3-1 Winter Hellscape
[X] Don't trust Edgar
[X] 6 altitude
[X] Nerves of Steel (Dogfight Mastery)

The gas suit you were given didn't fit, but you made it work. The suit was clearly made for large, full grown men while you were a short eighteen year old woman. You managed to stuff your puffy black hair underneath the hood and made sure it was airtight, with a simple air spell, and discovered that Riya was right, it smelled like charcoal. The filter didn't restrict breathing though, which was nice. The single visor glass meant you could still see pretty much fine, though it was difficult to hear. And your ears were crushed. And your tail was stuffed down your pant leg, which was an awful experience to sit on. Fuck, this was going to suck.

After kissing Gunther goodbye and explaining why he couldn't come, takeoff was simple enough. You circled town a few times with Edgar, watching as the airship ascended with Riya's blue monoplane hanging from the bottom. She decided to stay on the airship until you all got close, and then you'd circle the city a few times to look for Monika. You stuck to a relatively low altitude of about six hundred meters, just high enough to keep you in the clouds, but not low enough to be spotted by "Die Geister". You knew of the existence of shades, but had thankfully never encountered one. You hoped today wouldn't change that. The wind picked up as you approached the swirling vortex of snow and poison, flying over increasingly dead looking swamplands and forests, and you could feel the temperature beginning to drop. The mercury thermometer on your dashboard started to drop, and though your enchanted dress and gas suit provided some insulation, you could feel it getting colder. When snow started to pepper your visor, you looked back at the thermometer. 0°. Then -5°. It kept dropping.

You could see the outline of buildings through the baby blue haze over them now. Towering grey structures like you'd never seen before. It would be awe inspiring, if not for the circumstances. You had two competing voices about it. The first was from your coven, who told you cities were a monument to madness, the greatest examples of the endless expansion, exploitation, and infection of the patriarchy across the continent distilled into smog-choked concrete hellscapes full of the economically and culturally enslaved. The other felt at least a bit sad that you missed it. Even if all you heard was true, seeing such a monument live would be interesting in and of itself. Whatever, no use crying over it. Even if it was a graveyard. Full of shades. And frozen corpses. And cannibal survivors.

You flew into a cloud while lost in thought. The airship flipped its floodlights on to make sure you knew where it was, so you weren't flying blind, but it was still a bit nerve wracking. The wind was getting truly frightening now, and you could feel heavy snow starting to smack against the left side of your head. You noticed flashing lights to your left as well, looking like a signal. Turning, it was Edgar with a signal light flashing Morse code at you.

L-O-O-K-W-I-N-G-S-I-C-I-N-G

He flashed with blistering speed, pointing at your left wing. You looked up at the parasol and saw what he was talking about, ice was starting to form on your wings from flying straight for too long. You banked left and right a little and shattered some of the ice pieces, but you knew this was going to be an issue. You signed back

UNDERSTOOD

with one hand. Well, you just gave him a thumbs up but that was synonymous with the actual sign. Suddenly, the airship let out two thunderous blasts from its horn, alerting you that you were now right above the city. Riya's plane detached from the airship and started flying alongside you and Edgar.

Alright! Time to explain the plan you definitely have for finding and rescuing Monika! In order to look with your eyes, you will have to dip below the clouds, so down at least 1 Altitude band. So unless you have some other way to search, you're probably gonna have to dip down a bit. The characters outlined whatever plan we'll be using beforehand, so don't worry about coordination, they know what to do.

Temperature currently is a brisk -90°C, meaning it's Frozen. That means I have all sorts of fun hard moves to throw your way! Also, there's a silly 4 Segment clock called Icing that increases when you roll Air Patrol and at the end of combat that reduces stability and max speed by one every time it's ticked!

[ ] Write in the plan to find your rescue-ie!

[X] Plan Predator
- We have a fire and an air focus to cast with.
- Air to reveal what is hidden
- Fire to see the heat below
- Monika will need warmth. Find the warmth, find her.

