Another Life Another World 1:
(Aerys POV)
You felt the cold wind on your face, as you looked out into the distance, watching the Blackwater Rush slowly flow into the ocean. Beyond that, if you were high above in the Dragon Keep of Aegon's Fortress, you could sometimes see the hint of smoke, rising above from the Dragonmount.
It was one of those days you were glad that peace reigned through the lands of Westeros. You could not handle another war… not after losing Rhaegar to the Stormlord's… monster, Robert.
He looked down at the courtyard. His children, grandchildren, and wards were practicing their archery.
All of them were… well, none of them were Aemon when it came to the bow… or Gallerion when it came to banter.
"Come on Egg, pull the string back a little bit more, and than bring that arm up." Aemon stated.
Rhaegar's bastard was… conflicting to look at. Black of hair, grey of eyes… he never said a word about his mother when you inquired before he left, because he did not even remember her. Dayne, the Wandering Star, the Sword of the Morning, had brought him here after Rhaegar died when news reached him in Dorne.
But he was a good man and a good friend to his family. He suspected he might grant him a lordship, or command of the City Watch of Aegon's Landing or even the Refuge. He deserved responsibility for his hard work. He may not be wearing the name, but he was Rhaegar's blood, through and through.
The arrow loosed, but it was not from Aegon. Immediately you knew exactly who it was. "Rhaenys!" Aegon protested at his sister curtsied to him.
There was laughter among the children, as they realized what had happened. "Oh come now." You raised your voice to silence them. "Rhaenys. It's not your turn to practice archery."
"Yes, Grandfather." She replied.
You turned around to face Elia Martell, walking with a helper, and a cane. "You are far too lenient with her." She stated.
"Would you rather she be with her aunt?" You replied with a grin.
"I would rather she study her history," Elia stated. "She needs to be a good lady, as well as able to defend herself."
"She's still young, and she has more than capable in caring for herself. A match will follow." You stated. "As much as the rest of the realm distrust her, she wears the name proudly."
Elia huffed. "I will never understand you Valyrian's and you're lienecey with your daughters."
"Would you rather she be fucking her brother?" the grin you gave made her roll her eyes in disgust.
"Do not throw that around… that was our deal." She stated.
"She will be wed to a suitable husband." You replied. "A Frey Perhaps?"
That set her off. "For all the gods, no Frey's."
You smiled. "Than give me time to find a match. There is no shortage in this world."
That was when a dragon roared, and you looked up to see the blue scaled dragon flying overhead.
Nearly missing the keep.
"By the fourteen!" You swore. "Those two fuckers better not have damaged the pens! It's hard enough to repair the pens!" You then began to storm off. "They better not have killed my sheep!"
"Aerys, we don't have sheep," Elia stated, concerned. "You raise pigs."
That was when you realized your slip… It was happening again. Misremembering things again. "I know what I meant."
It was time to deal with the Valyreon brothers.
You hoped they had news of Viserys.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Addam smiled as he saw you. "See, a perfect landing!" He stated as he jumped down, armor on, sword to the side. "Hello, you're Grace!" He bowed.
Alyn joined his brother, wearing fine silks, blue, and white and tall leather boots. "King Aerys." He bowed.
"You tow fuckers know about flying from the east?" You growled.
"To circle to the south, so the banners would raise?" Addam replied sheepishly. "To tell you a Dragon comes?"
"Yes… do you know why we do that?" You growled again.
"To prevent surprises and property damage?" Alyn replied.
"To prevent surprises and property damage!" You parroted. "You could have destroyed the Pigpen!"
Alyn scratched his head. "Sorry your grace."
You sighed. "Learn from this. And I will not send you for a night in the dungeon." You were being awfully merciful to those two… Viserys' companions were… annoying.
The two brothers bowed their heads in shame. "Now, tell me… what news of Viserys?" you asked. "Is he coming home from his tour?"
"Yes." Addam stated. "He sent us with this message." He handed over a large parchment. "He's sorry it didn't come sooner."
You sighed. You were getting too old for this shit… worrying about your children when you had grandchildren to dot and a kingdom to run.
You took the scroll and opened it, reading its contents as you took it from them, hoping to hear about great treasures…
You dropped it in fear.
Dear Father,
The Eagles have broken the Truce, and flying south, through Lys.
Prepare.
Viserys.
AN: Enjoy.
