourable combat.

Guys, remember: A laughing GM is a good sign, because a happy GM won't smite you out of spite.

We are most definitely on a good track here.

Or the GM is above about to unleash he'll on us, and is laughing at our stupidity.
Plus we don't exactly know what shirou can do without Avalon since he would most likely burn himself out failing in magecraft. Would we really want an ally like that now or later

And you seem to be missing one of SB's famous sayings "Snatching Defeat from the jaws of Victory". Trust me, we'll figure out a way to screw ourself over... and thus curse Mordred to an eternity of working for Alaya. :V

Come on guys. We. Can. Do It! :V

THAT'S RIGHT! NEVER UNDERESTIMATE OUR ABILITY TO HORRENDOUSLY FAIL TO MEET ANY OR ALL EXPECTATIONS!

CHARGE, MY FELLOW LEMMINGS! ONCE MORE, UNTO THE BREACH!