[X] Plan One has to land

God those are both very good plans. I think I'm going with this one because I feel like if we can find her plane that gives us a better starting point to go from. (Assuming she didn't crash, anyway.)

@CallmeIshma3l, I just realized, you're in SLC, I was just there. Idk if you're on the fc discord server but I referenced getting on a plane, I'm taking a trip to Utah. It's always interesting to think about the closest you've physically gotten to someone you've met online.

Also thank youuuuuuu again for complimenting my writing.

Alright, since it's still tied I'm just gonna throw in my vote here, being

[X] Plan Predator

Now, I'm not gonna make you use fire magic here, as I feel Air magic can reveal this stuff just fine.

• On a success: You are now able to find a source of heat while using air patrol.
• On a partial: You can still find it, but are overwhelmed by the sheer lack of energy anywhere but the source of heat you're looking for and take -2 Calm forward.
• On a failure: You are overwhelmed by something else that suffocates your mind and leaves you shaking. +2 Stress and -1 Ongoing from the experience until landing.

Basically, this acts like a magical spotlight so you can detect heat, but you still need to fly around to find it. Alright! Roll me 2d10+Wild, which is +3! Then roll Air Patrol regardless, but on a failure take disadvantage as you're just trying to look for signs of life rather than magic. Air patrol is a flat 2d10 roll, but because of the rain and snow you get a -2 unfortunately.

3-2 WHAT IS THAT
You took out your giant eagle feather, closing your eyes for a moment and whispering a prayer to the goddess of wisdom.

"Elba, my goddess, I beg of thee to grant wisdom and true sight to your humble follower so that I may save a woman's life." You whisper as the world fades out around you, and when you open your eyes, you feel like you're seeing two versions of the world at once. One being the blue and white cloud around you, and the other being a primordial, overwhelming blackness. A void of energy, of magic, of life. There was nothing around you other than the red, orange, and yellow glow of Riya and Edgar's bodies and planes, along with the airship. You started hyperventilating, before steadying your breathing and white knuckling the stick. It'll be ok. It was going to be ok. You couldn't change what happened here, but-OH FUCK OH FUCK OH SHIT

A… THING flew from the clouds like some kind of silent monster, a mix between a four winged bird and a plane. There was no pilot, just a single glowing green… eye? it looked like it was gathering energy. The heat you could now detect like a snake saw there was about to be an explosion of energy from that malevolent eye.

ROLL TAKE FIIIIIRREEEEE!!!

Remember, if you want you can use either Riya or Edgar to grant advantage on-call, as they're npc combat pilots that will help you. So if you want either of them to help, you can just say "I'd like Edgar to disrupt their focus with some gunfire" and they'll take disadvantage on forcing you to take fire, as low numbers are better. The weird crechur is at close range currently. As a reminder, you have -2 Keen, so you'll actually be adding 2 to the roll.

COMBAT TIME! IVE GOT ALL DAY AND I JUST CRUSHED A CAN OF BONES COFFEE SO GET READY FOR RAPID FIRE THREADMARKS.

WAIT WAIT WAIT I FUCKED UP

You only take 8 damage, now I need someone to roll me crits, 1d20+2.

3-3 WHAT MAGIC IS THIS?!
I am screaming OH NOOOO while laughing irl. Thank you Ebbor.

A number of flashes pulsed from the evil eye, and in less than a second massive holes appeared in your wings, surrounded by fire. What magic was this?! How could a machine use it?! The fire began spreading. It didn't just go out, it started to creep over the canvas of your wings. You could tell the structure of the plane was damaged, and it would only get worse if you didn't do something.

[ ] Let's hear those plans for your next turn!

[X]Plan O Fuck
-[X]Hilda takes it safe and gets her fire out
-[X]Everyone else, go shoot the thing! Try to not be in front of it, maybe.

Simple and dumb, but seems like the best options I can think of right now.

Alright, we've got to do something to put out the fire, because otherwise it's 2 or 3 turns before we go down.

Could we use our fire magic to control it?
